Despite knowing about the disaster, what did they do?

They just stood by and watched as the people died due to the sudden disaster, and the monster tide that ca soon after took more than a million people’s lives.

Ling Yu thought as she walked in a roundabout way to the seminar room, where a lecture had been scheduled for today.

Ling Yu entered the room and looked around. even though there is about half an hour left before the lecture starts, the room was already packed. It seems the Science Society’s influence and fa wasn’t all just empty talks.
What was more surprising was the fact that about four-thirds of the room was full of female student, when most of them wouldn’t show their faces at other lectures. What got them to be so motivated today?
Anyway, Ling Yu decided to act normally around the whole ti she had left before the disaster started. And she had money to spare, as well as to earn. She didn’t have ti to think about such trivial things.
But the room was too packed, if Ling Yu couldn’t find a seat to sit down before the class started, then she would need to stand in the corner throughout the whole class!
There is no way she was going to suffer a loss like that!
Just as Ling Yu was thinking, she heard a cheerful girly voice call her as she turned sideways, only to see a girl grinning widely and waving at her wildly.

Just as Ru Feifei was getting closer to Ling Yu, she suddenly snapped out of her daze as she ran over and hugged Ru Feifei tightly, her thoughts were ssy and all over the place.
"Oh? Suddenly so proactive? Did our crybaby miss so much that she has to hug to think it’s real?" Ru Feifei only wanted to tease her, but there was no response from Ling Yu as she was lost in her past once again.
The girl’s distinctive pink hair and purple eyes, the cheerful and bubbly smile plastered on her face... how could Ling Yu forget her?
Ru Feifei was the only loyal friend she had in her past life. She died a horrible death just to save Ling Yu from a group of brokers, who intended to sell her off in a mine.
Of course, it was a ploy created by Jiang ng, to make Ling Yu suffer right after her Astral Core was dug out from her body. But Ru Feifei opposed them and tried to help Ling Yu elope, yet fate was so cruel to them.
Not only did she fail to escape, but Ling Yu was beaten up until she couldn’t get off of the floor by herself. Ru Feifei was also raped and killed in front of her by that group of beasts wearing human skins.
Ling Yu couldn’t do anything but helplessly watch as Ru Feifei died inside the dungeon, humiliated and destroyed. That poor girl didn’t do anything wrong to suffer such a horrible death!
That’s right. The place where they bought Ru Feifei after kidnapping her was inside a dungeon. Even if the Gates opened and monsters turned people’s lives into hell, those monsters weren’t as scary as human hearts.
During the first few months of the Gates’ opening, monsters ca out in droves and destroyed many buildings, killing people indiscriminately and causing chaos all over the world. Humans were in turmoil because of the great peril they were faced with, even sothing as normal as clean water beca sky priced.
As a result, common people were dying in one way or another. But soon after, a few people awakened their hidden abilities and started to kill those monsters out of instinct. Maybe it was an instinct for survival?
After taking care of the monsters roaming outside, so of the Awakener beca bold after achieving such great power and decided to explore what was hidden inside those Gates. And after a few failed attempts, finally, a team of five ca out of the dungeon alive, without any casualties, as well as many strange things that nobody has even seen, calling them ’Reward’ for clearing the dungeon.
After that, the Awakener’s research centre was established, and more scientists started studying and researching the Gates, dividing them in sections considering their difficulty and amount of rewards, their uniquness and the monsters power level.
They also created power level for awakeners starting from the lowest capability to the highest capacity.
So of the scientists also invented so use of the strange and common stones inside the dungeons that were laveled as junk in the status window. Which made lower level dungeons into mining fields for so people’s livelihood.
However, those dungeons also got snatched from common people who intended to use them for theor survival by the local tyrants, later they started offering contracts to the people who wishes to mine in the dungeon with an unfair price.
The local governnt authority did nothing to stop them, and thus their arrogance increased with each passing day, tornting powerless people.
Another group erged within this chaos, calling themselves brokers who helps people to Awaken their inner power in exchange of a fortune. They did many illegal things which were covered by the people in power, but that story is for another day.
Unfortunately, Ru Feifei also got caught by that group of thugs under Jiang ng’s order and died miserably.
’I was really stupid in my past life. To think I even suspected Ru Feifei of trying to seduce that scumbug Xu Mochen! I shouldn’t have believed an ounce of the words that ca out of Jiang ng’s mouth!’
However, regret won’t make dead people co back to life.
