Conrad Sterling, this man, sent her a car, yet he’s so dishonest!

He actually kept a spare car key for himself!

Anna Thornton glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Since Conrad Sterling wouldn’t get out, she had to personally invite him out of the car: "Sorry, we’re not going the sa way. Let Ethan take you back to the hospital."

"Where are you planning to go?" Conrad Sterling asked Anna Thornton.

"I’m going ho!"

"Great, I’m going ho too!"

"Aren’t you still supposed to be in the hospital?"

"Do you care?"

Anna Thornton: "... Fine."

Anna really didn’t care when Conrad was discharged.

After all, it was his own decision; if he gets an infection and loses his leg, Anna wouldn’t be responsible for it.

She originally thought she could enjoy so peace for a while longer.

Mary finished a call and saw through the car window that Conrad Sterling was in Anna Thornton’s car, so she promptly excused herself: "Well, Anna, I’ll take a taxi back. We can chat about work online later."

"Alright."

Anna Thornton didn’t force Conrad out of the car and didn’t speak to him afterward.

On the way, she was supposed to pick up Pop from kindergarten.

"Mommy~"

Pop, with her little backpack, was led out of school by the teacher. As soon as she saw Anna Thornton, she imdiately let go of the teacher’s hand and ran to hug her mommy’s leg.

"Pop, what’s wrong?"

Anna noticed her little girl’s eyes were red. She crouched down to ask her, but Pop just shook her head and stayed silent.

Anna had to ask the teacher, "Was Pop bullied at school?"

"No, Pop is very popular in class. All the kids want to play with her, and she’s received many little gifts from boys shortly after starting school."

"Then why does she look so upset?"

"Maybe she’s troubled by sothing," the teacher suggested. "Mrs. Sterling, sotis adult emotions can affect children too. Recently, Pop hasn’t been eager to answer questions in class, and she’s not been very lively during breaks, sowhat withdrawn. Could it be that there’s so conflict between you parents?"

"No, there’s not!"

"But from what I’ve observed, recently, it’s always been you or the nanny picking her up from school. I haven’t seen Mr. Sterling in a while."

"Uh... he had a car accident a while ago and couldn’t make it, but he’s here today."

As soon as Pop heard that Daddy was picking her up, she happily let go of Anna and climbed into the car, crawling from the front seat to the back.

When Anna returned to the car, she saw Pop sitting with her little feet next to Conrad, her little backpack on his lap, taking out the drawing her teacher taught her to make in class to show Daddy.

Even though the drawing was just a ss of scribbles, Conrad pretended to look at it very seriously.

This father-daughter pair... since when did they beco so close?

Upon arriving at the Sterling Residence, Anna got out of the car first with Pop.

In fact, Conrad was still not very able-bodied, with a brace on his leg that needed more ti before it could be removed.

But recalling his appearance at the premiere, Anna never thought he’d be so unsteady on his feet upon exiting a car.

Seeing her daddy about to fall, Pop rushed over to hug his leg to support him.

But how could soone as short as Pop support him? It had to be Anna who ca over, allowing Conrad to lean his hand on her shoulder, practically leaning his whole body close.

"Conrad, I won’t discuss grievances with you in front of Pop."

"It seems we’ve reached an understanding," he whispered in her ear.

"But don’t push it with your constant pity act. For the dignified president of Sterling Group, you sure have so gall."

It seed like ages since Anna last retorted to soone.

Yet, Conrad didn’t respond coldly this ti, finding it rather comforting, in fact.

It appeared that prematurely getting discharged and returning ho was the right call. Compared to wondering alone in the hospital, he’d rather face this woman’s resentnt—which was sohow more comfortable.

"Miss Thornton, little Miss, you’ve returned!"

Granny Chandler first saw Anna Thornton and Pop, then seeing Conrad behind them, exclaid joyfully: "Miss Thornton, you’re finally willing to bring President Sterling ho."

Could Anna say she wasn’t willing?

If only the car accident had claid Conrad’s life, she and her daughter would be bathing in inheritance money by now.

After casually tossing Conrad onto the sofa, Anna scooped up her little girl and planted a kiss on her soft cheek: "Let’s go, Mommy will take you to play gas."

"What about Daddy?"

"He just got back and needs to rest."

"Oh~"

Anna felt that Pop crying at school was sothing more than ets the eye.

Because of the movie release, she had been very busy lately and likely neglected her daughter. She decided to spend more ti compensating when she had a chance.

As they went off to play, Conrad returned to his room only to find it had been overtaken by the mother and daughter during his absence.

The light gray carpet was strewn with toys and Legos, and the vanity was cluttered with skincare products, many of which had been used earlier that morning without their caps replaced.

It seed the vanity Conrad had custom made for Anna wasn’t in vain.

Feeling a bit tired, he nudged a life-sized Doraemon plush aside, lying down only to be poked by sothing—finding it to be a hair clip bedazzled with rhinestones.

Conrad couldn’t figure out if it belonged to Pop or Anna.

Holding the hair clip in his hand, for the first ti in two months, Conrad peacefully drifted off to sleep.

Later, he was awakened by the ringing of a phone.

"President Sterling, we’ve detained the director of that psychiatric hospital. He admitted to acting under Holly Sutton’s orders to hold Miss Thornton there for so ti. He is willing to testify that Holly was the mastermind."

Ever since discovering Anna’s past ordeal four years ago, Conrad’s temples throbbed every ti he heard the words "psychiatric hospital."

"Is that all?"

"Uh... Regarding Holly Sutton drugging Miss Thornton’s father, that case is quite old, making it difficult to find evidence. But rest assured, even without evidence we can manufacture it. Ultimately, we will prove her guilt, ensuring she returns the Thornton company’s assets entirely, and then a life for a life!"

"A life for a life? Too lenient for her."

Holly Sutton was responsible not just for Anna’s father’s death, but also for their newborn child.

Conrad didn’t know how he could ever make ands; he reckoned in the hospital that Anna might never forgive him or forget the past in her lifeti.

But doing nothing wasn’t an option!

Therefore, he planned to fulfill her every desire!

Leaving Holly Sutton with nothing and ensuring an agonizing end was Conrad’s first compensation to Anna.
