DAEMON

Marcus rely raised an eyebrow at the sight of the woman. Daemon was yet to hear his cousin say anything about Zina and that fact was suspicious enough on its own for Marcus was usually even more interested in his personal affairs than Yaren ever was.

"My sister-in-law is here," The man comnted darkly while Daemon rolled his eyes internally. "What can I help you with, sister-in-law?" Marcus continued, his question holding a dark promise at the end.

Much to Daemon’s amusent, Zina’s only response was shooting Marcus a scathing dark look... sothing no one ever did. For while Marcus might tease and look like the very picture of a laid back man, there was always a darkness that shrouded him that tended to keep other people away from him.

The darkness was sewn shut in his eyes and it was apparent on every crevice of his body and every move he purported to make.

Marcus frowned, his expression turning darker if that were possible. But that didn’t deter Zina whose feelings were all over the place, especially the woman’s anger and hurt.

"I would have to ask you to excuse us." She said to Marcus, as she returned his dark expression with a glare of her own.

"And if I don’t excuse you, then what would you do?" Marcus challenged, a smug smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.

Zina simply turned her furious expression on Daemon as if that answered the other man’s question. It seed as though a battle was raging within her eyes for she tried and pathetically failed to say anything.

She opened her mouth, and then closed it as if not knowing how and where to start from. It only made Daemon curious of what was her purpose for her less than coly appearance at his office. Surely, she was not here to continue her argunt that he mustn’t go to war with the White Monk? If that were the case, Daemon feared he would really throw her out this ti around.

Finally, she spoke in a voice that was equal parts placating and ridiculously angry.

"Your majesty," she gritted, panting slightly hard like she had just run a very tiring marathon, "the laws of the royal family mandate that it is right for a successor to take charge of the brother’s family. Surely, you intend to adopt Suri, your niece and the child of the forr Alpha King."

Daemon’s countenance turned drab the mont the words rolled off her lips. The scroll he was internally reading suddenly felt more interesting than the tiring conversation he was about to have with the stubborn woman. And yet, sothing in her eyes told him that she wasn’t entirely here because of Suri.

"How very magnanimous of the Theta to care for another who isn’t her blood however I must have you know that the issue is one at my discretion. I shall not take any advice from you on how to constitute my family."

Zines laughed like she found him utterly ridiculous while Daemon stared at her, truly concerned for the state of her ntal well-being.

Was she well? Damnit, what had happened? She didn’t look fine and it was not helping matters that she only sought to annoy him rather than to actually speak of what actually bothered her.

The matter about Suri was one that he had seriously considered. Considering his own problematic childhood coupled with the fact that he had full knowledge the kind of woman Bella BloodMoon was, he wasn’t entirely confident in leaving custody of the child with the woman.

However his own personal concerns in the matter were in conflict with his own political concerns so the matter was one he had to kick to the curb... at least for now.

Alpha BloodMoon would love nothing more than to exploit Daemon using the current situation, and Daemon would first go to hell before he allowed the greedy man to lay his claws on him.

He had his own plans for Suri, plans he wasn’t exactly eager to share with anyone. And not even Zina for the matter.

When Zina didn’t speak anymore but rather glared at him like he was the cause of world poverty and hunger in the whole of Vraga, Daemon attempted to be the decent man that never really was as he probed.

"Why have you truly co here?" He asked.

"What? Your cousin here refers to as his sister-in-law yet you ask why your mate cos to see you? I am hurt." She said in a voice that dripped with all the sarcasm in the world.

Daemon pushed back all the emotions that reared up when he first saw Zina’s face while he resud perusing through the Map Table. He needed to find the best entrance through the NorthWestern borders in order to wage war on the White Monks. And once he found the entry point, regardless of Zina’s objections, he would be waging the war nonetheless.

"It seems to you’re here to throw a tantrum," Marcus drawled, coming to the sa conclusion as Daemon had, "as you can see, we are busy, sister-in-law."

Zina scoffed as if she couldn’t quite believe her ears. Her face was a beet tomato red and Daemon was quite unsure if it were from her anger, or from the re proximity of staying in the sa room that summoned lightning itself.

He was curious to know what was running in her little head, he wanted to know every one of her thoughts until he was able to squash his obsession for her. It didn’t help that the spy he had set on her trail was yet to report for that day, if not, he would have known what it was that ran through her mind. But no matter how curious he was, he was forced to act the very opposite.

"You’re dismissed Theta. And next ti you burst into my office like this you will find yourself imprisoned ten feet below the ground and not even your Temple will be able to save you then."
