Officer Li was behaving far too strangely. This kind of uncontrolled, burning anger made no sense given the current state of their relationship.

The two of them had only known each other for a day. Shen Ying had no mories of this world, but from the way he acted, it didn’t seem like he recognized her either.

Yet ever since yesterday, Officer Li’s deliberate provocations had been glaringly obvious. Now, he was acting more like a cat who’d just found out its favorite toy had been given away.

The way he looked at Shen Ying was full of accusation and resentnt.

Shen Ying found it amusing. She could sense there was so kind of connection between them.

The milk delivery guy and the shop owner gave her the sa feeling—but the problem was, none of the people involved seed to know the truth.

The only one who probably had the full picture was her so-called "husband."

Shen Ying wasn’t in a hurry to pry the truth out of anyone. After all, in her eyes, none of these four were as simple as the identities they presented.

Take Officer Li, for example. His aura alone made it clear he was the kind of notorious figure whose na would shake the world.

There was no way he was just so ordinary community police officer.

While she was still figuring out how to play along, Lien suddenly snapped, "How dare you let him use all of it?"

Shen Ying smirked. "Officer Li, what’s this about? They’re my things, and he’s my husband. Of course I can use them however I want."

Lien imdiately realized how ridiculous his outburst sounded—especially since, deep down, he’d subconsciously claid those shaless toys as his own. The realization made his skin crawl.

Still, he quickly scrambled for an excuse. "Did you forget? For the sake of inspection, I had to dismantle those things at the station."

"You really have no sha, using sothing I’ve touched. You’re not picky at all, are you?"

Shen Ying sighed. "Of course I’d prefer my husband to be the one to unbox them, but didn’t you insist I cooperate with your inspection, Officer Li?"

"And they were expensive. It’s not like I should just throw them away after opening, right?"

Lien only grew angrier. "Isn’t that guy loaded? Let him buy his own. He shouldn’t be using mine."

Then, realizing how that sounded, he corrected himself, "He shouldn’t be using things I’ve handled. I find it disgusting."

Shen Ying nodded. "Fine, fine. If Officer Li is so bothered, I won’t bother being frugal over such a small expense."

"I’ll throw out the rest when I get back and place a new order."

"Though this ti, I hope you won’t detain for another round of questioning."

She moved to leave, but Lien grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "Where do you think you’re going? I didn’t say you could leave."

Shen Ying raised an eyebrow. "And what’s your excuse for keeping this ti, Officer Li?"

Lien glanced at her empty hands and realized he didn’t have a good reason. But the thought of her going back to that idiot "husband" of hers, playing with the toys he’d marked as his own—just the idea made his blood boil with an irrational, jealous fury.

It was absurd, but he couldn’t suppress it.

At that mont, his true nature surfaced. No police badge could hide the lawless arrogance beneath.

With a cold expression, he said, "You’ve assaulted an officer and resisted arrest. I’m detaining you for assaulting a police officer."

Shen Ying blinked. "I didn’t—"

Before she could finish, a gun was shoved into her hand.

She stared at the weapon in bewildernt. "Officer Li, aren’t you afraid I might actually shoot you?"

Lien scoffed. "I’ll let you empty the entire magazine. If you land a single shot, I’ll admit defeat."

With that, a pair of gleaming handcuffs snapped around her wrist—the one holding the gun.

"Enough talking. Get in the car."

Under the stunned gaze of Lien’s colleague, Shen Ying was pushed into the police car.

The other officer stood frozen for a long mont before finally stamring, "Wait, what the—"

Lien waved him off. "I suspect this woman is involved in sothing. You know my instincts are sharp—no criminal’s ever slipped past ."

"Don’t worry about it. Just keep patrolling."

His colleague wanted to call bullshit. Anyone with eyes could see Lien was obsessed with this newlywed woman.

He hurriedly warned, "Don’t do anything reckless. The chief’s still furious about yesterday."

"You ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍pissed off a powerful man’s wife without solid evidence."

"If you pull this again, no one can protect you. Rumor has it her husband’s background is terrifying—even the chief won’t talk about it in detail."

Lien couldn’t care less. Though he was just a low-ranking officer, he’d never felt the slightest reverence for so-called "important figures."

With a domineering glare, he dismissed the guard and got into the car.

Once inside, he cuffed Shen Ying’s hand to the door.

His erald-green eyes lingered on her, a dangerous thought flashing through his mind—what if he just drove off with her? Kept her cuffed to him forever?

Noticing the shift in his gaze, Shen Ying spoke up. "Officer Li, isn’t this inappropriate? If things get too intense in here, the car will shake."

"And is this vehicle’s glass even one-way?"

Lien’s face flushed red. "What the hell do you take for?"

"I’m not so scumbag who’d force himself on you."

Shen Ying tilted her head in mock confusion. "No? Then why did you plant a gun on and fra ?"

"This isn’t just routine questioning anymore. What exactly do you want from , Officer Li?"

Lien’s breath hitched, his thoughts—
