Whether the awakening failed or not, even if it succeeded, she would end up like Carmilla—falling under the control of soone like Roa.

Approaching death, she had instead beco more carefree.

"Kid, you said earlier... cough... that you would carry on my will in battle, right?"

Carmilla was extrely weak.

Despite being a Dead Apostle, blood continuously flowed from her chest, staining the front of her clothes crimson.

"Yes, I promise you—I will definitely kill Roa with my own hands."

Eiji's gaze sharpened.

"I can't tell you anything. The blood binds my soul."

Carmilla smiled bitterly, her expression bleak.

Even though she was a Heroic Spirit, after awakening, she had been completely controlled by the Dead Apostle, devoid of any autonomy—like a puppet. It was a trendous blow to the dignity of a Heroic Spirit.

Though she was an Anti-Hero, after all.

"Go investigate... my family..."

The throbbing in her chest gradually slowed, eventually coming to a complete stop.

Soon, Carmilla's life force vanished entirely, not a trace remaining.

"Her family?"

Eiji pondered thoughtfully.

Now that he thought about it, he really hadn't looked into Carmilla's family situation.

Could it be that her family held the key to the problem?

Carmilla's corpse lay motionless on the ground, her soul having long since returned to its rightful place.

As he looked at her body, a question arose in Eiji's mind.

What did this second life an to these Heroic Spirits?

For Eiji, who already knew the purpose behind the creation of this Singularity, most of these Heroic Spirits were rely pawns in the hands of a few, like Goetia.

To put it bluntly, their futures were already predetermined.

There was no happiness to be found in this second life.

Did their lives here truly have any aning?

"Clang!"

The fierce sound of clashing steel echoed from afar, interrupting Eiji's thoughts.

He shook his head, clearing away the unnecessary ideas, and hurried toward the other battlefield.

...

Sparks and flashes of lightning flickered incessantly.

A single strike from the massive knight's lance shattered the ground into a spiderweb of cracks, while a swift swipe of sharp claws left deep gashes in the earth. The concrete surface seed as fragile as mud.

The battle here was far more intense than the other one!

After all, Carmilla, as a Servant, wasn't particularly strong to begin with. She lacked powerful skills, her Noble Phantasm was diocre, and her anti-female specialty was utterly useless against Eiji.

Amid the intense hum, two figures repeatedly passed each other by.

"Tch, this is getting more and more troubleso!"

Flauros lowered his head, a trace of impatience flashing across his cold face.

He unleashed his full power, further releasing the frigid currents within him. Icy white mist surged toward Arcueid like an avalanche.

But Arcueid treated it as nothing, crossing her arms in front of her. The cold currents split into two streams automatically, like seawater eting a reef.

"Hah!"

Arcueid let out a light laugh, her face full of composure.

Before anyone noticed, she had already changed her attire. The white sweater and black tights had vanished, replaced by an outfit reminiscent of European nobility in winter—a white coat draped with a fluffy shawl, her legs now encased in white stockings, giving her an overall warm and cozy appearance.

"She can freely switch between black and white stockings? What a terrifying woman, Arcueid!"

Eiji had reached the edge of the battlefield, where hard ice covered everything, and the chilling air currents were many tis more fearso than those at the poles.

Gazing at Arcueid's white-stockinged legs, Eiji couldn't help but voice his admiration.

Perfect shape, excellent resilience, full of strength, and incredibly soft.

Even with his highly discerning taste, he could only praise them as exceptional!

"Is that all you've got?"

Arcueid moved with effortless grace through the frigid currents, her expression calm and composed.

"Can your Blood Ring unleash even colder air?"

"Tch!"

Flauros's face twisted in frustration.

The power of the Blood Ring was a trendous burden for him. Each use consud a massive amount of thermal energy, and every activation made his body grow colder by another degree.

Having beco a Progenitor Demon only about a century ago, he hadn't yet mastered the Blood Ring's full potential.

On the other hand, Arcueid had already gauged the limits of his abilities and adjusted her physique to withstand the cold. Even in temperatures as low as minus two hundred degrees Celsius, she could walk through it unfazed.

Her new outfit was the result of this physical adjustnt—a testant to the terrifying capabilities of a True Ancestor!

The reason she had suffered a setback earlier was simply because she hadn't known Flauros's background and never expected him to possess the power of the Blood Ring.

But now that his abilities were laid bare, Arcueid could effortlessly dominate the battlefield!

"Seems like I'm not even needed here anymore?"

Eiji continued to observe from the sidelines, staying out of the action.

One had to admit, Arcueid with her restored power was truly formidable, even if it was only about half of her full strength!

"If this continues, my blood will be completely drained!"

Flauros began to consider retreat.

Progenitor Demons were ageless and immortal, making it nearly impossible to kill them completely.

However, each ti they regenerated their bodies, it consud blood. Once their blood reserves were exhausted, and they were torn apart, it would take decades or even centuries to recover!

The Holy Church had used this principle to successfully seal several Progenitor Demons into coffins, placing them in their headquarters to undergo baptismal hymns day and night, ensuring they could never recover.

They then proudly claid to have "slain several Progenitor Demons."

As the youngest Progenitor Demon, Flauros had accumulated the least amount of blood, making him arguably the weakest in this regard.

If his blood ran out, there would be no chance of recovery!

"Has the battle over there ended? That useless woman!"

Out of the corner of his eye, Flauros caught sight of Eiji.

If these two joined forces, he would be finished.

He had to escape now!

"Grahhhhh—!!"

Flauros made up his mind.

He deliberately took a direct hit from Arcueid's claw, using the trendous recoil to propel himself backward.

While still mid-air, he unleashed the full power of the Blood Ring!

He fed all the blood in his body—except for the most vital ten percent—into the ring as fuel, releasing the strongest and most extre cold wave he had ever produced!

In the blink of an eye, a massive surge of frigid air erupted like a tsunami!

White mist instantly enveloped the entire world before their eyes—the earth, sky, and air, everything was assimilated by the cold current, transforming into a frost-covered realm.

The ultra-low temperature at this mont approached absolute zero infinitely!

"A desperate struggle!"

With a single thought, Arcueid crossed her arms in front of her body, wrapping herself in a thermal insulation barrier once more.

After this strike, Flauros would likely have little strength left—that would mark the end of this battle!

"Now's the chance!"

anwhile, Flauros steeled his resolve and swiftly fled the battlefield.
