"I agree that he seems to like it. Maybe, Logan just feels that his wolf is truly a part of him," I added my own observation.
"Realizing that perhaps it is possible to live without pain and fear of the wolf inside us makes think that perhaps it isn’t so bad," the prince said before grinning my way.
"I hope that you are happier now," I stated my dearest wish.
"I’m definitely happy, and that is mainly thanks to you. Honestly, before I t you I hated everything about the wolf world and the fact that I was a part of it. However, since we’ve been together, I’ve been feeling extrely thankful for the wolf inside of us and our fate that brought us together. I an, I might have never t you otherwise," the prince said before he suddenly placed a kiss against my cheek. I stared at him with wide eyes because his sudden display of affection definitely caught off guard.
"Let’s get married, Mila," the prince proposed to again.
I wanted to respect the prince’s decision but that didn’t an that I didn’t harbor any fears of my own. Now that it occurred to that I would marry the prince and one day beco the queen of this country, I found myself doubting my own worthiness. I couldn’t help but think that my social standing and background could pose a problem and bring about trouble for the prince and the royal family at large.
"I want to marry you, but are you sure that there’s not going to be a problem?" I asked in a small voice.
"What kind of problem?" the prince asked, his brows drawing into a slight frown.
"Well, I used to be a maid, and my background...," I shared my concerns before trailing off with a hesitant look. I felt like there was no need for to go into the details for the prince to understand where my concerns lay.
"I can see why you might think that that could be a problem, but my father wouldn’t suggest sothing if he thought that it would be harmful to the royal family, not that I care," the prince replied quite casually.
"Even so..." I murmured hesitantly.
Even if the king isn’t bothered and believes that it is fine, I was so scared of what the people would think about my relationship with the prince. We had been so intent on raising Logan and spending ti together that we never really made our relationship public.
“We can’t keep the identity of Logan’s mother a secret forever. Logan is the prince of his kingdom and one day he might beco the future king," the prince reminded . It seed like the duties of being a princess of the kingdom were catching up to now that I could no longer use raising Logan as an excuse to stay away from them.
"Co with for a bit," the prince said as he stood up and offered his hand.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Just a walk," the prince replied with his hand still outstretched in my direction. I slipped my hand into his while I wondered where we were going.
"Don’t worry, we’re not going far and I’ll keep you indoors," the prince reassured as if he could read my mind.
Surprisingly, Prince Leonard led to one of his smaller studies which I thought was rarely used. When I gave him a questioning look, the prince nodded reassuringly before telling that there was sothing that he wanted to show . The room was small compared to the other rooms that the prince used frequently, but it wasn’t that small and had all the necessary furnishings. What caught my eye was a very tall bookshelf.
"What is it that you want to show ?" I asked as I began to feel slightly impatient.
"Do you rember the dream you told about? The one where you thought you saw your parents?" the prince asked.
"Yes, I rember very well. Actually, as I’ve told you before, ever since I saw that dream, I’ve been slowly regaining mories from my childhood and mories of my parents. It’s better than nothing, but the truth is a lot of it seems to be missing, and I only rember small random snippets from here and there," I confessed sadly. The prince nodded his head a couple of tis in understanding before reaching for an old-looking book from the top of the bookshelf.
"What is this?" I asked when he handed the book without any explanation.
"Take a look at what’s inside; I think it’s self-explanatory," Prince Leonard replied.
I wasn’t sure why it was the case, but I couldn’t help feeling very uneasy as I took the book from his hand. I slowly flipped through the pages to find old photographs of people that I did not recognize. Most of them were family portraits of people who seed wealthy. At first, nothing caught my attention apart from the fact that there were always children and girls present in the family portraits, which I thought was nothing out of the ordinary. I glanced over at the prince questioningly, but he just gestured for to keep on flipping through the pages.
I began flipping faster as my eyes scanned the photographs as if I would find a face that I would recognize. My hands ca to a stop when my eyes landed on two faces that looked very familiar. There were a couple of photos where the family was present, and I imdiately recognized those faces. My heart began racing in my chest as I kept on staring at the faces of my parents.
"Are these my parents?" I asked as I pointed to one of the photographs. The prince nodded his head hesitantly. Although I had no idea about the significance of the book, I couldn’t help but feel that I was about to uncover so dark secret that wasn’t exactly good news. My index finger slowly moved to point at a young girl’s face.
