[I can frighten her to keep silent]

"No! Stay put and don’t ruin our plans."

[Eve]

"The most important thing right now is our pla—"

"Who the hell are you talking to?" Herla stared at Eve like she’d lost my mind. "Have you finally gone nuts or sothing?"

Eve knocked her grip off her jaw and pushed her back. "Don’t get in my space again, Herla. You and I are done and you...you are dead to . Patro is yours, have him, he’s all yours. Just leave alone and back off!"

Herla grabbed her arm before she could step out of the open elevator. "What? Because you think you have soone better than Patro? Malakai Basti?"

She scoffed, "Well, it doesn’t even look like he’s treating you so well." She chuckled, mocking her with her eyes. "Patro treats well. Gives the things he would never give you. Do you know what he’s planning for my upcoming birthday? Oh wait, I’m so sorry. I forgot you complained to a lot of tis that he never even rembers the date of your birthday."

Bile rose in Eve’s throat and there was an urge to grab her throat, to strangle her, urges which weren’t hers but Malakai’s. She didn’t, instead, she slapped her hand off, sparing her one last look before storming out of the elevator.

[You disappoint , Eve]

"Oh sorry, I didn’t know you set up a test for , Mr. Basti," Eve muttered.

As her eyes glanced around the lit hall where people were already settled for the auction, her gaze landed on Patro, who, of course, was settled in one of the VIP seats. "If you don’t calm down, you’re going to ruin this entire thing for us."

[No, I won’t. You could be rid of an annoyance like her]

She rolled her eyes. "Do you just hurt anyone that annoys you?"

[I’m not that irrational. And I certainly don’t hurt ogas. Ever. Only weak alphas do. But you...you’re an oga like her. Why let her step on you?]

"I’m not a pushover."

[Eh] He didn’t sound convinced. [She’s baiting you to do sothing stupid so she can destroy you more than Patro already has. Patro’s ex-wife/mate pissed off with his new woman]

"You know that, and yet you want to fall for the bait." Eve began heading off to one of the empty VIP seats which Malakai had made a paynt for.

[I’m not asking you to hurt her or anything possibly worse. But you could intimidate her, there are so many ways to do that. Make her back off. She’s not your enemy here, the real enemy is Patro and this woman is getting in your way]

"Fine. Tell how."

[Oh common now, Eve] he chuckled. [When you figured out she was fucking Patro, you wanted revenge. You felt betrayed, and I know that in that mont, you had to find sothing that you could use to equally hurt her for doing that to you]

Eve’s eyes flickered rapidly and she cleared her throat. "That’s not true. I never...did anything."

[Exactly, you didn’t do anything because you were skeptical considering she was your best friend. But you didn’t bury what you have on her, and I know it’s sothing that could possibly ruin her like Patro has done you. You’re keeping it for a reason]

Eve breathed out. "Malakai, she hurt , yes, but I wouldn’t do that—"

[Uh, uh, you’re lying to yourself. As I said, you are keeping whatever you have on her for a reason. She’s your ex-best friend, if anyone knows the sort of woman she is, it’s you. She’ll push that particular button that will set you off, and then you...you’ll strike back]

Her brows pulled together in a frown and she adjusted the arm of her dress.

"I didn’t know you knew so well."

[No. I can read people, even if I’m not as smart as you]

"Great." Eve pulled up a smile, turning to face the stage where the host had stepped aside and won were walking in right through the black curtain, rolling a trolley with boxes that contained what would be auctioned.

The first product was a jewellery, a diamond necklace.

"Starting at the price of five hundred thousand Weils. A half a million," the host announced.

One of the audience raised her bid card. The wife of the head of the Morin family, Nyra Morin. "Six hundred thousand Weils."

"I have six hundred thousand Weils from bidder no.3. Do I hear six hundred thousand?" the host scread into the mic.

"One million!"

"Oh wow! One million!!" the host yelled into the mic, excitent exuding from him.

"One point two million!"

"One point five million!"

"Ten million!"

"Ten point five million!"

"Seventeen million!" This ti around, the entire hall went silent, all heads turning towards him, Patro Zolotov. He held a cocky expression as if he knew no one would be able to bid higher than that.

"Seventeen...million!" the host spoke.

[Aren’t you going to bid?]

"Huh?" Eve was confused at Malakai’s words. "Why? We didn’t co here for that?"

[Who said so? You’re the wife of Malakai Basti and you’re going to sit and do nothing? Eve, bid. Now!"

"Okay, okay!" It’s not my money.

[I can hear your thoughts, you know]

She rolled my eyes at his words and lifted her bid card. "Eighteen million."

"Eighteen million!" the host hollered. "Do I see eighteen million? Yes, eighteen million from bidder no. 1."

All eyes turned on her and she physically wanted to bury herself from all the attention.

[Don’t you think that was a little too low?]

"What do you an?" she whispered to him, confused.

[Eve, your offer will make people think I’m broke]

"You’re out of your mind."

[Go higher. Twenty million]

"Malakai, it’s just a three-in-one jewelry. Twenty million, that’s too—"

[Eve]

"Fine! In that case, I won’t hold back."

"Twenty-five million," Patro announced, scoffing.

Fuck you. She glared at him, announcing right after him, "Fifty million!" That alone earned a shocked gasps from both the audience and the host.

[There we go. Good girl. In every place you walk into, they need to rember that you are now Eve Basti]

"F-fifty million!! Incredible!" the host scread out of his lungs. "Fifty million Weils from bidder no.1! Going once...going twice... Sold to number 1 for fifty million Weils! Congratulations!"

Eve blinked rapidly, staring into nothing. Did this man just allow her to bid fifty million for diamond jewelry? "Malakai... You’re insane."

"Have you NEVER spent money before?"

"Not this much, obviously. You spent fifty on jewelry. Jewelry! That’s...crazy?"

She assud he cringed at her words because he groaned. And then a short laugh tinted his tone. [Are you calling irresponsible?]
