"So... Young Master Grant, are you serious about what you just said?" Anna Thornton cautiously asked the man sitting in front of her.
"Does it look like I’m joking?" Finn Grant retorted.
It’s not a joke, but if he really followed through with his words and married Anna Thornton, this Grant family young master would beco a laughingstock.
Considering his wealthy family background, even if he has a few minor flaws, it would be unnecessary to marry a woman who already has a child, whose father is unknown, and make her Mrs. Grant.
Even though it’s already the 21st century, the traditional values of the elite families in Aethelgard remain strict and conservative.
Furthermore, Anna Thornton is no ordinary person; she is already a scandal-ridden starlet, with rumors spreading throughout Aethelgard. Recently, she was entangled with Conrad Sterling and was mocked by the dia, who insulted her while flattering Marilyn Ford.
They said she lacked propriety and was eager to find soone to take responsibility upon returning to the country.
Although those dia outlets later went bankrupt, they had never seen soone like Finn Grant rushing to put a green hat on himself.
But since he said he wasn’t joking, Anna Thornton decided to sit down and have a proper discussion with him.
"My reputation isn’t good, I have a child, and no background. If you say you want to marry , how do you plan to help establish myself in the Grant family?"
"Who says you don’t have a background? After we marry, won’t I be your background?" Finn Grant stated matter-of-factly.
To be honest, if you disregard other factors, Finn Grant’s tone now resembles a domineering CEO in a novel, throwing money around just to make a beauty smile.
If he were a normal person, this scene might have actually stirred Anna Thornton’s girlish heart.
However, this ’background’ sotis can’t even control himself, so Anna Thornton didn’t expect to rely on him for the rest of her life.
"And what about my daughter?" Anna Thornton continued to ask.
Upon hearing this, Finn Grant furrowed his brow and after a brief silence, as if making a significant concession, he spoke: "After marriage, you can bring her to live with us, but she can’t take the Grant na, nor will she get a share of my family’s wealth as compensation, you must at least give five children."
Upon hearing this, Anna Thornton couldn’t help but chuckle: "Pfft..."
Five children? Why not just ask for a whole soccer team?
Does he think it’s still that era, treating people as breeding machines?
Anna felt discontent but tried to maintain a calm deanor while discussing the logistics with Finn Grant: "Considering pregnancy and postnatal care, if we calculate one child every two years, five children would an it would take ten years. I’m twenty-two this year; fulfilling your so-called compensation will make thirty-two, way past my pri as an actress. How can I still work then?"
Not to ntion that having multiple children will accelerate aging and ruin one’s figure... Each of these is a fatal blow to an actress.
"After marrying , I’ll support you; you won’t need to work anymore," Finn Grant arrogantly declared, "Even if you work yourself to death and beco a sowhat successful actress, your annual inco is only a fraction of mine."
Finn Grant’s implication was that marrying him would be the pinnacle of Anna Thornton’s life.
It was incomprehensible to him why this woman would hesitate over such a trivial acting career when a chance to completely change her life was right before her eyes.
"Young Master Grant, you know Marilyn Ford, right? By birth alone, she’s at a final line many strive their whole lives for but can’t reach. She could just lay in bed and be a princess waited on hand and foot, so why enter the acting world? Your children will also be born into wealth; will you not let them study, not let them work hard since they have a financially capable father? Or is it because I’m a woman... so you think won should only be accessories to n, not needing to find their own value?"
Anna Thornton’s words stumped Finn Grant.
"If that’s how you think, I can only say that our values differ far too much. So you can see, we’re not suitable, right?"
After speaking, Anna Thornton noted Finn Grant’s lack of rebuttal and seized the opportunity to stand up and leave.
However, just as she moved one step, the man in front suddenly slamd the table: "Sit down! Did I say you could leave?"
"Young Master Grant, I think our discussion should end here."
"You think? You think I brought you here tonight to ask for your opinion?"
With a cold laugh, Finn Grant hit a button on the remote on the table, causing the door behind to slam shut and the curtains in the hall to slowly close towards the center.
Seeing she couldn’t leave, Anna Thornton had no choice but to sit back down.
"I thought such a big shot like you would have decent manners. Are you switching from proposal to forcing marriage now?" Anna Thornton discontentedly questioned him.
"There’s nothing I want that I can’t get!" Finn Grant, reminiscent of a spoiled brat, clearly wasn’t planning to reason, "Since you’re so good with words, it seems I don’t need to worry about how you’ll establish yourself in the Grant family; let’s move straight into the childbearing stage."
Seeing him draw nearer, Anna Thornton instinctively retreated: "No need... Young Master Grant, there’s really no need for this! There are plenty of won you could have. Don’t force yourself into criminal acts!"
"I rarely want a woman!" Finn Grant said while untying his necktie.
"But why ?"
"Among the won my father arranged for to et, there were so fairly acceptable ones. But none dared co this far at nights like tonight."
Damn, so Anna Thornton had made a mistake coming tonight?
If Finn Grant hadn’t already found out about Pop’s hospital, Anna wouldn’t have co even if her life depended on it.
The reason she made a different choice from those wealthy daughters is because they didn’t have kids or concerns, but she did!
Isn’t this just bullying?
While Anna Thornton was feeling indignant, Finn Grant had already pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist, "Everyone else is afraid of ; I want you not to be."
"Wait... hold on! Let go of first!"
Anna Thornton tried to break free, and in desperation, she swung her high heel in hand, striking Finn Grant on the head.
The hit was likely heavy, as even Anna Thornton heard a clear ’crack’.
After all, her high heels were pointed and had a stiff sole.
Looking up, she saw Finn Grant’s eyes reddening visibly fast, his grip on her tightening by at least tenfold, veins bulging on his temples and neck, clearly enraged.
"Damn it, you think this will make not scared... ugh..."
Before she could finish, Finn Grant grasped her neck with his other hand, cutting her off.
The woman’s slender white neck was tightly gripped in the man’s palm, vulnerable like a tender shoot, needing just a bit more force to snap.
