Chapter 139: A Frozen Lake (Ch.139)

~The Floral Domain

In the deepest, darkest parts of the winter woods, a party had just arrived before a frozen lake.

After hours of relentless search, Holt’s senses had led them here, to a part of the winter woods that even Queen Heveneth dreaded to venture into for it suffered the greatest impact of the outburst of her magic.

However Holt had been assured in his instincts and no one had dared question him for it was this very instinct that had led them to discover the false Lord Dinani in the first place.

It was the very sa instinct that had led them to rescue Queen Heveneth just in ti before her magic could be completely absorbed.

"This is it...she is here... and she is ours..." Holt said in a low tone as he gave control back to Darren.

Darren headed forwards to the frozen lake, his heart beating erratically as his senses were overwheld by an intoxicating scent of peonies and fresh rain.

The frozen lake stretched out for as far as the eye could see and gazing down to the bottom of the frozen lake,

Darren could finally understand the reason his wolf had been on edge since arriving the Floral Domain.

Because at the very bottom of the lake lay a frozen beauty in a shimring golden dress, with hair the shade of fine gold and a flower crown rested on her head.

This frozen beauty exuded that intoxicating scent, the scent of peonies... the only flowery scent that did not irritate Darren’s sensitive nostrils.

"Oh...My Eloneth! Dinani!" Queen Heveneth exclaid as she also caught sight of her daughter and mate, both chained to a rock at the bottom of the frozen lake.

"Mine!" Darren and Holt snarled as one in their deep, possessive tone as all around looked on in shock at Darren’s declaration.

Darren’s hand clenched into a fist and he punched down at the ice, intending to break through it.

The ice was thick and hard and did not budge in the slightest, not even a crack showing up despite the force of Darren’s hit.

Darren was not deterred, he punched down relentlessly, his heart tight with distress and dread at the fate of his mate who had been imprisoned at the bottom of a frozen lake for however long.

"She’s Darren’s mate..." Allen murmured in amazent as all Darren’s strange actions since arriving the Floral Domain made sense to him now.

Allen hurried to Darren’s side, summoning his word and drawing strength from his elent, he thrust it down to the frozen surface of the lake.

Yet, with all the force Allen had mustered, there was not a single crack to be seen and blood already flowed from Darren’s fists due to relentlessly slamming it into the ice.

It beca clear to them at this point that this ice was no ordinary ice and brute force would be futile against it.

"It cannot be broken...it cannot be broken..." Queen Eloneth sobbed out as she crumbled down to her knees, her eyes wide with horror.

"Allen..." Darren said, glancing up at the water elental with a pleading gaze.

Allen dropped to a knee and placed a hand against the ice surface, his eyes shutting closed as he willed the ice to co under his command.

As a water elental, the ice was just a lesser elent to water and Allen had never had any difficulty commanding ice... however this ti was different.

Beneath his lids, Allen saw a dark mist surging towards him and he jumped back in alarm, turning to Darren.

"Dark sorcery...there is an enchantnt of Dark sorcery over the lake. All magic bends to the first blood elental... except the darkness... I cannot break the ice." Allen revealed in a grim tone.

So long as there were strands of darkness woven into the enchantnt, it was no longer within the power of the Crimson Wolves.

"This magic, it’s yours isn’t it?! If Allen cannot break it, why can’t you?! You turned this place into a frozen desert in the first place!" Darren roared at a sobbing Queen Heveneth.

"I... I’ve tried, I cannot undo what has been done to the winter woods and now...with a dark spell cast over the lake... is there truly nothing the Crimson Moon can do?" Queen Heveneth pleaded desperately.

Darren growled furiously, he knew he and Allen were helpless against the enchanted ice, but there was soone who’s elent contradicted that of water and ice.

Soone who wielded the greatest fire elent in the supernatural realm... the Creator’s fla,

And Darren knew a single orb would not be enough... the true source of the Crimson Fla had to wield it in person.

"There is only one way...The Crimson Fla." Lord Kodin murmured from where he stood.

As Lord of the supernatural council, Lord Kodin had the most insight into the abilities of the Crimson Wolves.

"Then the Crimson Alpha must co to our aid without delay! Please Kodin! Speak to him..." Queen Heveneth sobbed desperately.

"Must?!" Allen snarled as his raging gaze turned to the Fairy Queen.

Even Darren found Queen Heveneth’s wording infuriating and a snarl escaped his lips.

The entire supernatural realm knew clearly that the Crimson Alpha did not venture out of the Crimson Barrier, regardless of the reason,

The Floral Domain was not aware that Zariah was already out, which ant they truly expected Zariah would leave the Crimson Barrier to co to their aid.

"Who the hell do you think you are?!" Darren roared furiously at the Fairy Queen’s words.

"Eloneth is your mate! You should do whatever it takes to save her! The Crimson Barrier be damned!" Queen Heveneth raged right back,

"The nerve of this one..." Allen murmured as he placed a hand down on Darren’s shoulder to restrain him before he could lunge, whilst also struggling to calm himself.

"Do not believe yourself entitled to make demands of Crimson Moon, if we are to seek My Alpha’s aid, you will need to rid yourself of that attitude and bend that knee!" Darren snarled, his eyes glowing as he reverted his gaze back to his mate.

Darren’s heart felt conflicted, he desperately wanted to save his mate and he knew if he asked this of Zariah, she would spare no efforts and risk everything to co to his aid,

But was the Floral Domain even deserving of Zariah’s aid...
