Chapter 235: Recharge (Ch.235)

"Mhijani...co over here." Askel called for Zariah, staring at her from where he sat at the desk in his study.

Zariah glanced up from the couch where she worked, passing Askel a questioning look.

"Co sit with ." Askel said to Zariah.

"There is only one seat there." Zariah pointed out the obvious.

"Exactly." Askel agreed, patting his thigh with a smirk.

Zariah rolled her eyes at that, returning her attention to the file she was working on.

"Do you not have sufficient work on your desk? Because I do." Zariah replied to Askel.

"I have been away for hours working and constantly busy these few days...can I not catch a breath?" Askel asked Zariah in an aggrieved tone.

"Take your rest then." Zariah replied simply.

"Co here." Askel said again, his tone firm this ti.

Zariah glanced over, with a sigh, she placed down the file and got up to her feet, walking over to Askel.

Askel watched Zariah with a satisfied smile, a smile that transford into a smirk when Zariah straddled him rather than just sitting.

"That’s my girl..." Askel grunted in a low, husky tone.

Zariah tilted her head to the side, her eyes reflecting her amusent at how swiftly Askel was triggered by a simple act of hers.

"I’m here now, what did you want?" Zariah asked Askel.

Askel groaned quietly, placing a hand on Zariah’s waist to prevent her hips from moving any further.

"Always you...but I will have this beautiful body of yours in just a bit, when you do not have so much on your desk, I must learn to ta my desire... sohow..." Askel said to Zariah.

Zariah laughed quietly and nodded, Askel hugged Zariah instead, and she leaned her head down on his shoulder.

"For now, I just want to recharge your strength. You looked frustrated." Askel said to Zariah.

Zariah’s heart ward at Askel’s words and she nuzzled into his neck, breathing in his scent that cald her in ways nothing else could.

"The dwarves are giving my delegates a hard ti, making unreasonable demands... I am tempted to exempt them from the accord and be done with it, but that would make them prey to the other domains." Zariah muttered quietly.

"The Dwarf King must understand that signing the treaty and renewing the accords is more beneficial to him than it is to you in any way... and not being a part of it would take away immunity." Askel said in displeasure.

"He does know. But the Crimson Moon has been gone for so long, he is testing

to see how well I can handle the opposition of the leaders of the domains... testing my dominance." Zariah replied in a tone of exhaustion.

"Show him then... exactly what he wants to see. You have

backing you, though I know the Crimson Alpha needs no backing." Askel asserted.

"The Crimson Alpha does not need backing...but I will always need my man, Askel." Zariah muttered, snuggling closer to Askel.

"I am not going anywhere." Askel vowed solemnly.

The two remained in that position until there was a knock on the door.

"Co in." Askel permitted.

The door ca open and Lucas stepped in, clearing his throat slightly at the scene.

Zariah rolled her eyes and pulled away from Askel, despite his reluctance, she returned to her seat on the couch where she resud working on the files for the accord.

Askel also returned his attention to his work, while waiting for Lucas to speak.

Lucas fidgeted, visibly hesitant to report to Askel and Askel glanced up from his desk.

"What is it Lucas? Are the Royal Elders stirring up so drama again? I already made it clear to them that I will provide them a suitable answer in seven days. I will not be making any statents regarding the rogue killings before then." Askel said to his second in command firmly.

Zariah glanced up at the ntion of the rogue killings, Askel had already shared his intentions with Zariah and it very much rhyd with what she already had in mind... soone was scheming behind the shadows and they needed to know who.

"I...That is not it..." Lucas revealed.

"Then what?" Askel asked, raising a brow in question.

Lucas hesitated for a mont longer before he replied.

"The Ethereal Alphas have been having secret etings in human settlent for the past month...to discuss the rumors and in the event that the rumors are true, a counter asure against the Royal Lycans." Lucas revealed to Askel.

"We have long been aware of this. It will all be attended to in due ti. If we prevent them at this ti, the mastermind might discover we are onto him...we must let him co out to the light and have all those with traitorous intentions reveal themselves too."

"Since my coronation, it has been my intention to restructure my ranks, my regi will not be as loathso as my father’s, harboring those with ulterior motives and aspirations." Askel said to Lucas clearly.

"I know of your plan. But Queen Sancia and the Royal Lycan elders do not. I have also kept the secret gatherings of those Ethereal Alphas under wraps."

"But sohow, word of it has reached Her Grace. She has gathered a few Royal Lycan elders and warriors most loyal to the previous Alpha King and they have headed out to raid the gathering of the Ethereal Alphas." Lucas reported carefully.

"Wh... what?!" Askel hissed.

Zariah frowned slightly, placing aside her file.

"That is the human settlent. It is neutral ground, no aggression amongst the supernatural species are allowed on neutral grounds in proximity to humans, it is a breach of the accords... and will negatively impact the renewal of it."

"The other domains will not take lightly to the Ethereal Domain obviously flaunting the laws and I will not overlook it." Zariah pointed out.

Askel growled beneath his breath, understanding Queen Sancia was intentionally antagonizing Zariah by carelessly ignoring the accords, putting Zariah in a situation where she would have to be biased for Askel’s sake.

"I will stop her myself." Askel assured Zariah, he got up to his feet and stord out.
