NYLAH

I was cumbered with the need to get answers to Xavier’s words and Rex’s but it was as though they both knew their words would leave more confused than lectured, they disappeared from my sight.

I even opted to have dinner at the dining hall to push my luck and see if any of the brothers would walk past or join at the table but on three occasions, I was disappointed.

After trying several tis to ask the staff about Xavier’s whereabouts or Rex’s I gave up. Their response was either a look of surprise or indifference and the ones who managed to answer would often tell to go back to my room or not bother about their whereabouts.

"Your well-being is what you should be worried about, not the boss or his brother." The maid who usually attended to answered one of the days as she arranged my closet.

I nodded absently, thinking about why I should be more worried about my well-being.

"What happened to the other girls he brought here?" I asked, referring to Xavier. Rex had also ntioned that Xavier had other play things but they didn’t last long.

"It’s not in my place to say," she replied, shaking her head as she picked up the dirty clothes from the ground.

"Then who would tell what’s going on?" I asked with the ergency in my voice

"All everyone says is that there were others before and they didn’t end up well, and I shouldn’t do anything to get on Xavier’s nerves but no one is really saying anything!" I was screaming before I could realize.

There were so seconds of silence before she finally broke it with a softer tone.

"I got into this job mid-last year and there have been five ladies he’s brought in here, kept locked up as he did you and it was a pattern of seeing them for a month or a couple of days, and the one who got lucky, Ana, did up to three months before she disappeared into thin air." She paused for a deep breath.

"No one knows where they are and no one can ask because of who he is. You understand that this is too much information and it will implicate , I don’t want to lose my job and certainly don’t want to lose my head." She stood up, picked up the basket of clothes from my room and left after she got a reassuring nod from .

At least I was left with a na, I could begin research from there.

However, being indoors all day didn’t help with the intrusive thoughts of trying to find out what happened or what would happen to .

Xavier hadn’t been within sight for a solid week and neither has Rex. And I was beginning to wonder if we still had a contract on.

It was as though he heard my thoughts from afar, the next morning, I was awoken by a knock on the door.

"The boss wants you to be moved to the pack house by noon. You have fifteen minutes to get ready." The guard announced without looking at my face or greeting .

I stood there, looking at him like he’d grown horns as he walked away, unbothered by how I took the news.

My initial thought was to stall, hang around so more and be stubborn whenever the guards asked to do anything but then I rembered the contract I’d signed and thought it better to obey.

I was his now anyway.

And on the brighter side, staying in the pack might help find so answers and I’m going to see so new faces and maybe be sothing close to a friend with so of them.

’Yes, it might not be a totally bad idea’ A smile crossed my face at the thought and I got to pack my bags.

Who knew? Xavier might be at the pack as well; my maid told that the mansion was just a place where Xavier ca whenever he wanted to get away so it was a possibility I’d et him at the pack.

And I might be able to discuss my contract with him, see if he’s changed his mind about owning and if he’d like to let off.

I felt rather ecstatic at the thought but I had to wait until I got to the pack.

The drive to the pack got feeling all kinds of ways; happy, free, anxious, scared and hopeful. I was aware of all the possibilities of outco and it made scared.

Going to the most known, most vicious pack in the city, I knew it wasn’t just going to be all fun. There were downsides too.

"We’re here." The driver announced after bringing the truck to a stop in the middle of a large expanse of land fenced round with buildings.

The land could be used for a variety of things, a pack assembly, a transition ground for young wolves during the full moon, or even for various festive activities.

I stepped out of the car, my gaze fixated on the large, luxurious-looking buildings surrounding the land. Truly, the words said about the pack were no jokes. Its buildings were the most organized and expensive looking than I’ve seen.

Maybe it was the gold fra used for every window and door, maybe it was the sparking white paint used for the walls of all the buildings or the beautiful flowers placed in front of every door, it looked surreal and I hoped, for the love of the goddess that the pack mbers would be as pure as their buildings.

"This is Sofia, she’ll be the one in charge of showing you around until you settle in. You should respect her, she’s your superior." The guard who dropped my bags inford before hopping back into the truck and disappearing with the truck in no ti I was left alone with Sofia who stared at like I was sothing she’d reject if she was served.

"Losing focus on your first day is not sothing you’d want to do, trust ." Her words made turn my gaze to her.

I was looking for Alpha Xavier, sohow, a part of was hoping that he’d be here to... welco or at least confirm that I was delivered in one piece and that part of was disappointed when I caught no sight of him.

"What’s your na?" She asked again, this ti around cutting from my thoughts.

"Nylah. Where’s the Alpha?" I replied and asked in one breath and it seed like my question made her laugh.

"What? You’re really funny." She laughed covering her mouth with a palm.

Then with a serious face, she began.

"I heard you’re the Alpha’s new plaything. Well, don’t get too excited that he brought you here. He’s getting married to the Red Moon Pack’s heir."
