ZINA

"I assu that you are here to accompany the Alpha King to greet our honoured guests," Marcus continued, his eyes glinting with mischief. "That is fine and good as his majesty is already on his way to do the sa."

Zina smiled tightly, knowing very well that Marcus must possess the knowledge that the last thing she would ever want to do was welco the WolfKnights. She turned to leave, but the man with dark brown hair and unnerving golden brown eyes wasn’t done with her yet.

"How could I possibly allow the Theta to go back all by herself? Since you’re here, I shall have to escort you to welco the WolfKnights instead."

"The Theta has other things to attend to," Seraph cut in harsher than Zina had ever heard the maidservant before she could utter a response to the man. Marcus in turn shot Seraph a scathing look like she was sothing he could easily squash under his feet if he wished to.

To Zina’s surprise, Seraph didn’t back down under the man’s penetrating glare. If anything, the petite girl drew up to the fullest height she could muster as she equally glared back at Beta of one of the most prominent packs in Vraga.

"Theta, please..." Marcus said in a voice as cold as the freezing NorthWestern seas as he gestured with his hand that he would be leading the way. Of course he was not going to relent until Zina was embroiled in a sha so deep that she could taste it on her lips.

"You’re annoyingly interested in my whereabouts." Zina gritted the words, glaring at the man. She might pretend to understand Yaren’s hate for her, but Marcus’ sudden unwelco interest in her affairs was without reason.

"I only wish to make things easy for you," The man drawled shalessly as his personal guards appeared from nowhere, their non aggressive stance managing to convey that they intend to lead Zina by force if need be. "The WolfKnights are already waiting at the castle’s gate, don’t you wish to make your presence known as the Alpha King’s Theta and mate?"

The way he said those last words spooked Zina. It almost implied that Zina had to be on guard against sothing.

Wordlessly, she followed Marcus while glaring daggers at the back of his head. If looks could kill, then Marcus head would have long exploded just from the intensity of Zina’s heated glare alone.

They traversed the castle until they reached the castle’s grounds. Thus began the short, yet long, dreadful walk to the castle’s gate. Throughout it all, Zina thought really hard.

While she and Daemon seed to have lay aside so of their grievances, they hadn’t really talked much about a lot of things. Zina hadn’t asked because she wanted to respect Daemon in his capacity as Alpha King. She also wanted to accord so respect to her position as Theta, and that included not overstepping her bounds.

But now, she wasn’t so sure anymore if that was what she wanted. Because try as she may, thinking of what reasons the WolfKnights could possibly be here for only strived to drive her mad.

She was chewing on her nails at so point when they arrived at the castle’s gates. True to what Marcus had said, Daemon was indeed there in the company of Yaren and so other people that flanked him whom Zina was yet to know about. And before them were mbers of the WolfKnight Pack led by none other than Modrich.

All eyes turned to Zina and her companions, and going by the little flare of surprise in Daemon’s eyes, it would seem as though he knew nothing of the reason why Zina ca to be there. Of course Marcus had been acting alone!

Zina glared at the offending man once again, whilst he shrugged lazily, grinning back at her as if to say, ’what will you do about it, Theta.’

Zina took her place sowhere by Daemon’s left and she tried her possible best to look everywhere but at the sight of Modrich and the Red Sisters that flanked him.

Even though Zina had never seen the man before, it was easy to spot him for he was everything she had imagined she would look like... and then less.

Face set into a shrewd smirk like he had knowledge of the whole world when in reality he knew nothing. His body toned alright, and yet, a good body had never looked as unattractive as it did on him. He was smiling like the world was underneath him and Zina knew that because her side eye was giving him the glare and conveying all the hatred she had for him.

"My sister is here!" His nauseating voice announced, and Zina felt all eyes turn to her. She didn’t even attempt to ball her fists to contain her anger, instead her glare cut at him fiercely.

How dare the rat call her a sister?!

The idiot actually stepped forward to give Zina a hug, and luckily for him, he didn’t make it far when Yaren’s hands darted out to stop the man from his unceremonious approach.

"Conduct yourself properly, Alpha Modrich." He growled, eyes holding contempt that almost rivals the kind he had for Zina.

Ah! At least it would seem as though she and Yaren finally had sothing in common which was their undisguised hatred for the WolfKnight Alpha. It took them long enough to find common grounds.

Zina had heard the tales of how Modrich refused to lend a hand in the war against the Arising Rogues. How he had taken a back seat while watching people die despite the prominence that his pack had reached.

Modrich was undeterred by Yaren’s gesture. He grinned like he had been flicked off from having a taste of a forbidden apple. anwhile, for all of Yaren’s reaction, Daemon surprisingly had none to offer and Zina wondered why.

They must have been discussing sothing before they arrived so Zina wondered what it could have been as well.

Before her thoughts could run off the mill, a woman clad in red leather much like a red sister whom Zina hadn’t bothered to look over twice for she was avoiding looking at Modrich spoke in a harsh tone.

"Alpha King Daemon, I must repeat again. The Scarlet Mother demands that Fionna returns back to us on the account that she has broken the rules of the order."

Zina turned her glare from Modrich and rested it on the aggressive woman who knew nothing of manners and decorum.

Enunciating every word as she glowered at the woman, she asked sarcastically. "And is that how you speak to the Alpha King that rules the North?"

Once again, her biting response turned all eyes and attention on her.
