Odessa’s POV

*****

After Celine had stepped out of Kaelos’ room with her mother, I stood up from the floor and went to have a bath.

As I did, my mind raced through all the humiliation I’ve faced since I stepped foot in this pack. I kept telling myself that it was nothing compared to what I faced back in the Luminari Coven... But in reality, it seed worse.

The people in the Luminari Coven looked down on because of my lack of magic... Not because I was a witch.

Yes, I’ve been beaten, gotten used by a few of the n in my coven, and received a ton of insults back at the Luminari Coven, but it was still my ho.

I still felt like I belonged. I still had so use.

At least, there wasn’t an assassination attempt made on back ho. When I rembered the fear I felt when I witnessed that magic arrow heading for last night, a cold shiver ran down my spine, forcing to turn off the shower.

"By the gods, I can’t do any of this shit again," I muttered, shaking my head before I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my body.

I stepped out of the bathroom, searching for my phone which I was certain I had brought with into this room last night.

Or at least... I think I brought it with . Gosh, my mind was still so hazy even though I didn’t drink any alcohol last night.

Suddenly, I heard my phone ringing, forcing to turn my head to the direction it was coming from.

And there lay my phone, sitting close to one of the pillows on the bed. I sighed to myself before I walked up to the phone to pick it up.

"Who could be calling after all this...?" I paused in what I was saying when I picked up the phone and saw the contact ID.

It was my Aunt Althea.

Gosh, I had totally forgotten to contact her since I got into this hell hole. But at the sa ti, could I really bla myself?

I grunted silently before I picked up the call. "H– Hey, Aunt Althea. I–"

"Young lady, you have a lot of explaining to do and I an a LOT." My aunt’s voice was loud and firm, causing to close my eyes with embarrassnt even though she wasn’t in the room with .

Back in the Luminari Coven, whenever the bullying from the other witches and humans got bad... She was the one I ran to. She has been the closest thing to a parent I’ve had since my parents died.

She even once took under her wing to personally teach magic until she realized that I was powerless.

Anyway, in conclusion, if there was anyone I was supposed to be reaching out to after coming to this hell hole of a pack, it’s her.

"Aunt Althea, I can explain," I mumbled, brushing my left hand through my hair as I paced around the room with the phone glued to my ear. "I’ve been stressed out since I got here. It’s been one drama to the other and just yesterday, I almost got killed. Not to ntion..."

I stopped myself from talking when I realized I was about to blurt out that I was mated to the Alpha King.

For starters, Kaelos had told not to tell a soul, which I found unfair but at the sa ti, I knew he had a point when it ca to why.

My Aunt was still my aunt at the end of the day and I was certain she wouldn’t be pleased to know my ’soul mate’ was not just any werewolf but THE king of the werewolves of this continent.

"Almost got killed?" Aunt Althea repeated with a gasp and I could almost imagine her clutching her pearls. "Dear gods, what happened? Is your life actively in danger? Do you want to co visit? I could arrange to–"

"Thank you, Aunt Althea, but I’ll be fine." I interrupted with a reassuring voice as I walked up to one of Kaelos’ windows. "I have sothing planned, and once it’s complete, I won’t have to worry myself about anything."

I wanted to be vague because I knew Althea would object to my plans if she knew what it was.

But alas, she was still as curious as ever.

"What do you an by that?" She queried, her voice tense like a mother scolding her child. "Odessa, don’t tell you’re planning to do anything rash. The Alpha King wouldn’t be pleased and you know what that ans, right?"

A shiver ran down my spine when she ntioned Kaelos.

I knew that what I had planned would have him pissed but at the sa ti, I felt like it would give both of us peace of mind and closure.

I’ll be out of his hair and he’ll effectively be out of mine.

"I know, aunt. I know." I said with a wry smile. "Don’t worry, I wouldn’t do anything rash. But I have to go now, okay?"

With that, after my aunt said a few blessings and scolded about the importance of reaching out for another minute, I hung up and sighed to myself.

I drew in a deep breath as I resolutely stepped out of Kaelos’ room while still having a towel wrapped around my naked body. I knew that would bring unwanted attention but I had no choice if I wanted to head to my room and get dressed.

As expected, a few maids who walked through the hallway began whispering when they saw .

"So the rumors are true? She’s sleeping with the Alpha King?"

"Goddess have rcy. Do you think she has him under a spell?" Another said with fear in her voice.

"Poor Luna Queen Celine. She has to live with this bitch frolicking with her man."

"Yeah, it could never be . Personally, I would have strangled her by now and dumped her body in the Blood Oak woods."

I clenched my jaw and balled my hands into fists but I ignored each one of them until I got into my room. None of them were worth it.

However, when I stepped into my room and finally closed the door behind , sighing with relief, it didn’t take a minute before I furrowed my eyebrows.

I need to go find Caroline.

However, when I turned around and opened my room door, I was stunned to see Beta Marcellus standing in front of it with a smile on his face.

But as I stared at his face, a realization clicked in my head alongside an idea.

’He has to go tonight.’
