Chapter 164: Rage and Wondering (Ch.164)

The doors to the council hall was thrown open and King Askel stord in, his gaze narrowed into a deadly glare.

Askel had hoped the Crimson wolves were mistaken, that his own council would not dare conspire against his mate behind his back, but it sadly was not so.

The very mont he stepped into the council hall, he t his entire council seated around, holding a eting which he was neither aware of nor had he given his consent for.

That alone told Askel that whatever topic they deliberated, they certainly did not want him to know of it.

The Crimson wolves had spoken the truth, his elders conspired to push out Zariah and assign him another mate.

"What is the aning of this?!" Askel snarled, his golden orbs gave off a dim glow as his wolf rose to the surface.

Askel’s beast was not far behind, the monster within growled lowly in Askel’s mind, like a storm waiting to be awakened at any mont Askel let his rage get the better of him and the wards of his mind weakened.

And how Askel was tempted to let the beast out, so in a mont, all that would be in his sight was blood and not these treacherous faces.

Of all the things Askel could do when his beloved Zariah had finally awakened, this was where he found himself compelled to be.

And the thought of it did not please Askel at all, not in the slightest bit.

A month and a half, he had waited for his mate to open her eyes to him once again and the mont she had, the first thing she had to hear of was the shaful dealings of his council.

"Conspiring to cast my mate out?! With whose permission?!" Askel snarled again, visibly shaking in anger.

’Did an Alpha King absolutely need a council?’ Askel found himself wondering as he glared from one elder to the next.

Askel was greatly tempted to put an end to this council of his at this very mont so they continued their treacherous gatherings in the afterlife and far away from his Zariah.

Askel sucked in a deep breath, praying for calm as he took stock of what he had been forced to handle when he should have been in the warmth of Zariah’s embrace.

"Well?! You dared hold a gathering behind my back and now you lost you ability to speak?!" Askel demanded.

Askel could not help wondering what Zariah was doing at this mont while he was one ntion of her na away from burning down his own palace.

A quiet sigh escaped Zariah’s lips as Nile and Kristen finally left her to herself, albeit reluctantly.

It had taken almost a half hour to convince the spirit guide and his mate to give Zariah the space she needed.

Waking up to find everyone she loved and cared about by her bedside had been comforting, but it had also stirred a lancholic feeling in Zariah’s heart.

"A month and a half..." Zariah murmured to herself.

Having died once already, a coma was as close to death as Zariah could dare imagine, truly, Zariah could have passed on just like that.

She could have died without solving any of her grievances from the past life, she could have died without making right any of the wrongs that had been done to her and the Crimson Moon Pack.

She could have died without ever finding out who the mastermind behind it all had been and she could have died before making sure her sword pierced his heart.

"A month and a half..." Zariah murmured again, still finding it hard to process that she had been in a coma for that long.

Saying the words herself, it was truly a long ti to sleep through, and Zariah could not even question why her limbs felt so numb.

"There is so much I still have to do, so many people I need to protect... risking my life like that..." Zariah trailed off.

For one who bore the weight of an entire lifeti of grievances to settle, Zariah had a greater purpose that she would need to fulfill.

To do this, Zariah needed to stay alive, but it seed the universe would not be making that very easy for her.

From the battle against the forsaken, to the winter woods, Zariah had put herself at great risk yet she could not bring herself to regret.

"If given the choice again, I would probably make the sa decision." Zariah murmured, shaking her head at her ownself.

Zariah sighed quietly as she got up to her feet, holding unto the head board for support as her world spun for a brief mont.

Nile had said Zariah was to call for them if she needed anything as it was not ideal for her to do anything on her own given her condition.

Zariah scoffed beneath her breath, there was no way she could be alive and well and let soone bath her...it was bad enough that she knew that had been happening for over a month already.

"Regardless...it is good to be alive." Zariah said with a quiet chuckle, stretching her hands to relieve the ache in her muscles.

When Zariah was sure her numb legs could finally carry her weight, she headed over to the washroom.

"Creator knows what they have been feeding

with, I stink of herbs." Zariah grumbled in annoyance as she turned on the water to fill up her bath.

The water filled up the large bath at a steady pace, and Zariah leaned against the wall, watching the water in the bath rise steadily while her mind wandered.

Soon, the bath was filled up and Zariah turned off the water before stripping out of her clothing and getting in.

The water was chilling cold and it took Zariah a mont to adjust to it, but for so reason, she did not find it as unsettling as she usually would.

Zariah sat in the bath, leaning against the edge with her hair splayed over behind her whilst wondering what Askel was up to at this mont.
