It’s rare for Henry Willow to go to the office, his suit made him sweat, even the bandages were soaked.
He finally returned to his own office, just took off his coat, and there was a knock on the door.
Henry thought it was his first day at the company, and Anna Thornton would be the first one to co congratulate him.
But unexpectedly, it was Marilyn Ford and her agent Sharon Langley who ca in after knocking.
Marilyn has been wearing sunglasses these recent days at the company, even inside Henry’s office, she kept them on.
"Oh, it’s Marilyn!"
"I actually saw you downstairs just now, but you were being interviewed, so there were too many people to greet," Marilyn asked Henry, "Are you feeling better? How co you still have injuries? Was Conrad really rushing you to co back to work? You should be resting in the hospital given your current condition!"
"Yeah, Young Master Sterling forcibly dragged out of the hospital, saying the company couldn’t function without after the previous manager got transferred." Henry smiled bitterly.
"Why did Conrad suddenly transfer Jane Jennings away...What’s the reason?" Marilyn inquired.
"That I don’t know. I barely concern myself with my own family business, let alone ddle with Young Master Sterling’s affairs. However, after lying down so long I felt rusty, so I ca back to the entertainnt company, where I can see beautiful won every day, refreshing!"
"By the way, Marilyn, you ca to see for sothing?" Henry asked.
Before Marilyn could reply, Sharon Langley spoke up, "Here’s the situation, we’ve been signed to Dynasty Entertainnt...no, it should be Starlight Entertainnt now! Our contracts for artists are three-year terms, and Marilyn’s contract is up in three months."
It seems Marilyn and Sharon planned this out, letting Marilyn handle the chit-chat while Sharon goes for the main topic today. They likely couldn’t hold back after seeing the company’s rebranding news.
"Here’s the deal, President Willow, Jubilant Entertainnt has privately approached us several tis. They offered a huge sum, but Marilyn hasn’t budged yet. She’s sentintal, and Dynasty ans more to us than just an entertainnt company, I’m sure you understand my point?"
Henry got it!
Today Marilyn brought her agent along, one playing the good cop, and the other the bad cop, to discuss whether or not to renew the contract.
Isn’t there a saying that every grand departure is ant to be retained?
Perhaps Marilyn isn’t looking to leave but testing Conrad Sterling’s attitude through Henry.
Henry nodded, "I understand what you an. Actually, Marilyn is very talented, and I believe a gold shining star will be recognized anywhere. Although I’m not sure how Manager Jennings used to operate, my preference is not to impose on others, especially since I’m good friends with Marilyn...It’s really up to you to decide, if Jubilant’s offer truly tempts you and Marilyn feels it’s better for her developnt, I wouldn’t force you!"
Henry’s response was not what Marilyn wanted to hear.
Even Sharon was unsure how to respond, since their goal was not to leave but to pressure the company.
But Marilyn didn’t expect Henry’s straightforward answer, seemingly pushing her to leave?
Is this Henry’s opinion, or Conrad Sterling’s?
Sharon couldn’t help but remind him, "President Willow, Marilyn originally joined the company through personal negotiations with President Sterling. The contract expiration is no small matter, shouldn’t you consult him?"
"No need for that, Young Master Sterling entrusted with the full charge of the company’s operation, and he made it clear that he doesn’t like to ddle in entertainnt matters."
Marilyn placed her hand on her lap, almost tearing a hole in her high-end custom dress, "Is he really that angry with ? Not even bothering about my stay or leave?"
"Marilyn, what happened between you and Young Master Sterling, I’m not sure, what I said just reflects my own opinion," Henry emphasized.
Upon hearing this, Marilyn lightly laughed.
Then, she removed her sunglasses, revealing her swollen eyes, unable to hide even with makeup, "Henry, you said we’ve been good friends for many years, so I won’t hide it from you. Conrad suddenly transferred Jane Jennings and renad the company, is he telling ...that it’s over between us?"
"Ugh! You and Young Master Sterling were about to get engaged, what exactly happened to make it end like this?" Henry sighed regretfully, feigning ignorance expertly.
"It was... just a misunderstanding!" Marilyn vaguely explained, "Nothing significant!"
"Marilyn, forgive my bluntness, from what I know of Young Master Sterling, what misunderstanding can’t he see through? If he’s this upset, it must not be trivial."
Yes, Conrad Sterling is such a smart person, how could he be easily deceived?
Marilyn knew this well, yet poked at his Achilles heel, making a significant mistake.
No need for Henry to elaborate, Marilyn secretly regretted her actions these past few days.
But it’s co to this, she understands Conrad Sterling’s temperant, once he decides, there’s no turning it back.
Yet she still couldn’t help but want to try.
Henry and Conrad Sterling are best friends, Marilyn initially pinned all her hopes on him.
But now even Henry seems to imply it’s ti for her to give up, could it be that reconciliation with Conrad really is hopeless?
Marilyn had been with Conrad Sterling for so many years, he pursued her fervently back then; she never imagined she’d lose him due to a montary mistake.
This is unacceptable for anyone.
Suddenly, Marilyn’s gaze caught on the docunts Henry was organizing.
"What’s that?"
"Oh, this is Young Master Sterling’s first task for , to expand the artist roster and bring in a few actresses after taking over the company."
Conrad Sterling never signed other female artists under Dynasty Entertainnt to prevent them from diverting resources from Marilyn.
Now, with the rebranding, he’s recruiting several actresses, was it ant to publicly humiliate her?
Marilyn silently gritted her teeth until she tasted blood and finally couldn’t hold back, directly asking, "Henry, if you still consider a friend, give a straight answer, does Conrad have another woman?"
"No!"
"Stop lying to , my dad saw so woman driving Conrad’s car out of Sterling Residence one morning, he even took her ho overnight."
"Uh..."
Bla Conrad Sterling for failing to conceal his secretive affair properly!
While Henry contemplated how to cover for Young Master Sterling, Marilyn was already pressing on, "Who is she? Do we know her? Is she from the company?"
