I said sothing that I wasn’t supposed to. His words and the cold look in his eyes made my entire body stiffen and my heart started racing in my chest. For a mont, I feared how the prince would react and what he would do next. I wanted to apologize to him properly, but he had just told off about apologizing.

He was right that I didn’t kill her...but...

While I wanted to jump out of my own skin to escape that stressful situation of not knowing what to do or how to react in front of the prince, Prince Leonard was the one who spoke up first.

“We’re going on that trip that I ntioned in three days,” he inford .

At that ti, the trip that he had invited on had totally evaded my mind. Although I was supposed to feel excited about the trip, I was overwheld with relief that the prince was still inviting on a trip with him after what I had just said.

“Ok...” I replied in a whisper as I couldn’t believe my luck.

“Good. My butler will let you know about the details when everything is settled,” he inford as his blue eyes stared into mine.

I nodded my head and tried my best to offer him a smile to show him that I understood. It seed like the prince had said all that he wanted, and I couldn’t find any reason to prolong his stay.

...

“I have no idea what you’re trying to achieve with all this ddling...” Leonard said as he stared with cold and passive eyes at the woman standing in front of him.

Duchess Flavia didn’t appear affected by the prince’s accusatory words in the very least. The beautiful smile that she had on her lips did not disappear. Instead of trying to deny what she had done the duchess seed to have another idea altogether.

“I don’t either. Isn’t that what makes it so fun?” Duchess Flavia replied before giggling.

“I appreciate it that you want to help teach Mila her dance lessons but please try to limit your interactions with her to just that,” Leonard warned her sternly.

“Isn’t it normal for a teacher and her student to chat during their lesson? I don’t see why you’re so worried,” the duchess replied before flashing the prince a bright and unfazed smile.

“I honestly have no idea what you’re thinking...” Leonard muttered before letting out a sigh.

Despite what he thought or wanted; he knew that there was no way that he could do much against Duchess Flavia without getting his father involved in the matter. Everything would beco even more complicated if the king got involved and he knew that better than anyone.

“I’m not surprised. You see, sotis I have no idea what I’m thinking either,” the duchess replied with another giggle.

Prince Leonard rolled his eyes upwards without bothering to hide his reaction as he wished that the duchess would start acting her age. If anyone ever thought that Florian wasn’t a decent prince, they had never t his mother. Not only did the duchess not live on the palace grounds, she also never took on any royal duties unless she was particularly fond of it.

“I’m going to allow you to keep on teaching Mila for now, but I can’t promise that this will continue if you try anything else again,” the prince said before letting out a sigh of resignation.

Although he had already started regretting his decision, he didn’t want to break the promise and agreent that he made with Mila. Afterall, she did muster up the courage to ask that of him and he had already agreed to it. It was too late to change his mind now despite how tempting the idea was to him.

“Thanks for the warning, I shall do my best, Your Highness,” the duchess said teasingly.

“How’s your son doing?” Leonard asked before he grinned at the duchess.

The prince’s sudden change in topic did not catch the duchess by surprise and she knew precisely why he was asking her about her son. Being a good and attentive mother wasn’t sothing that she had managed to achieve in her life, but she wasn’t particularly ashad of the choices that she had made either.

“I’m not sure. Shouldn’t you know better than I do?” she asked in return before she shrugged her shoulder in a very careless manner.

“You’re not even going to pretend that you know and care? How shaless can you get?” Leonard asked as his tone turned cold.

“Wasn’t that the answer that you wanted to hear? Wasn’t that why you asked about Florian?” she spat back before looking away and folding her arms over her chest defensively.

“Let’s leave it at that...” Leonard said while deciding to give in and let it slide.

He had no good reason to pick a fight with Duchess Flavia of all people. As long as she did not do anything to interfere with his plans or his life, he was fine with turning a blind eye to anything that she did.

“What about you? How are things working out for you and Mila?” the duchess asked with keen interest.

“We’re doing fine. Thank you for your concern,” Prince Leonard replied while sounding too polite.

His words and reaction drew a laugh out of the duchess, which she did not try to hold in. After laughing for a short while, she managed to compose herself again.

“Then I guess there is really nothing for to worry about. My dear king will be getting what he wants soon, isn’t that right?” the duchess asked with sparkling eyes.

“Not from ,” Leonard replied.

“Hmm...that won’t do...” the duchess said with a playful pout of her lips.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Florian becos the first of us to succeed and becos the next king,” Leonard said before smiling a little at the duchess.

“You must be kidding...” she muttered without hiding her displeasure and irritation.
