Originally, it was just a farce, but because of Conrad Sterling’s unexpected return, it was pushed to a climax.
Conrad Sterling, dressed in a black suit, was carrying a business bag.
It seed like he rushed over without even having ti to put down his things.
The man walked with long strides, and everyone present instinctively held their breath.
"President Sterling." Coco started to speak but didn’t get to say much.
He was cut off by Conrad Sterling: "Anna Thornton, co with !"
Among all the people present, Conrad Sterling only had eyes for Anna Thornton.
"Oh."
Anna Thornton followed him back to her studio, and as soon as the door closed, the man suddenly leaned in and kissed her.
With a scent of dominant pheromones invading, Anna Thornton didn’t resist, opening her red lips and placing her hand on the man’s shoulder.
"Mmm..."
They kissed for over ten minutes before Anna Thornton was finally released a little.
"Why didn’t you answer the phone? Why didn’t you reply to my ssages?"
"Did you send ssages? I was reviewing the script later, so I didn’t know. ... Weren’t you supposed to be on a business trip and coming back to Aethelgard tomorrow night? Did you actually rush back just because of this?" Anna Thornton’s voice grew softer.
She knew she was at fault, which was why she allowed Conrad Sterling to kiss her like a ravenous wolf.
"What do you think?"
Conrad Sterling had sent her dozens of consecutive ssages, none of which were answered.
He called, but she didn’t pick up; how could he not be anxious?
Judging by the man’s slightly gritted teeth, it was clear he truly ca back for Anna Thornton.
They had just reconciled, and Conrad Sterling constantly worried about unexpected changes, lacking a sense of security.
"What about your eting? So many employees are waiting."
"Changed to an online eting! Taking place in ten minutes, I’ll do it right here!" Conrad Sterling had his computer all set up.
Yet when he glanced at the ti, damn it, he was late.
The so-called ten minutes was the ti he reached this company, just having kissed Anna Thornton, he lost track, far exceeded it.
The man sat down in the small red leather single sofa in Anna Thornton’s studio and entered work mode.
Anna Thornton didn’t disturb him; she happened to be a bit thirsty, intending to make coffee and grabbed an extra cup.
However, just as she opened the door to head to the pantry, Mary was waiting outside to mock her: "Anna, I know recently you’ve been taking so hormone treatnts, leading to a radiant glow."
"What are you trying to say?"
"Go touch up your lipstick, it’s all gone. President Sterling’s kissing skills are impressive!"
Anna Thornton rolled her eyes at her, handed Mary the two coffee cups, and went to the bathroom to touch up her lipstick.
Others in the company didn’t know, still assuming Conrad Sterling suddenly ca to find Anna Thornton was surely for so explanation regarding Angela Thornton.
Speculations arose on whether President Sterling might fly into a rage for his beauty, forcing Anna Thornton out for Angela Thornton.
Kicking her out would be great; as soon as the leading woman left, others felt they had the chance to rise.
Conrad Sterling’s eting lasted nearly forty minutes.
Anna Thornton didn’t interrupt, sitting on the sofa next to him reading scripts.
The best state for the two to stay together is like this, not coming back from miles away for anything much, just being sure the person cherished is nearby.
No need to communicate with each other, without awkwardness.
Yet after Conrad Sterling finished the eting, closing the laptop, he started to think about ’doing sothing.’
Anna Thornton sensed the man standing up and squeezing closer, seeing through his thoughts.
"This is my studio, don’t even think about it!"
"Anna, your studio has a rest area."
"This is a shared studio for three people, Mary and Faye Duval could co in at any ti, please, President Sterling, don’t act indecently during the day."
Anna Thornton slapped away Conrad Sterling’s paw from her chest and directly smacked him with the script.
"If you’re idle, help rehearse the lines."
"What role are you playing?"
"Qingluan!" Anna Thornton pointed it out to him, "She’s a serene and elegant fairy who doesn’t partake in worldly matters! Isn’t she just like in real life?"
Conrad Sterling quickly flipped through the script and pointed to the scene he focused on: "I can rehearse this scene with you."
"Young man, your eyes are sharp!"
In the entire play, Anna Thornton had only this one passionate scene, which Conrad Sterling managed to find.
"Scenes like this don’t need prior preparation, improvisation on set is totally enough; you should go back to your company."
Anna Thornton observed Conrad Sterling’s face as it gradually darkened after carefully studying that scene, probably next he’d question why there were such scenes and then obstruct her from doing her actual work, so she wants to send him away in advance...
The man glanced at her, unmoving as a mountain.
"Hey, Conrad Sterling! You’ve been in my studio too long, don’t you know it raises suspicion?"
"Anyone who dares speak nonsense, I’ll silence them!"
"There’re plenty who chatter wildly, how can you manage to know them all?" Anna Thornton spoke with hidden aning.
Along the way, she took out her phone to text Mary, lest she and Faye waited outside for too long.
Mary was even planning to take Faye downstairs for afternoon tea, sitting for two or three hours before coming back, giving them ample ti.
Seeing President Sterling’s urgency, rushing back from a business trip, did they actually not have any conflicts?
After Mary entered, she quickly gave Anna Thornton a knowing look.
"The matter of being bullied inside the company, quickly ntion it while President Sterling’s here! Let them realize who truly has the big boss backing!"
Anna Thornton understood Mary’s intention, yet still didn’t speak.
To be honest, initially knowing the rumors Angela Thornton spread within the company, Anna Thornton hadn’t taken them seriously.
The only strange thing was, however poor Angela Thornton’s acting skills were, so many people could actually believe it?
Are there truly that many fools in the world?
Until today, after seeing Coco, Anna Thornton finally realized that Starlight Entertainnt had so many mid-to-high level executives helping Angela Thornton perpetuate lies, giving her the most special and highest-spec treatnt in the makeup room, even spreading rumors that Conrad Sterling personally called to demand an apology...
Angela Thornton was simply coming to Aethelgard from Veridia to make a living; how could she have such capability and connections?
Or, is there soone behind the scenes orchestrating things, ultimately aiming to target Anna Thornton?
She still needs to look into it!
"What are you thinking about?"
Conrad Sterling noticed her distracted, catching Anna Thornton’s hand.
When Anna Thornton ca to, she found herself sitting on the man’s lap.
Conrad Sterling had strong possessiveness, during his busy monts, once not occupied, he wouldn’t allow Anna Thornton to be distracted in their communication, who knew where her mind wandered, could she be contemplating shooting the passionate scene with so actor from the script?
"Conrad Sterling, be serious, there are others here!"
"No, no! I don’t see anything!" Mary remarked, "You don’t need to regard as human!"
Face blushingly, Faye Duval followed, nodding: " neither!"
Anna Thornton: "..."
The outside of Anna Thornton’s studio—
Many ears pressed against the door, trying to eavesdrop on what’s being said inside.
"Is President Sterling here to demand justice for Angela?"
"Of course! Our company’s got only Anna Thornton lacking tact, daring to bully President Sterling’s girlfriend, she’s dood!"
"What’s truly happening inside? I can’t hear anything; President Sterling has been there for quite a while, hasn’t he?"
"Could it be President Sterling is hitting Anna Thornton?"
"So thrilling, President Sterling would surely look cool hitting soone too!"
"Hey, don’t crowd, I’m about to fall!"
And indeed, soone did fall!
The studio door was bumped open from outside, revealing everyone the sight of Anna Thornton sitting on Conrad Sterling’s lap.
