140: Chapter 140 Saving People 140: Chapter 140 Saving People Having slain two wolves, Ji Yang’s gaze swept around once more until he was certain no other beasts were in sight, then he finally exhaled in relief.
Although he had killed the wolves just monts ago, it had nearly exhausted all his ntal energy, an experience he had never encountered before.
Looking up, he realized they were on a suspended stone platform, with a tree growing there, leaning against the platform—they had climbed up by following the tree.
At this ti, there were five people on the platform, but only three were looking down, each with a look of shock as their eyes t Ji Yang’s.
They had never imagined that Ji Yang could have killed such ferocious wolves.
“It worked!” As they spoke, several people started to get excited.
One girl even burst into sobbing aloud.
“Secretary Ning, how are you all doing?” Ji Yang asked at that mont.
Following Ji Yang’s inquiry, one person, as if snapping back to reality, hurriedly said, “Quick, quick, save them!”
Ning Weisheng also looked anxiously at Ji Yang and said, “Chief Ji, help with the rescue, soone is in critical condition.”
Ji Yang was startled and quickly said, “Don’t panic, help get down.”
Ning Weisheng managed a bitter smile and said, “Do you have any food with you?
We are so tired and hungry, we’ve nearly collapsed, and we have no strength left.”
Ji Yang rapidly climbed up and only then did he see that two people were lying there, clearly suffering from unrelenting fevers, and another seed to be bleeding—it was unclear whether from a bite or sothing else.
He passed over a few loaves of bread he had brought, then lifted one of the injured and descended the tree before laying the person down on the ground.
After going back and forth a few tis, he even carried Ning Weisheng down from the platform.
Only then did Ji Yang say, “After you all disappeared, everyone was searching for you.”
“It’s a long story!” sighed one of them.
“Let’s not talk about it now.
Let’s rescue everyone first.”
“As you say.”
Seeing Ji Yang’s prowess in killing the wolves, everyone seed to find a pillar of strength.
“Can you walk?”
“Now that we’ve had sothing to eat, we have a little strength.”
“Good, I will carry the injured in front, and you follow behind.”
“But there are two of them.”
Without further discussion, Ji Yang took one person on his back and said, “I’ll carry one and hold another, just follow .”
“This…”
They saw Ji Yang had already picked up another person.
Only then did they realize the person was a girl, suffering from a fever with her hair disheveled; it hadn’t been clear that she was a woman before.
Without further ado, Ji Yang simply moved forward.
Seeing Ji Yang’s display of strength, Ning Weisheng and the others were shocked, not expecting Chief Ji to be so powerfully built.
“Keep up.”
The few of them could do nothing but support each other and swiftly follow behind.
Because Ji Yang had cleared the path on the way there, walking back did not pose much of a problem.
Even so, Ji Yang’s pace did not lag behind that of the three people, pressing on ahead.
Soon, Ji Yang reached the area that had been washed over by the flash flood.
Due to a recent collapse, the area was covered in mud and rocks, which made everyone’s faces turn grim at the sight.
If they couldn’t get across, taking a detour could lead anywhere, possibly even to getting lost.
Ji Yang first set down the people he was carrying, then turned to the others and said, “Let’s take a break.”
“Chief Ji, how do we get through this kind of terrain?” Ning Weisheng asked, puzzled.
Ji Yang addressed the two unconscious people, “We could take a detour, but they can’t afford the delay.
We have no choice but to cross here.”
“But…”
Everyone looked at the terrain ahead, unsure how they would be able to get across.
“I’ll scout ahead.”
After saying this, Ji Yang stood and carefully observed the landscape.
Sure enough, beneath the mudslide, there were so boulders in the region that would have been difficult to navigate for most, but Ji Yang had his own plan.
As long as there was sothing to leverage, he could make it through.
The area was dense with trees, and Ji Yang started transporting so to bridge between the large rocks.
As he set up the makeshift bridges, the others began to realize that Ji Yang was creating a path.
But, could those bridges of tree trunks really work?
“Chief Ji, will this actually hold?” a young man from the Capital City asked curiously.
“It should be no problem.”
Ji Yang had no ti for idle talk, as he looked up the mountain, uncertain when another landslide might occur.
After securing the unconscious man to his back with vines, Ji Yang, ensuring everything was safe, charged across.
“You…” The three watched in amazent, wanting to shout, but Ji Yang had already dashed ahead.
They then saw him stepping swiftly over rocks and tree trunks, reaching the middle area.
Before they had ti to react, Ji Yang had carried the person to the other side.
“This…”
The two people from the Capital City were completely stunned, and the girl’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
When they looked at Ji Yang again, he had already unbound the person and ca rushing back.
After transporting the two unconscious people across, Ji Yang ca back and addressed the three, “I’ll take you across now.”
Without waiting any longer, he had the girl climb on his back; this ti he did not secure her with vines but simply charged forward.
Luckily, the makeshift bridges he had constructed held firm, and he managed to safely transport everyone across.
At that mont, the separated hunters had just returned with the search party, and upon seeing them, everyone was visibly excited.
