The next morning, Anna Thornton wished she could curse out Conrad Sterling’s ancestors for eighteen generations.

She struggled to support her waist, spending five minutes putting her aching and limp bones back in place before sitting up in bed.

With the curtains drawn, Anna couldn’t tell what ti it was.

When she felt for her phone beside the bed, she found it had been silenced by soone, with over twenty missed calls from Dylan White.

Checking the ti, it was noon, twelve o’clock.

Anna grumbled as she once again cursed Conrad Sterling’s ancestors.

After changing clothes, she hurried downstairs.

Just as Granny Chandler called her, "Miss Thornton, you’re up? Co and eat."

At this ti, the table was already set with a sumptuous lunch.

But Anna had no ti to eat, "I won’t be eating, I have sothing urgent to attend to."

"But you haven’t had breakfast, how can that be?"

"No problem, I’ll just get sothing to eat on the way."

With that, Anna ran over and quickly planted a kiss on Pop’s soft cheek, "Baby, Mommy’s going out for a while, be good at ho, okay? If you need anything, go find Daddy!"

Though she said to find Daddy if anything cos up, Anna thought back to the ’tornt’ Conrad Sterling put her through last night, causing her this morning not only to be late but to directly miss the ti she’d agreed upon with Dylan White. It fueled her fury.

Before leaving she gave Pop a kiss, but for that man, she just shot a glare!

As soon as Anna left, Conrad Sterling got a call.

"President Sterling, we’ve found out that Miss Thornton just booked two high-speed rail tickets to Veridia, and they depart in an hour!"

Upon hearing this, Conrad narrowed his eyes slightly, "Two tickets?"

Since that day at the café, Conrad knew sothing was off about this woman, so he paid extra attention to Anna Thornton.

Knowing that her claim about leaving ho for a few days for the event was a lie didn’t surprise him; he hadn’t expected that after preventing her once, she was still so determined to go back to Veridia, and with another man no less.

After hanging up, seeing Pop constantly looking in Anna’s direction as she left, Conrad asked, "Are you worried about Mommy?"

The little darling nodded.

"Then do you want to go find her?"

The little darling nodded again.

...

"Anna, over here!"

After rushing to the station, Anna finally t up with Dylan White.

Dylan had co over early that morning and had been waiting at the station for at least five hours.

Because their agreed eting ti was in the morning, but upon arriving here, his calls went unanswered.

Anna hadn’t given him any other contact details, nor did he know where she lived.

So all Dylan could do was wait at the station helplessly, his originally ticulously styled hair showing signs of impatience, wasting so much hair gel.

Anna noticed and imdiately put on a very apologetic look, "I’m really sorry, Dylan, you must have waited a long ti, huh? This morning I spent a long ti coaxing the kid, since I’m going far away today."

At this point, Anna had no choice but to remotely shift the bla onto the ever-obedient Pop.

She was afraid if she admitted she’d overslept, Dylan would have wanted to throw her off the train.

"No worries, I understand. It’s got to be tough managing a kid on your own." Dylan, looking at Anna’s beautiful face, couldn’t find it in himself to be upset.

"Anna, your outfit today seems quite different, you must have put so thought into it, huh?"

"Could you tell?"

Anna was wearing a knitted long dress today. She didn’t want to envelop herself tightly in this hot sumr.

All to bla that damned Conrad the rascal! Last night, inexplicably having such interest, tornting until midnight!

The choker on Anna’s neck was used to cover up the marks the man left.

Fortunately, with her natural beauty, anything she wore appeared thoughtfully styled. The long knitted dress accentuated her graceful figure, and the choker mix looked both striking and chic.

Dylan probably thought Anna dressed up to et him and was secretly delighted, which is why he didn’t mind the delay.

"Anna, you haven’t eaten yet, have you? I bought sothing for you. The food on the train is awful, and I rember you were very picky about taste before, so after getting your call I specially ordered lunch from a high-end restaurant for you."

Dylan opened the lunch box in his hand and laid it out on the small table in front of Anna.

"Wow, it looks so fancy! After all these years, I’m not as picky as before, having sothing to eat is already good enough. But Dylan, thank you for taking care of like this."

The gratitude and admiration Anna appropriately expressed made Dylan very pleased.

What man wouldn’t enjoy a mont like this? Seeing the once unattainable goddess now down-and-out, requiring his pity, this could well maximize a man’s vanity.

However, Anna knew Conrad, when she was down-and-out, he wouldn’t help but would rather step on her!

Conrad was probably a nutcase, impossible to comprehend with normal human logic.

Anna tasted the food Dylan brought; although slightly cold, the flavor was indeed excellent.

"Idiot!" At this mont, behind Anna five seats away, Conrad Sterling made a snide comnt, "Eating food from a man with ulterior motives, darelessly!"

From Aethelgard to Veridia, driving takes half a day, but by high-speed rail it only takes two hours.

This was why Dylan White and Anna Thornton chose the train, and why Conrad Sterling showed up here.

Choosing a seat behind Anna’s back was to keep an eye on the little woman.

And, temporarily not wanting to let the little woman discover him.

Though a person his size didn’t hide easily, especially while carrying a little bundle of cuteness that could make one’s nose bleed.

Now, sitting beside Conrad was an elderly lady, and across the aisle was an old man, both staring at him inquisitively.

"Young man, is this your child? How old is she?"

"Where’s your wife? Are you alone with your daughter?"

"Where do you live? What’s the child’s na? What’s your last na?"

The elderly lady enjoyed prying, but Conrad didn’t have the patience for this.

His eyes remained fixed in Anna’s direction, barely sparing a thought to respond, "Does asking all this relate to you?"

"No worries, just casually asking on the boring ride. You’re really sothing, young man. Do you treat elders like this at ho?"

Conrad, apart from Aunt Murray, had no elders, so he never interacted with such grandfather-grandmother-aged folks.

If he ever encountered the elderly or children before, he’d avoid them as much as possible.

The old lady guessed from his deanor that he wasn’t a person easy to get close to, yet he was with such a young child, which aroused her suspicion.

Given how cold Conrad looked, it was no wonder she suspected. He seed out of place here.

The old lady intentionally asked him questions probing, most likely mistaking him for a human trafficker.

Seeing Conrad wasn’t responding, she signaled the old man across the aisle.

They seed ready to alert personnel when an attendant passed by.
