“Welco...” I managed to say after recovering from my initial shock.
Jessie and Salena continued smiling brightly at . I found myself smiling at them before inviting them into my room.
“I’ll never get used to how big this place is...” Jessie said with a wistful sigh.
“It really is too big,” I readily agreed after closing the door.
“Sorry for dropping by so suddenly but we did want to surprise you,” Salena said apologetically.
“It was an exciting kind of surprise. Don’t worry about it. Thank you for dropping by,” I said as I gestured for them to sit on the sofa.
The two girls hesitated a little as they turned to stare at each other. I couldn’t quite understand the silent ssage that was communicated between them.
“Is sothing wrong?” I asked.
“Umm...the thing is...” Salena murmured before looking at Jessie as if begging for her help.
Her reaction just made more curious about what was really going on. Now that I thought about it, were maids that didn’t work here allowed to just waltz into the Sacred Chambers without permission?
“The thing is, from today onwards, we’ll both be working as your personal maids!” Jessie announced proudly and very loudly.
What?
Really?!
“You two are going to be my maids?” I exclaid at this sudden news.
“Yup! That’s right!” Jessie readily confird.
Salena stood at her side and nodded her head a couple of tis. She looked excited and barely able to contain herself.
“Oh, wow! Yay! That’s aweso! This is great news!” I cried out in joy.
The two girls ca closer, and we embraced each other. I closed my eyes as I hugged them tightly. Suddenly, the boring and dark day that I had experienced started to feel a little brighter and more hopeful. Having the two of them here with might be what I needed to get through this.
“How did sothing like this happen?” I asked curiously.
“We’re not sure to be honest. We were just told that we’ll start serving you tomorrow and here we are to introduce ourselves to our new lady,” Jessie replied with a confused look on her face.
“It was very sudden but we’re happy to be here with you,” Salena said with a beautiful smile.
I had no idea how these two angels were delivered to , but I was thankful for whoever sent them to .
“When we heard that you were promoted to be a honorable maiden, we couldn’t believe just how lucky you got. First you were promoted to work for an honorable maiden and then you beca one yourself!” Jessie said as her eyes bead at .
“Umm...” I murmured without knowing what to say.
My path here wasn’t exactly lined with roses and I wouldn’t count myself as being lucky for being picked on by Lady Regina and forced to beco an honorable maiden because of so misunderstanding by the king. Of course, I didn’t want to explain that whole long story to these two.
“Thanks to you, we also got promoted. We’ll be living here now too, and we’ll serve you,” Salena chid in with a smile.
“Oh, I see...” I murmured in understanding.
“That’s right. We’ll live in the maid quarters here in the Sacred Chambers. We’ll be close by so let us know if you ever need anything,” Jessie said before winking at .
“Just having you two here with is more than enough. I don’t think I’ll ever need anything else,” I replied.
I noticed that we were still standing while having our conversation. It was strange to have my friends work as my personal maids. However, this might be a chance for to make their lives easier for them.
“Why don’t you take a seat and just chill for now?” I offered again as I flopped down onto the comfortable sofa.
“Umm...” Selena made a hesitant sound as she avoided eting my eyes.
“Mila, you’re our lady now and we’re supposed to serve you. No matter what, we’re just maids and maids can’t sit on their lady’s furniture,” Jessie reminded .
“Oh...” I mumbled sadly.
I knew that she was right. It was an inconvenience truth for all of us, but it was still the truth. With how sudden that everything had taken place, I wasn’t used to idea that I was no longer a maid but an honorable maiden instead and now I’m supposed to have maids working for .
“No one’s around right now...” I said before smiling at them.
Salena just shook her head at a little before she smiled almost regretfully. I pleaded with them with my eyes as I stared up at their faces.
“We’re still maids and we’re still your friends. It doesn’t matter where we sit,” Jessie said cheerfully.
I watched as she ca to sit on the floor right in front of the sofa and close to my feet. Salena quickly did the sa as they both smiled up at . Life hadn’t been kind to the three of us, but I hoped that one day we would find ourselves in a much better place and hopefully their dreams would co true.
“Well then, since this is my room, I can sit wherever I please, right?” I said as an idea suddenly popped up in my head.
I got up and sat myself down on the floor next to my two friends. The solution to this inconvenient problem was so simple that I couldn’t believe that it slipped my mind earlier. If they couldn’t sit on the sofa with , then I’ll just sit on the floor with them.
“You’re really too much...” Jessie muttered but the way she smiled at told that she was pleased.
“Thank you...for being my friend...” I told them honestly.

**The next day**
My first day of classes arrived suddenly to my surprise and ultimate excitent. After feeling useless for a couple of days without hearing from the prince, it seed like I could move on with my life even if it was just a little.
