Everyone was flabbergasted.
It was as if they witnessed the world turning upside down.
From their point of view, it should not have happened but it did.
A black-class student did not only beat a red-class student but also a white-class student in just a few seconds.
Furthermore, said white-class student was Xander Maystra, allegedly the strongest student in Loogam.
"..."
Even the announcer was so shocked that he forgot his position.
"Why aren’t you announcing the result?" Mika asked.
His expression and tone appeared cold.
"Y-y-yes...!" the announcer stuttered.
"W-wait..."
"?"
But before the announcer could continue, Xander painfully lifted his upper body up.
"I...I’m not done yet...!" he stated weakly.
With great struggle, Xander got on his feet again.
Blood dripped to the ground.
Again, he prepared another spell.
Strong wind gathered inside the sphere.
And in said sphere cracks started to appear.
"M-Mr. Arma, shouldn’t we stop him?" Erwin asked out of concern for the guests.
"Let’s wait a little bit longer." Ralph replied with squinted eyes.
More and more wind gathered.
Mika sensed how he was about to levitate.
[1 minute and 21 seconds left.]
He turned to Belian.
"Shall we end this now?"
"..."
Belian had a cautious gaze.
"I can’t spare more ti for you, Xander."
Following that statent, Mika swung his sword.
It appeared like an aimless slash but then, the strong wind dispersed.
"?!"
Xander widened his eyes again in shock.
"H-how?!"
But instead of answering, Mika turned back to his usual appearance.
"Haaa..." he exhaled.
[1 minute and 17 seconds left.]
"Keh...!"
Xander coughed blood out.
"How disgraceful...!" he muttered frustrated.
At that mont, he realized that Belian stood in front of him.
"W-what...?"
"I was confident that we would win but still... It feels bitter." Belian responded.
He raised his hand, which was partly in flas.
"Tch..." Xander clicked his tongue one last ti before Belian swung his hand down.
As if his hand was a blade, Xander received a straight fire slash.
Simultaneously, Belian felt a strange sensation.
It felt like he shattered sothing akin to a blade.
Due to the fire on his clothes, the affected parts were burned off.
A dagger fell to the ground.
And just like Belian sensed, the dagger was broken due to the previous attack.
He narrowed his eye on the dagger, which gave off an unusual aura.
But he could only catch a small glimpse of it as Xander proceeded to faint and to fall on it.
"..."
There was no change among the crowd.
They still remained silent.
"T-the winner a-are Belian Ziva and M-Mika Elbar...!" the announcer declared, still not being able to believe the scene he had just witnessed.
[Quest successfully completed.]
[Reward will be distributed.]
"Hng!"
Mika suddenly grabbed his head with both hands as his head started to ache trendously.
"What’s wrong, Mika?" Belian asked as he rushed to him in a hurry.
[Sorry.]
"?"
The system’s voice was quiet but Mika still perceived that word, albeit he was busy with his headache.
"Hey, Mika! Wha-"
Belian’s concern imdiately vanished inside of him and was replaced with fear.
Anxiously, he turned his head in every direction.
His body was shivering and sweat stread down his face.
"So this ti it’s soone stronger than Yater..." Mika murmured in agony and anxiety.
Mika was still on his knees.
With one hand on the ground and the other on his head, he shifted his gaze to the back exit.
"!"
At the sa ti, the window from the VIP lounge was shattered.
Broken glass fell to the ground.
And following those falling pieces of broken glass was a person.
"Seems like the others didn’t notice yet."
It was Olivia.
Her gaze was fierce and also directed at the back exit.
"You’re-"
"No ti for introductions, brat." Olivia cut off the surprised and sweat-drowned Belian.
"Were you successful with your interrogation...?" Mika asked exhaustedly.
"Unfortunately not. That woman was stubborn until the end."
The people around them gasped out loudly after realizing that Olivia, the queen of Rostanta, stood before them.
However, Olivia, Belian and Mika ignored the noises coming from the crowd as they focused all their senses on the back exit.
anwhile, Elsa was still carrying out Olivia’s order.
She, too, sensed the mysterious and overwhelming presence but she quickly shifted her focus on the current task.
As curious as she was, she had to prioritize the people’s safety.
If the information was correct, then among the crowd were dangerous individuals.
"?"
And after not too long, a person in a coat was catching her attention.
Thus, Elsa approached that person from behind cautiously.
"Hey-"
However, before she could make the first step, the person suddenly stood up.
And it was not just that person.
A couple of other individuals, wearing the sa coat, were starting to stand up from their seats.
They were split up all over the arena.
And as if they were sent a signal, those people threw their coats into the air.
"!"
At that mont, everyone present sensed it.
"What a bad joke..." Olivia stated with a wry smile as she finally turned her head to the crowd.
"So many...?" Elsa muttered with gritted teeth as she watched the person’s back.
"Tch." Lereon clicked his tongue as he was just about to approach one of those individuals.
"Impossible... How could they get here...?!" Ophelia wondered shocked while she looked at those individuals from her spot.
Those people, who tossed their disguises into the air, revealed their black hair and eyes.
Even for normal people, it was obvious who they were.
"Now that he’s here, we can finally proceed with the next step." one of those individuals said indifferently.
It took almost a minute until the people around them could properly react.
Olivia sighed.
"It’s inevitable now."
The people scread.
They shot up from their seats. Rushed away. It did not matter where to. They just wanted to get away.
They pushed each other. Scread at each other. Their ethics and morals vanished into thin air. They just wanted to get away.
Like animals, they followed their instincts.
Despair and fear were understatents.
So made it outside.
Whereas so suffocated or got trampled on.
"How many are there...?" Belian murmured in disbelief.
"I see 16..." Olivia replied sternly.
"16 demons." she added.
A number which exceeded even her wildest imagination.
"16 d-demons..." Mika repeated taken aback.
He knew that a group was coming but 16 demons were too much.
"..."
Mika proceeded to check out each one of them until he ca to a horrifying conclusion.
"T-the majority of them is at least a B-rank..."
There were even a few, whom Mika recognized as foes on the sa tier as Yater.
In other words, there were also a few A-rank demons.
"It’s ov-"
"Ophelia! Lereon! Elsa! Protect the people!" Olivia imdiately issued a command, cutting off Mika’s pessimistic opinion.
She shifted her gaze to the first-year teachers.
Her eyes were enough to signal them to co here.
Thus, the three teachers hurried over.
"Warn the people in the capital and evacuate them!"
"Yes!" the three replied sternly.
Cindy, Ralph and Erwin left the arena behind quickly.
"..."
Olivia sweated lightly as she smirked at the demons.
"Why didn’t they move yet...?" she wondered.
The demons were just boringly watching the people run away from them.
Olivia looked over to the VIP lounge.
"Good. Seems like they managed to get away, too."
Then, the arena was almost empty.
Only a few stayed behind.
And yet, the demons were unbothered by the panic they caused.
It was like they were waiting.
"16 demons... Elsa, Lereon, maybe Ophelia...? But then..." Olivia began muttering sothing to herself pensively.
"!"
However, everyone heard the echoing sound of footsteps coming from the back exit.
The atmosphere got heavier with each footstep.
A drop of sweat rolled down Olivia’s face.
"This may be the biggest fish of my life so far..." she stated jokingly, trying to calm her nerves.
Then, the demons in the stands made their first moves.
They all just started to get on their knee with their head hung low.
At the sa ti, at the eastern border of Loogam.
"What’s happening there? I suddenly got the goosebumps..." a guard said carefreely, hugging himself.
"I don’t know... Is it maybe Xander Maystra? I heard that he’s extrely strong. Maybe that’s why you got goosebumps, haha!" another guard replied, laughing at his colleague.
However, they sensed sothing rumbling.
"Are you hungry?"
"Huh? Are you stupid? As if my stomach sounds like that!"
Then, the two looked at the ground.
"I-is the earth quaking...?"
"H-haha maybe you are imaging things...?"
The sound of rumbling got louder.
The guards shifted their gazes to the side.
In an instant, they turned pale and it felt like their hearts stopped.
The reason was a large army of different kinds of monsters heading towards Loogam.
And thus, the first step was taken towards an age, that the people in the future would refer to as the ’Dark Age’.
