Yue Yun used to be a disciple in na only under Master Lianshan after he renounced his attachnt to the main Ei sect, spending most of his ti overseas, rarely interacting with the main sect of Ei, and many of the junior mbers of the Ei Sect didn’t even know of his existence.
During the inauguration ceremony, Yue Yun sat with Yi Zhou, Master Yi Zhen, Ning Yizi, Mr. Zhong of the Kunlun Sect, and others in the guest seats, even ranking behind Ling Lingzi from the Wudang Sect.
Over the years, he only had dealings with the Three Immortals of the East Sea, but they didn’t et often. As Immortals tend to isolate themselves for cultivation, often closing off for decades or even a century, it wouldn’t be accurate to say they were particularly close.
This ti, Shi Feiyang had imitated Yue Yun’s habits excellently, even going as far as killing several disciples of Deng Yin during a duel, thereby firmly establishing his identity.
He volunteered to take charge of the lower monastery, which everyone thought was appropriate since this junior disciple had recently joined the direct lineage of the sect and wanted to contribute more to the Ei Sect.
Shi Feiyang explained the three options he had formulated, and most of the people quickly scattered, leaving behind those who wished to join the new lower monastery of Ei.
He interviewed each of these people individually, weeding out those who were there under false pretenses and the unfit, ultimately retaining only eighty-nine individuals.
Originally Xiao Yue the Zen Master divided the disciples into Buddhists and Daoists, but Shi Feiyang rged them all into one, having them all dress as Daoists.
The next day at the Jade Emperor Temple, Shi Feiyang gathered them all at the front courtyard and had them enter one by one for a discussion.
This ti, he wanted to create records. Shi Feiyang was very thorough in his questioning, eager to know every person’s details including their original nas, ages, hotowns, prior ntors, the martial arts they practiced, their weapon of choice, their unique skills, and any grievances or histories they had in Jianghu.
Among them were sons from martial arts families, young leaders from escort agencies, officials’ sons fond of martial arts practice, and even commoners hoping to change their fortunes.
One individual was particularly unique—his na was Leng Yun, and he was the Sect Leader of the Leshan Sect.
Why was he considered special? In the past, when Shi Feiyang went to Mount Yellow to seize the Heavenly Demon Immortal Slaying Sword and prevent the Demon Sword from escaping after sensing its approach, he picked a clever young man from a martial artists’ boat on the Yangtze River, imbued a strand of Immortal Energy into him, granting him the power of sixty years of cultivation. This young man was none other than Leng Yun!
Having received the strand of Immortal Energy, equivalent to sixty years of effort, Leng Yun was naturally overjoyed. However, his teacher, Sima Dexiu, an old veteran of Jianghu, sensed sothing amiss with such an abnormal occurrence.
Although they also reached Mount Yellow, Sima Dexiu was very cautious and restrained them from acting. Later, they indeed saw the Sword Immortal take action and witnessed the deaths of many without clear reasons.
Sima Dexiu extinguished the disciples’ desire for the sword, speculating that Leng Yun’s sudden gain in power was likely related to the Sword Immortal and, unable to discern the fortunes or dangers, decided to quickly lead everyone back to their ho.
The older one gets in Jianghu, the more cautious one becos. As a Sect Leader, Sima Dexiu always prioritized preserving the sect and the disciples above all.
He was already an extraordinary swordsman in the martial arts world, but he often instructed his disciples that there are always greater powers, and even if one’s martial skills reached the peak, above a swordsman there is still Sword Immortal. Should never be too arrogant, or dismissive, and must quickly retreat ho in face of danger.
However, Leng Yun was a martial prodigy. Raised with high praises and now suddenly possessing sixty years of cultivation, he couldn’t restrain his desire to prove himself. Upset at being restrained from competing for the sword on Mount Yellow by his teacher, he recognized the Sword Immortal’s power. Nonetheless, after descending the mountain, he was eager to engage in so activity to showcase his skills.
In Jianghu, where even those avoiding trouble often stumble into conflicts, soone like him who actively sought challenges was bound to attract trouble.
On his way ho from the mountain, he encountered Yu Yunzhong.
Yu Yunzhong had been courting Ling Yunfeng for many years. Ling Yunfeng always ignored him, thinking that even if her parents and a matchmaker spoke on his behalf, she would eventually marry him reluctanctly. He held onto this hope until Ling Yunfeng took Han’er as her master and directly flew away from the top of Mount Yellow with her.
Even Dai Xiangying and Dai Hengyu found their own immortal fates, leaving him with nothing.
Yu Yunzhong found an inn at the foot of the mountain, where he got extrely drunk and cried bitterly multiple tis.
Thinking he had suffered a great injustice, Leng Yun asked if he had been robbed or bullied by so thug, offering to help him.
After Yu Yunzhong explained, Leng Yun imdiately felt disdain, showing utter contempt for this bootlicking behavior.
Yu Yunzhong was already upset, and their argunt escalated into a fight. Although Yu Yunzhong, the son of a wealthy family, had learned from many martial arts masters over the years, and was quite capable himself, the newly empowered Leng Yun had just acquired sixty years’ worth of effort, while Yu Yunzhong was thoroughly drunk and could barely walk straight. Leng Yun knocked him down with just a few strikes.
Direct by nature, Leng Yun slapped him four tis to try to "wake" him up.
As the saying goes, do not insult one’s shortcomings, and do not strike one’s face when hitting soone. Yu Yunzhong was so angered that he nearly bit his teeth to pieces. Fueled by alcohol, he swore that he would not rest until he had his revenge.
After learning Leng Yun’s na and the sect he ca from, Yu Yunzhong smashed the wine jar and left.
Yu Yunzhong did not return to Changsha nor did he want to return to the south of the Yangtze River. Instead, he headed north, searching for famous mountains to find a master and learn martial arts.
He visited Wudang Mountain and encountered many who claid to be from the Wudang Sect but were frauds and swindled all his money.
He begged his way to Shaolin Temple, where Zen Master Fang Zheng told him that his desires for romantic passions and revenge disqualified him from becoming a Buddhist monk and refused to take him in.
He also went to Mingyu Immortal Market, where he t Shi Longgu.
Though barefoot and unkempt, Shi Longgu recognized his handso features. She took him back, bathed him, changed his clothes, and restored his handso appearance.
Because he claid his heart had been broken and vowed never to touch a woman again, Shi Longgu did not take him in but admired him nonetheless. She invited him for a al, gave him so Dragon Coins, and then sent him on his way.
Eventually, Yu Yunzhong headed west to Wutai Mountain, where Wand Miao Xian Gu, Xu Feiniang, took notice of him and accepted him as a disciple.
Having achieved his wish of becoming a disciple of the Sword Immortal, Yu Yunzhong trained relentlessly. After several years, he achieved the status of Sword Immortal—moving through Qingming and vanishing into thin air.
He refined his sword for ten years and beca a master. From Qinling, he entered Sichuan to seek revenge against the Leshan Sect.
At that ti, Leng Yun was not ho, but Sima Dexiu was. Hearing of this affair, he took up the matter on behalf of his disciple and dueled with Yu Yunzhong.
Sima Dexiu’s martial arts were exceptionally high, and he was a renowned swordsman in Jianghu. Despite that, he couldn’t compare to a Sword Immortal. Yu Yunzhong restrained his sword Qi, choosing not to strike with the lethal edge of his Immortal Sword, yet Sima Dexiu was still no match and ultimately died by Yu Yunzhong’s hands.
In truth, Yu Yunzhong had not intended to kill him; it was just that his resentnt was too deep.
Over the years, Yu Yunzhong had endured countless tornts as a wealthy young master. Holding his breath for ten years to exact revenge on Leng Yun, he wished to openly humiliate Leng Yun—slapping him hard across the face four tis and then kicking him so hard that he’d sprawl on the ground, gnashing his teeth until his mouth bled. He wanted to return all the humiliations he had suffered back to Leng Yun!
And that is exactly what he did to Sima Dexiu: he slapped him four tis and kicked him.
Unable to bear such humiliation, and overwheld with rage, Sima Dexiu fell gravely ill. By the ti Leng Yun returned, Sima Dexiu had passed the leadership to him and told him that the sufferings he endured were on behalf of Leng Yun—the old grievances settled. He instructed Leng Yun not to seek revenge against Yu Yunzhong and to find a Sword Immortal to beco his master before severing his life channels and dying.
Naturally, Leng Yun could not forgo revenge. He had initiated the conflict, and his master had died because of him—he would not fail in his duties as a disciple!
However, he also knew he was no match for Yu Yunzhong. So, he harbored his hatred, spent years diligently practicing his sect’s martial arts, and sought everywhere for ways to beco a disciple of a Sword Immortal. After many attempts and countless visits to Ei Mountain without success, he rushed to beco a disciple when Zen Master Xiao Yue opened the mountain for teaching...
Shi Feiyang listened to his story in awe of the mysterious ways of fate.
Many years had passed, and Leng Yun had beco much more composed. Being naturally intelligent and gifted, Shi Feiyang promoted him and formally accepted him as a registered disciple under the na Yue Yun.
He employed Leng Yun to serve closely, starting with clerical work, organizing the records of eighty-nine disciples ticulously without any omissions before passing on the foundational Immortal Cultivation Techniques from the Immortal Sect.
Next, he had Leng Yun record the martial arts practiced by each person. These eighty-nine disciples ca from diverse origins, and most had so martial arts experience. Shi Feiyang cataloged their previous training, assessed, and improved it. Once all the skills were aggregated, he derived so basic components based on the ’Nine Heavens Mysterious Scripture’ and the ’Shaqing Secret Manual’ from the Ei Sect, infusing these into the martial arts to compile a new cultivation technique.
Starting with foundational martial arts techniques from the ’Nine Heavens Mysterious Scripture,’ he devised a set of internal ntal thods.
He also extracted several sets of swordsmanship...
As well as Qinggong, hidden weapons, and more.
While working through this, he found the process intriguing. Two sects, Wutai and Ei, historical arch-enemies, their combat techniques were actually all devised by himself, albeit with different emphases.
When they faced off in their third swordfight, it was unpredictable what might occur.
Musing on this, Shi Feiyang incorporated many special moves into the Ei swordsmanship and skills—to allow Ei to counter Wutai, and Wutai to counter Ei, so to enhance mutual support if they worked together, significantly increasing their power, even involving the Fusion of Dual Swords. So moves were incredibly fierce!
He spent months perfecting the Ei lower academy’s martial arts—not only ordinary martial arts but also techniques for remote sword control, linking them upward to the internal Immortal Cultivation Techniques of the upper academy.
