Alicia was lying on her bed, sleeping peacefully from the looks of it but that wasn't so. Her mind was in turmoil, rembering images of the past she never knew she had.

"Mom!" She yelled, inside her dream.

A black-haired woman, with beauty to match hers and the spitting image of Alicia, only older, was seen trying to protect her. She could see sothing else. The umbilical cord. The woman, who was protecting the baby, still had her cord connected to the baby.

Then, Alicia's view changed and she saw a man with the features of an elf. His hair was blonde, his ears long, longer than any elf she had seen, and the beauty to match her beloved, Adrian.

However, the look on his face was pure maniacal when he tried to kill the baby in the woman's hold. The other in the room tried to stop the man but they couldn't. they couldn't no matter what they tried. He was too strong for them.

But then another man entered the room. Blonde hair and golden eyes were the trademarks of the Lux family. He stepped up and stopped the elven man, and threw him outside.

"NO!!!!" The woman with the baby yelled and that was where her dream ended. She opened her eyes with panic but before she could panic even further, a pair of hands held her by her shoulders and pushed her down back into the bed.

"Hey! Calm down!" Adrian exclaid, trying his best to calm her down. Adrian had been with her for almost six hours now. At first, she was peacefully sleeping, with no damage to her anywhere.

However, just a few minutes ago, she started having a terrible seizure but it wasn't a seizure, she was simply trembling, but it was unlike Adrian had ever seen, even from the worst nightmares.

That ant only one thing; her brain was confusing dream with reality.

So he did what he had to do. Made her pain realize between reality and not reality, by the simple good old thod of pain.

Adrian electrocuted her with a lightning crystal from the shop. It was a consumable item and it wasn't supposed to do much except kick-start a reaction.

Anyway, once she woke up, before she could do anything, Adrian diverted her attention sowhere else. He didn't know what dream she was reliving because from what Rafael told her, Adrian didn't know what to pick.

He still rembered his last words when he recounted everything, 'I don't know if my daughter was a good daughter, but I will tell you this. She wasn't a good mother.'

'Haa…' Adrian sighed inwardly as he tried to calm Alicia down. It wasn't that hard of a task and it was done effortlessly, she just needed to differentiate between the dream and reality which Adrian simply did by shaking her lightly between trying to calm her down.

She looked at him, still bewildered, and confused, not being able to tell what was going on.

"Ad…rian…" She said, her eyes out of focus as if she was confused.

"Yes, it's . don't worry. You're absolutely safe," Adrian said, lightly rubbing her shoulders and looking at her with eyes full of affection.

Adrian remained by her side and kept placating her for an hour before her eyes once again felt heavy. However, she refused to close her eyes and said, "I'm afraid to sleep."

Adrian could guess that it was related to the dream she had so he said, "Don't worry. I will be by your side."

ntal fatigue was a normal sign for sleep and those who didn't wouldn't remain in perfect health so he wanted her to sleep.

"It's okay. It's okay," Adrian had no control over her dreams but he could remain by her side and tend to her in case she had another nightmare.

After a few minutes, she fell asleep again and Adrian said, "You can co in now."

The door opened and Rafael slowly walked inside. He looked at Alicia, worry evident in his eyes, and asked, "How is she?"

"She'll be fine. Her mories haven't seed to have returned but the hole was just enough for so dreams to peek through. She's having dreams of her mother. I didn't hear anyone else's na." Adrian reported while also running his soul power through her to calm her down.

"My daughter wasn't like that. She would have been a great mother. It was all that bastard's fault," Rafael said, mana perating from him, expressing his anger at the man who was most probably Alicia's father.

"We all do strange things in love," Adrian simply replied and didn't dwell on the topic anymore. He didn't want to for Alicia's sake as well. Not to ntion it was useless because the involved people were dead so he couldn't kill them to relieve his anger.

"Do you think I failed?" Rafael asked.

Adrian turned to look at Rafael, his eyes wide, expressing his surprise, as he replied, "That's a… wow. You're asking for my opinion."

"Just answer," Rafael replied in irritation.

"Yes," Adrian replied before he added, "You did a wonderful job, not just as a grandfather, but as a father as well. You can never expect what your children would turn out to be."

"There's a ti when they live for people, never hurting anybody, thinking that killing is not the answer to everything. And then a ti cos when they are killing soone, a lot of soone, for the person they loved." Adrian said, staring at Alicia.

Rafael couldn't exactly tell what Adrian ant by that but he knew whatever it was, that was all the answer he was getting.

"Just be content with that you raised your children right. If they still turned out to be monsters, then it isn't your fault," Adrian said before he stood up and turned to Rafael.

"She will sleep for a while. Be with her." Adrian said before he left the Mon Grante family alone and made his way to the training room. There was sothing he needed to do urgently.

***********

[I don't think I will be able to hold it off any longer]

'Just five more minutes,' Adrian replied as he entered a training hall. Not the one his team was in but another one. Adrian hurriedly closed the room but not before purchasing a protective bubble and enveloping himself in it.

The ga of interference and not interference kept going on for six hours. I did my best to hold it back and Allison helped greatly because the word 'Discard' here ant that the power of life would be leaving my body.

It wasn't a pretty word in any way. What it really ant was that my body would be splattered, bursting like a balloon with excess air.

For a better example, who has seen the W*rong turn a water hose into the backside scene?

Much better example.

That was exactly what was going to happen to . I would explode, beyond saving.

The divine power I absorbed from Veronica was pure, so pure that it didn't even need to be filtered like from the other divine power I absorbed from the divine energy weapons from the shop.

However, my stupid vessel couldn't hold that much power and so had to be discarded even after I converted into the power of life.

And so here was I, trying sothing very idiotic. Assimilation. I rembered what happened last ti when I tried the assimilation. The entire world was aware of . But now, it was at a lot lower scale. I would only be absorbing two strands of power of life but the damage would still be great and many would be aware of it.

But, I had no other choice.

It was either blowing up, or it was basically telling everyone that the strange phenonon back at Bellator was my doing and whatever happened to the gangsters, and in doing so to Wesley, was all my doing.

In other words, I would be handing out evidence to Harvey to pursue this case on and I wouldn't be able to use the Alicia abduction card on him.

But I don't regret it, if I hadn't done that, there was a chance Veronica could have ended up taking over Alicia's mind. Although it was only a chance, it was a chance I could not take.

So, whatever ca next, I would have to deal with it myself. But for now, let's just survive.

[Assimilation with the power of life has begun]

[Attempt of assimilation detected]

[The universal laws have begun to take notice of you]

[The overseer has blocked all the surveillance]

[The assimilation is authorized]

[The process will now begin]

[Good luck]
