ZINA

After eting Fionna, Zina was lended an extra layer of strength that had been missing within her ever since she started her journey to the GreenLands.

She didn’t wait for her Heat to start before she retired to her room in the Arctic Castle. She dismissed Ablanch, while Seraph sneaked out of the castle to et with the Thralgor Spy Guild.

It was not a good ti to et the Spy Guild, but a sense of urgency had taken over Zina who simply couldn’t stop thinking about Xoli and everything that happened before him....

...things seemingly normal but strange that she ignored.

Zina stripped out of her very wet dress while the castle maid servants brought her water for her bathing. She wore a robe against her naked body, her wild mane of her spilling about her as she sat on her table. Soon, she would probably beco blind again. But it didn’t stop her from scribbling her suspicions and her questions on a brown piece of parchnt.

"How much hot water will you be needing, Theta?" One of the castle’s head maidservants inquired Zina just as she was scribbling her fifteenth suspicions/questions.

"I must advise against using too much. You’re in your heat, and cold water is always the best."

Zina stopped mid scribble, raising her eyes to the woman standing before her. Defiance shined in her eyes as she said. "I want my bath to be almost boiling hot."

Daemon could drown in the hot water for all she cared. She would not be subjecting herself to the torture of ice cold water simply to avert the goddess bless fate that now seed like a horror story in her life.

The head maidservant looked hesitant. She had probably heard about Daemon’s swift punishnt whenever the iron of defilent fell, but Zina was not in a coly state. In fact, the more she scribbled down her suspicions, the more she wanted to defile the man.

Where was he by the way? Still tending to his bloodied maiden?

Zina smiled darkly, her grip on the exquisite pen tightening.

"The Alpha King might not like it if you..."

Zina’s furious eyes flew to the woman, interrupting her. "Do I look like I care about what your Alpha King likes?"

The word ’your’ rang between them like treason while the maidservant hurriedly apologised, leaving the room to do as she had originally requested.

The castle servants started pouring into the room, each one bearing a pail of steaming hot water. It took so rounds but they were finally done and Zina was glad of the reprieve from the noise.

She normally didn’t like being served in that manner. But that night, she was in need of a luxurious hot bath after having to stay under the rain while wracking her brains.

Before the head maidservant could leave, Zina forced the question she had been avoiding asking.

"Where is the Alpha King?" She asked, injecting all the nonchalance in the world into her voice.

The woman looked slightly startled. "Umm... I believe he has been at the infirmary Theta."

The tip of the pen in Zina’s grip broke, ink spilling against the parchnt she was writing on.

So much for her praising the pen to be exquisite when it wasn’t even built well in the first place.

Zina smiled a pointy smile. "Is that so? Well you can take your leave."

The maidservant bowed and left while Zina was a seething ss. So Daemon was tending to the bloodied woman? She couldn’t find it in her to pretend that it was the Heat that had all her emotions in a ss. Carefully folding the parchnt, she went to her bedside where her wooden staff laid.

Gripping the staff in her fingers, she swung it lightly, rembering the moves that Sybril taught her... moves that thoroughly failed her the night when Xalea Borne attacked her.

She swung the staff again, feeling the light cold breeze caressing her naked body underneath her flimsy robe. She took in a shaky breath, closing her eyes.

The darkness welcod her, and she found herself anticipating her incoming blindness that night. Truly, being blind was not a bad thing at all.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, her breath was unceremoniously knocked out of her as the first tresses of her heat that night slamd into her like the violent tides of the sea under the full moon.

Zina staggered from the force of it which rendered her heat last night as a joke. Desire and longing both ran through her as her body ca alive like the fireworks set off in the dead of the night.

Zina swung the staff again, this ti in the direction of the candle chandelier in the room and she heard the whoosh of the flas dying out as the forceful wind carried by the staff extinguished them. The light sll of the small smoke it created greeted her senses and Zina knew that darkness was now around her.

Still she didn’t open her eyes because she knew that the man she was waiting for was approaching her room. If not for the way her wolf was panting restlessly like it was on the edge of so very much needed relief, then the way goosebumps ghosted her skin was one evidence.

Zina had no desire to see him, or his eyes for the matter. So she tied a blindfold over her eyes despite the fact that true blindness would greet her soon for reasons she herself was yet to understand....

...reasons that are probably tied to her origins.

"She ordered hot water? Get buckets of ice." His gruff voice was ordering the servants just outside her room. And Zina lips curled in a challenging smile. Like hell she would allow him to torture her like he did the night before. Tonight, he would see first hand just how defiant she could be.

Tonight, he would understand how it ca to be that Zina survived Eldric’s tyranny for so long.

Her door opened, and annoyance flared in her that he wouldn’t even bother to knock. His steps approached, and then they stopped. He was probably staring at her as she stood in the middle of the room in so flimsy rope, while clutching her long staff in her hands...sa staff that once condemned him.

"What are you doing?" His gruff voice carried on, and there were tremors of anger beneath it. Zina found it hilarious because she too was angry.

"I’ve questions for you." Zina drawled, walking towards backwards until she was sure she had put a healthy amount of space between them.

He chucked. Dark. "You want to interrogate now? When you’re like this?"

"It’s just heat." Zina quipped sarcastically, "and I heard you don’t catch it so you will be just fine."

He took a step closer and Zina pointed her staff in the direction of the sound. "Not one step closer." She gritted, and he actually halted.

Was amusent or annoyance playing in his eyes at that mont? Zina decided after a brief thought that she didn’t want to know the answer to that.

"What is this about?" He asked with a bite of annoyance.

"I will be asking the questions, and believe I’ve a lot of them."

There was silence on his side, but Zina carried on. "Can you kindly tell why the Matriarchy attacked the rogue camp when you manipulated them into kidnapping ?"
