"What?!" Celandine yelled as she heard about what Adrian had done. It was one thing to lock the room of the device, it was another for them to not be able to get in there.

"Is there no other way inside?" She asked John who only shook his head. Without entering that room, they couldn't activate the array because that was where the array had to be connected for the intended effect.

"Get in there. However you can." Celandine ordered. The clerics and they rushed to get it done.

"Stay here in case things get out of hand," Celandine said and left for the dungeon cell as well.

John also worriedly looked at the army that was slowly approaching and another recharge of the teor spell.

As Celandine arrived in front of the dungeon cell, she felt her power leaving her body. She tried to hold on to the changes as she always had and tried to open the door but it didn't. Soon, the clerics returned with heavy weapons.

Since they didn't have any battering rams lying around, they had to do with what they had. But one hit from those weapons and the rebound from the heavy tal door shook them.

They tried for a long while but they couldn't get in. "This isn't working. Step back." Celandine said and she moved back and kept doing it until she was out of the range of the machine's power. She raised her hands as mana began to return to her and she conjured up a spell.

Without hesitation, she shot the small ball of light at the door, hoping to do so damage but the ball disappeared from existence as soon as it ca in the radius of the machine's power.

"Darn it!" She yelled and said, "Prepare sothing heavy to open this door with. We don't need reinforcents on the top for now. Bring them all down here. NOW!"

She barked another series of orders and once again ca in front of the door. She knocked on it to get the attention of the person inside, "Whatever you're doing, you're making it worse for you."

There was no reply for a while before an amused voice entered her ears as she heard, "That's the line of a desperate person you know."

Adrian said before he added, "And this room would be terrible for mumbo jumbo, seeing as the soundproofing is so bad. Waste of tal I'd say."

Celandine didn't understand the second part but she knew what the first one ant. She was indeed desperate. If they didn't activate the array, soon, the army of the Lux empire would invade them and there was no chance of winning. The only way to win was from behind that door and only one way to get in.

"We can co to an agreent," She said while biting her lip.

"All I'm saying is don't put a lock inside of a holding cell. Only on the outside. Even NYPD is smart enough to do that." Another bout of gibberish ca from the other side which Celandine didn't understand and Adrian added, "Also, I would be willing to consider if you co in without clothes."

Celandine wasn't offended by that remark because that was just said to buy ti anyway.

"What do you want?" Celandine asked.

"Your heart~~~~" A charming voice ca from the inside with the intent to deliver romance.

But Celandine didn't feel that way. For so reason, she felt chills she hadn't even felt when her own god threatened her. She could instinctively tell that Adrian wasn't asking for her heart in a lovely sense but literally taking her heart, 'out of her body' sense.

"I'm afraid that is out of the question." Celandine collected herself and spoke, "My heart belongs to soone else." She tried to joke to steer the conversation but Adrian was more ruthless than she had assud.

"Don't worry. Fighting over a girl's heart is a true man's nature." Adrian replied.

Celandine was about to continue when the clerics returned with heavy tals, trees, and anything they could find. They had the wisdom to trim the tree top to make it pierce the door before coming here.

"Go on." Celandine got out of the way. Lifting the tree was difficult for the clerics once they were in the machine's range but they managed to do it with their numbers.

They began to ram the tree in the door but the result remained the sa. However, the tree wasn't also damaged so they had a chance.

"You should co out now, Adrian. These n will kill you if they make it inside," Celandine once again tried to negotiate but heard no response from the inside.

"There's no use in talking," John had co there at so ti too, and ordered the guards, "Just continue."

The clerics nodded and began to ram the door. The progress was slow but they were getting sowhere as the door was slowly becoming loose from the sides.

Celandine, however, had another premonition, a bad one. She hurriedly left the place and ca outside. Once her power returned, she sat down and began to observe the situation, not of the army outside that was getting closer, but the situation on the inside.

On the inside, the door finally fell under the constant charge of many n and John led his forces inside only to stop because Adrian was ssing around with the machine.

"Stop him!!!" John yelled but before they could, a shockwave emitted from the machine that pushed everyone away. Soon, their power began to return as well. As the power returned, they felt a threat instead of relief as they looked at the white-haired young man who had a grin on his face and said, "Phew. That was close as hell."

***********

Phew. That was close. Really, really close. I got lucky and finished just before they ended up coming in. If I had been a little late, I would have been skewered by the sword of many clerics. The steel ones I hoped.

Anyway, I felt the power return to and filled it with power. As I looked at my guests, my desire to rip them apart welled up inside but this wasn't a war. And even in a war I wouldn't kill an innocent soldier let alone when I wasn't in a war.

These poor soldiers were just following the will of the god. And unfortunately, all of them were innocent. The one who wasn't had already run away because I didn't see the respected supre priest John anywhere.

Well, I will surely find him. For now, I needed to do sothing about that barrier outside. After all, I need to tell my allies that they no longer need to save .

[I doubt they are here for that anyway]

'Yep.' Ruthless bastards, I say. They were less about rescuing and more about making a point.

'The imperial family is stronger than the church,' was what they wanted the entire world to know.

I touched the machine at my arm's length and it disappeared in my inventory. I would be an idiot to leave it behind. Where would I find a weapon that would make the strongest, after all?

"Oye, all of you." I addressed the clerics who were trembling in fear at just my sight. Kind of hurts, actually. "Rember, this is how rciful I am," I said before I activated fly and flew up the room, tearing apart everything in my way and reaching the open sky.

Well, there was a barrier in the way but that wasn't my focus at the mont. I turned around to analyze the situation. What the situation on the battlefield was and I was glad to see that the imperial family hadn't even gotten through the barrier.

So strength they possessed if they couldn't even get through a lousy barrier for almost an hour.

I could still see past it though and past the children of the fla, there were my allies, looking right at . I could see Bayern ready to command an attack while Rafael just looked at .

I guess they didn't expect to be fine, especially from the look on Bayern's face.

I ignored him and extended my hand, deflecting the attack of the light ball that was headed straight for with my bare hand.

I looked down at the spot it ca from and saw the good priest John down there, with a bewildered and panicked look on his face.

My guess would be he wasn't the one who shot at .

'She really is sothing.' I thought inwardly.

[Don't tell you're getting the hots for her.]

"Yeah. So much so that I am going to keep those beautiful and pretty eyes of hers in a box with all the ti." I said out loud and turned my attention up to the sky where I could see the thin transparent do.

I could take care of Celandine later. For now, I needed to take care of this.

This barrier was erected using the mana of a guardian-ranked being. Not sothing I would be able to easily deal with but I had a little sothing no one else had.

And no, it wasn't soul power.

Have I ever said the scale of destruction that could be brought by the collision of life and death?

Well, we're about to find out.
