I simply couldn’t believe my eyes and my hands instinctively moved to rub them as if it would change what I was seeing.

There were thick silvery chains weighing down both of my ankles, preventing from taking another step forward. The wolf that we saw before suddenly made its appearance as it walked out from the thick trees and approached us.

"What is this? What is going on?" I asked in a shaky voice as I turned to stare at the prince before my eyes ventured to et those of the wolf.

Prince Leonard was just as shocked as I was at the abrupt appearance of those chains. Nothing logical could have explained what was happening. It felt like we had stepped into a world of dark magic and that everything was being controlled by the wolf that we saw.

“Mila, are you okay?” The prince asked as his brows drew into a deep frown.

I was honestly more confused than scared with what was going on. Once again, I hated to feel that I was a burden to the prince and that he had to worry about .

Instead of lying that I was feeling fine, I told him that we needed to find a way to get rid of the chains around my ankles. The prince nodded in agreent before crouching down and began pulling at the chains. The sound of tal clinking against each other instinctively reminded of that day when I was bound by chains exactly like this during the underground auction where I was sold off.

A short mont of silence passed by before I suddenly heard a voice in my head.

“You too cannot proceed any further,’ a woman’s voice sounded directly in my mind.

Since there was no one else there beside the prince and myself, I figured out that the one who had spoken right into my mind had to be the wolf.

“I think those are my parents...:” I stated in a shaky voice as my eyes followed the path where the three people had headed.

Too much ti had passed by now and they were no longer insight. I felt tears well up in my eyes along with a sense of desperation and helplessness. I couldn’t rember the last ti I felt that desperate. It felt like I was watching everything that I had ever wanted slipping right through my fingers. Just when the truth was so close and within reach, I was about to lose it all once again. I wish I could have seen my father’s and my mother’s face closely and clearly. I wanted to talk to them and I wanted to experience and relive so of the mories that we shared during my childhood years.

“Please let us go. I really need to see them,” I begged as I felt tears stinging the back of my eyes.

My voice cracked with overwhelming emotions and I found it hard to breathe.

“If those two are really her parents, I don’t see why you’re keeping her away from them. She has the right to see her parents and the right to access all of her mories. I bet it was you all long who made her forget," the prince said accusingly and I could feel his anger through the coldness of his voice.

My eyes wandered from the prince to the wolf and then back again as my mind struggled to process what the prince had just said. If I didn’t hear him incorrectly, then the prince was saying that the wolf had sohow blocked my access to the mories of my childhood and those mories related to my parents. I had no idea how sothing like that was possible, but it would explain why I couldn’t rember any mories from my pass or anything about my parents.

“Is it true? Did that wolf really do this?” I asked as I felt a mix of sadness and anger.

My chest grew so tight and I was sure that I was on the verge of crying. It took all the effort that I had to keep it all in so that my emotions wouldn’t burst forth. I felt angry and frustrated all at the sa ti and I didn’t know how to process those emotions. What I did know was that the wolf seed to be the one to bla for every misfortune related to the loss of my mories that I had suffered over the years.

“Did you do this? Why did you do this to ?” I demanded to know in a cracked voice as my emotions rose up inside of .

I knew that the wolf could understand every single word that I said and that almost drove insane because she would not say anything in return.

“Tell ! Tell what is really going on! Why did you do this to ?” I yelled desperately I sought for answers.

“You two cannot proceed any further. If you wish to proceed, you must go alone,” the wolf’s voice spoke to inside of my mind.

“Only I can go?” I asked as I felt so hope blossoming in my chest.

I hated the idea of leaving the prince behind, especially when he had taken so far. However, when I thought about the fact that I might not get to see my parents ever again or regain any of my lost mories, I felt extrely scared. I knew without a doubt that I couldn’t let this opportunity just slip by through my fingers. My eyes returned to the prince’s face and I saw him smiling at a little before nodding his head to show his understanding and support.

“You should go, Mila. You don’t need to worry about . I’ll wait for you here for as long as it takes,” he said before showing another supportive smile.

It felt that I couldn’t thank him enough with words so all I could do was nod my head in return. That agreent between us seed to satisfy the wolf and just as suddenly as the chain had appeared, it slowly faded into thin air and my ankles and legs were free to move again.

Where did they go? There’s no more ti to lose!

My body moved based on instinct and I found myself sprinting forward into the dark forest.
