Saint George soon departed, as he had much to do in order to properly handle the aftermath.
"I never expected a saint to be handling the cleanup in this city! The more I learn, the more fascinating it becos. This Singularity is truly interesting!"
Arcueid watched with keen interest as Saint George dragged Flauros away, her face brimming with genuine delight.
"Aren't you tired at all?"
Eiji looked Arcueid up and down, his eyes filled with astonishnt.
After all, she had just battled an Ancestor of the Dead Apostles, sustained injuries in the process, and wasn't even at her peak condition to begin with. Yet she appeared completely unfazed. It was truly baffling where her limits lay.
"True Ancestors don't feel fatigue. For us, there's no such concept as physical stamina!"
Arcueid puffed out her ample chest, her face radiating with pride after victory.
"Being a True Ancestor is wonderful!"
Eiji's face was full of envy; he was tired of expressing how much he admired it.
Arcueid's proud expression deepened.
"However, from my perspective, Eiji, you're actually even more incredible!"
Arcueid looked at Eiji with great interest, her eyes filled with curiosity.
"Although I said earlier that you definitely couldn't defeat him, thinking back now, that might not necessarily be true. And personally, I find you far more troubleso than Flauros!"
Or perhaps it could be said that Flauros was much weaker than she had imagined.
Although he possessed the Blood Ring, having beco an Ancestor only about a hundred years ago, he hadn't fully mastered the Blood Ring, and the blood he had accumulated was far from sufficient. Which truly powerful Ancestor hadn't accumulated for several hundred years?
If Eiji were to encounter those Ancestors who had accumulated for hundreds or thousands of years, he would most likely end up being turned into a servant.
Eiji spread his hands.
As if to say, just you wait, let develop a bit more!
Once I'm fully developed, I'll settle accounts with you all. Whoever backs down is a coward!
"With two enemies taken care of at once, the only one left is Roa, right?"
"Mhm."
Arcueid's expression turned serious, her deanor becoming focused.
"I've helped you deal with Flauros as promised, so you must help resolve the Roa situation. Don't even think about going back on your word!"
"Of course, I won't break the agreent."
Eiji shrugged, his expression equally earnest.
If Roa isn't eliminated, he wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully. Who knows what sches that cunning fellow might co up with?
"It's a pity that the casualties from this incident were still too great."
Eiji turned to survey his surroundings.
Everything within a one-kiloter radius was encased in ice, the air frighteningly cold. Any normal human caught in it would freeze to death instantly.
The ghouls created by Flauros had also been frozen into ice sculptures by his own power.
This was never Eiji's original intention.
They had initially decided to fight in a remote suburban area where the battle wouldn't harm anyone. But no one expected Flauros to enter a "frozen senseless" state, where he recognized no one and acted without any rationality, wreaking havoc on the streets.
Because of this, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of people lost their lives in this chaos.
"As expected, humans grieve for the death of their kind."
Arcueid murmured softly.
"Isn't that obvious?"
Eiji sighed, feeling sowhat guilty.
"The humans here are all real humans. Their deaths are absolutely not illusions. Even if this Singularity is repaired, they won't revive..."
Everything would cease to exist.
This was sothing Scáthach had personally confird to him, but this rule only applied to living humans.
Once soone dies in this Singularity, even if the Singularity is repaired, their death cannot be reversed. The only difference is that the space-ti restoration force would change their cause of death from "killed by Dead Apostle" to "died in the Great Cold Wave" or sothing similar.
This is the universal rule of Singularities.
Thinking about it still made him a bit angry. He really should have slashed Flauros a few more tis earlier!
"But the people inside the buildings didn't die!"
Arcueid raised a finger, speaking with a cheerful smile.
"Huh?"
Eiji suddenly froze.
"Before Flauros released the cold wave, I created thermal insulation barriers around the area. Although they didn't completely block it, the temperature should have been controlled to around minus several tens of degrees. They might have frozen unconscious, but they wouldn't freeze to death!"
Arcueid's face lit up with a proud smile.
Thinking back carefully, before Flauros activated his blood seal, Arcueid did make a protective gesture.
At the ti, Eiji thought she was protecting herself, but he never expected she had protected both him and the surrounding residents.
"Arcueid, you're such a wonderful person!"
Eiji praised her profusely.
"Hehe!"
Arcueid proudly lifted her head and chest.
"But how did you think to protect the humans?"
Eiji felt sowhat puzzled again.
"Because aren't you human, Eiji?"
Arcueid smiled brilliantly.
"I thought you definitely wouldn't want to see your fellow humans suffering large-scale casualties, so I did it!"
For a mont, Eiji had to admit he was deeply moved.
Arcueid, my super sweet and innocent girl!
"Anyway, thank you!"
Eiji reached out, smiling as he ruffled her smooth golden short hair into a ss.
Arcueid imdiately shot him a dissatisfied look.
"Alright, let's head back too. Now we can focus all our efforts on searching for Roa!"
Eiji clapped his hands, speaking with full of motivation.
Arcueid pouted and nodded.
Eiji scanned his surroundings.
Without its controller, the cold wave dissipated like rootless duckweed, and the air temperature gradually ward up.
As for the ordinary people in those buildings, he believed Saint George would handle things properly.
His gaze fell on a certain direction, but then suddenly paused.
"What's wrong?"
Arcueid, having fixed her hair, noticed his reaction and couldn't help but ask.
"Nothing, it's just that Carmilla's corpse has disappeared at so point."
Eiji rubbed his chin.
In that spot, there was still a pool of frozen blood.
But the corpse had vanished.
The Heroic Spirits in this Singularity are all incarnated Servants. Unlike Servants in the Holy Grail War who disappear into particles of light after death, they would definitely leave behind corpses.
"Did Saint George take it away?"
Eiji pondered.
Earlier, he had been busy sniping Flauros. To make blind shots in the thick white fog, he had to use his Instinct at full capacity, so he hadn't paid attention to the situation over there.
"Well, her spiritual core is shattered anyway. She can only rest in peace now."
Eiji shook his head and stopped thinking about it further.
Rather than dwelling on these pointless thoughts, it's better to consider how to find Roa's hiding place next.
After all, the Church will handle all the follow-up matters properly.
The Church in this city cannot be viewed as an ordinary church—even Roa wouldn't dare to provoke it.
Night had deepened.
Eiji and Arcueid soon departed together.
The next morning.
At dawn, when the sky was just beginning to brighten.
"Ring, ring, ring!"
The old-fashioned telephone in Kuonji Manor suddenly rang, completely shattering the tranquil atmosphere of the Western-style mansion.
