From the door that led into the restroom within the restaurant, Herla walked out, a big smile on her face. Patro had brought her to this fancy restaurant so they could have dinner. She wasn’t sure why, but it made her happy nonetheless.

She was having things Eve never got to have with this man.

The smile on her face enlarged and she bounced off towards Patro, coming to a stop at the way he stood as still as a statue.

What was wrong with him?

She followed his line of sight and the very second her gaze dropped on Malakai who had Eve against him, kissing her like he couldn’t get enough, her smile slowly faded.

Suddenly, her throat felt dry as if she hadn’t had water in days and she looked back at Patro. The look on his face was chilling, eerie in its form. The aura surrounding him was more than just murderous.

Why? It wasn’t like he cared about Eve. Why was he so bothered to see what was unfolding before them?

Malakai’s hand dropped to Eve’s neck where he proceeded to rub against the mating mark that had almost fully faded. He pulled back from the kiss and Eve slowly peeled her eyes open, chest rising and falling with rapid breathing.

Her entire face to her ears was a tint of red that she couldn’t hide. She couldn’t look Malakai in the eyes, her gaze darting to the floor.

"Shall we?" Malakai hunched a bit to look at her face, lips painted with a smile.

She batted her lashes at him and frantically nodded.

The man grabbed her hand and they turned to begin walking towards Patro who stood peering at the both of them.

He wasn’t saying a word, whatever he was feeling wasn’t evident on his face, but in his eyes, it was more than clear. The rage—the anger, the murderous intent, oh, Malakai could see every bit of them.

But Patro needed to understand...Eve no longer belonged to him.

"I think I recall telling you to co alone."

"Yes." Eve nodded, and her eyes briefly crossed to Herla who held onto Patro like anyone was going to snatch him from her. "But I’m sure you knew I wouldn’t co alone. I an...I’m married. It would be weird to co out and see a man, you know. Besides, I don’t think my husband would allow it."

"Would you?" She peeked up at Malakai.

"Of course not, doll," Malakai humd, his eyes smiling along with his lips. He glanced at Patro, saying, "I’m sure you understand."

Patro’s left eye twitched and so did his jaw, but he bead. "I do understand. However, whatever conversation I need to have with Eve, must be done alone."

"Why is that?" Malakai cocked a brow.

Patro glared. "It’s none of your fucking business. This is between and Eve." He snapped towards Eve, "Don’t fucking play with , Eve. You think I’m not going to hurt your father?"

"Patro—"

"I’m going to let the fact that you ca here accompanied, slide. But whatever conversation you and I are going to have, it will be done alone."

Eve narrowed her eyes on him. "Does that an she will be absent as well?"

Patro glanced at Herla who held his hand and snatched his hand from her. "Leave. I’ll see you later."

Herla peered at him like he’d grown two heads. "Patro, I thought we ca here to—"

"Now! Don’t make repeat myself twice," he warned, pissed off.

She wasn’t willing to leave, but she had to. All this was Eve’s fault. She’d co here excited to have dinner with the man she was in love with—the man she’d always wanted, only to be humiliated.

Her furious gaze locked with Eve’s for a mont and she stord off, hands balled into fists.

Eve turned to Malakai. "You’ll wait for ?"

"Mhmm." Malakai tucked her hair behind her ears and fixed her glasses properly before he leaned down to press a kiss to her ear. "Call imdiately if anything goes wrong."

Eve gripped onto the hem of his suit for a few seconds before letting go. She breathed out and watched him go, then turned to face Patro with her head held high.

"I must say I’m surprised," Patro said, amusent on his face.

"And what exactly have you surprised?" she asked as she sat down opposite him, her legs crossed.

Patro snapped his fingers for the waiter.

"How you already have him wrapped around your finger. You truly are impressive sotis," he mocked. "Tell , how miserable are you? I an, surely Malakai wouldn’t reduce his standards to you."

Eve watched him observantly.

Instead of responding, she stood up from her seat and leaned over the table, grasping him by the chin. "Take a look at , Patro, do I look miserable?"

"Excuse ?" A stunned look spread across his face and his eyes broadened a bit with his brows arching. "You little—"

"Get to the point of our eting and shut up about , else I might end up assuming you’re the one who’s miserable," she said, tone as cold as it could get.

But then a polite smile erged on her face and she sat back down in her chair. "Shall we?"

Patro peered at her and suddenly let out a short laugh, more than just taken aback.

"Malakai sure is a bad influence. Look at you, all this confidence, all this braveness...you think he can always protect you?"

Eve didn’t respond to his words and that pissed him further off because he slamd his hand on the table.

"I should have had you killed from the start. But don’t worry, I don’t regret not doing it. It makes this all the more fun. Let get to the point."

He began, "You don’t want to kill your father, do you?"

"No," she replied.

"Then I won’t." He shrugged. "But I’m going to need you to do sothing for in return."

She cocked a brow at him. "Which is?"
