Nyx’s eyes lit up, they were eventually coming back to the palace.
She faced Oberon, "Look, they are finally retuning," her face bead.
Oberon gave them a hearty smile, "Welco back," he gave them a slight bow.
They all ca into the palace fully, Nyx shaking hands with a few of them, giving so a pat on the back.
"Your majesty, it is good to be back," the head of the guards, walked up to him, and bowed.
Oberon held his shoulders, "It is good to see you," he patted his shoulders.
He raised his head, and looked at the rest of them, "You all can go in, and rest in your quarters. We will wait for the rest to return before we can do anything. Welco back," he smiled softly at them.
They all bowed once again, before dispersing to their quarters.
Nyx felt proud, "Finally, they are back to where they belong."
Oberon nodded, "All thanks to you, hm."
She shrugged, "That is true," she bit her lips, and chuckled.
"Let us wait for the rest of them to return, I hope they have an easy ti finding their way here," he blinked.
"Do not worry so much," she sat down again, "The journey will not be tough for them. The moon goddess is watching over them."
***
The palace was slowly filling with wolves, as they all thought it best to visit the palace first before any other thing else.
Nyx would lead them to a large room where they all sat on the ground, awaiting the rest of their mates who were still on the way.
She did all she could to relieve them, so she gave them water to quench their thirst, and organized so of the cooks among them, so she could prepare a feast for them.
Risa watched them from a corner of the palace. She felt she was going to be in trouble, as she knew very well what Oberon would do to her.
She sighed, there was no way she could run. She didn’t want to run away. There was only one option, Nyx.
She made her way to the kitchen, trying as much as possible to avoid the rest of the pack. She would hide in a corner if any of them passed her way, and wait till they were gone before coming out.
"This is going to be tough, what if she does not listen to ?" Her heart throbbed.
She got to the kitchen door, and halted. The cooks were rushing in, and out, while so of the maids who had volunteered to help, kept moving back and forth in the kitchen.
Nyx was the one who controlled the affairs of the kitchen in that mont. She gave the orders on how things should be done, and she was doing it quite well.
Risa took in a deep breath, and walked into the kitchen to et Nyx.
"Nyx?" She called softly.
Nyx stopped what she was doing, and looked at her, "Hm?"
"I would like to talk to you about sothing," she dropped her gaze, playing with her fingers.
Nyx wiped her hands with a cloth, faced the head cook, and said, "I will be back soon. Take care of the kitchen while I am away, I will be back soon."
"Yes my lady."
"Let us go outside then," she made for the door, while Risa followed her.
"What is the matter?" Nyx asked once they got outside.
"I.. just wanted to.." Risa gulped, her hands sweaty, and cold.
"Yes?"
"I am sorry," she inhaled sharply.
Nyx raised her eyes, "What?"
"I am sorry Nyx," she said again, much more softer.
Nyx shook her head, dazed, "You are sorry?"
She nodded, "Yes, I am sorry. I.. have.. been a very..." She chocked on her words, and hot tears stread down her face.
Nyx was stunned seeing Risa that way. For the first ti since she could rember, that was the only ti she had seen Risa in tears.
"You are.. crying?" Nyx blinked in surprise.
"I have been such a horrible sister to you Nyx, I am such a terrible person. I should have been there even when our parents hated you."
Nyx squinted her eyes in suspicion, "Hm, why are you suddenly in tears?"
Risa pald her face, "I do not bla you though, I was just too horrible," she fell on her knees, and began to sob.
Nyx watched her for a mont, quietly taking all that in.
She sighed, and held her shoulders, "Wait.. stop crying."
Risa stopped, and looked at her, "What?" She sniffed.
"Stop crying," she ruffled her hair, "Get up."
"Does that an.."
"Get up."
Risa got to her feet, and sniffed, "Okay."
She led her to a chair, and they both sat down.
"First of all, what do you want?" Nyx asked, still in doubt.
Risa sniffled, "I just ca to ask for your forgiveness. I know I have been the worst sister ever to you, and I have done terrible things to you in the past. I just want you to forgive ."
"Hm, well, I.." Nyx exhaled deeply, "You have been terrible though, that is a fact," she tapped her lap lightly, "But, I could only bla our parents. They made seem as a bad sibling to you," she straightened her face.
"But why? What exactly did you do to them?"
"Well, they considered bad luck, you see, you were never born after . Mother had birthed other pups, but they never survived."
Risa’s eyes widened, "What?"
"I was born with a twin," she glanced at Risa with a sad smile, "But he passed away."
Risa gasped, "A male pup?"
She nodded, "At first, they did not see it to be so serious though, till mother was pregnant again, and birthed another pup which was also a male."
"Father and I were so happy, and we had gone into the room to see the pup, and mother, but.."
"But what?"
"As soon as I entered the room, the pup stopped breathing, and he died."
Risa drew her head backwards, "Wait what? How is that possible?"
Nyx laughed bitterly, "Since then, I was called bad luck itself. Mother tried birthing other male pups after that incident, but they never survived."
"So they took it out on you?"
She nodded, "Yes. That is the reason. So they must have filled your mind with a lot of bad things about ," she chuckled, "So, it is not your fault though.. to an extent."
Risa hung her head, "They had called you a monster, and a rogue, and always said I should stay away from you," she looked at the sky, "I never asked why."
Nyx kept quiet.
Risa turned to face her, "So do you forgive ?"
