There was a faint sneering voice from the two students behind him.
"Can you imagine that?"
"Yea, look at him. Is this academy now a place soone like him can just enter?"
"His filthy appearance alone is enough to disqualify him. He's really a good match for that trashy branch."
"Yeah, toads go with frogs, hahaha..."
Oscar frowned when he heard this. It wasn't because he was going to argue with those guys, but because he could tell that the branch's image in the minds of these students was not very good. He couldn't help but wonder about his decision to co here.
After exiting the east gate of the city, he could see a big mountain a few miles away by the side of the road. When he first ca, he was passing through the south gate, so he had no idea what was going on at the east gate.
At the foot of the mountain, he saw a not-so-wide flagstone road extending up the mountain, and he could vaguely see a few huts on the hillside. He looked at the landscape before him, and decided that this should be the right path.
After walking for a while, he saw the whole fra of the compound in the close distance. There should be about a dozen huts, all of which were very simple in the earthen style. So were very old, and so have traces of refurbishnt, but the backyard was not small.
It occupied almost half of the mountainside and was surrounded by a courtyard wall.
Was this the place? No matter how Oscar looked at the place, he couldn't tell if this was what an academic environnt supposed to look like. It felt like a free-range chicken farm on the mountainside in his previous life.
Looking around, there were no other buildings. So, he quickly walked towards the house. In the distance, he could see a small gate with a plaque hanging above it. From its appearance, it seed to have been there for quite a long ti, and the words on it have weathered and blurred.
However, part of the words written on the plaque could still be vaguely seen.
This couldn't be the branch of the Mystic Peaks Academy, could it? Oscar wondered in silence. Could it be that this was a courtyard used by Mystic Peaks Academy to store sundries? Or could it be that he ca to the wrong place? After thinking about it, Oscar turned around and was about to go back the way he ca.
As soon as he turned around, he stopped to think. He seed to have missed sothing. He turned around again, took a few steps forward, and looked intently. He saw a small sign hanging on the side of the gatehouse, with a few big words written upright.
Fairland Mountain, Mystic Peaks Academy Branch.
He was stunned. Was this really the branch?
Walking to the door, Oscar hesitated for a while, not knowing whether he should knock on the door or go back and think of a way to approach this. Looking at the old appearance of this Sect's premises, even if he was to enroll in this place, what skills could he learn here?
Suddenly, the door was pushed open and and a thin small figure rushed out, bumping into Oscar's back. Oscar was thinking about sothing with his back to the door, and was frightened by this sudden collision.
Oscar wasn't the only one shocked, but the one who opened the door was also startled.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know..." Just halfway through, the person stopped talking after seeing Oscar's appearance clearly. "Who the hell are you?"
Oscar took a closer look and found that the one who bumped into him was a little girl. She looked similar in age to him, and she was pretty and cute, but for so reason, this person had the appearance and aura of a rogue. After a few fiddles, the girl turned and wanted to run away.
At this mont, soone standing by the door said. "Maya, what's going on?"
The little girl had only taken a few steps, when she heard the words. She stopped running, stomped her feet fiercely on the ground, looked back at Oscar, and replied. "Nothing, master Oberon. I heard soone knocking on the door, so I ca out to open the door."
Afterwards, the little girl shoved the thing in her hand into Oscar's hand, pulled Oscar up from the ground and walked back in through the door.
Oscar raised his hand and looked at it, and found that the little girl nad Maya had given him a small package. Thinking about what she said before, he wondered if this little girl was planning to escape from here before?
At this ti, Maya had pulled Oscar into the courtyard, where he saw a middle-aged man standing in front of the door of a large hall. He was almost two ters tall, wearing a blue mage robe, thin, with a small beard hanging under his jaw. Simply put, his face was elegant.
Maya pulled Oscar towards the front of the middle-aged man and imdiately said. "Master Oberon, this boy said he ca to join the academy." Afterwards, Maya gave Oscar a secret wink.
Oscar couldn't help laughing in his heart, and bowed to the middle-aged man. "Master Oberon, my na is Oscar Stormrider. I'm here to enroll into the Mystic Peaks Academy, sir."
"Stormrider?" The middle-aged man frowned when he heard the na, and said. "Where are you from?"
"I'm from the Birch tribe, north of the dark forest, sir."
"Stormrider... Birch clan... dark forest." Oberon repeated the words before falling into deep contemplation.
At this mont, Maya looked at Oscar curiously. She didn't know if it was because she got Oscar's good intentions at heart, or because she was full of curiosity about the newcor.
Oscar didn't say much, but smiled at Maya and showed his appreciation. But she gave him a blank look, her eyes fixed on the small bag in his hand, clearly thinking about how to get that small bag back.
