By evening, almost no one remained in the school.

Eiji walked out of Scáthach's office, patting his shoulder, and began his journey ho with Aoko.

"Eiji, Aoko! You're finally out!"

Arcueid suddenly jumped out from a corner, looking at the two with a resentful expression.

Aoko looked exhausted and didn't want to say a word.

"Whoa, what are you doing here?"

Eiji stared at her in disbelief.

"Didn't you say you were going to look for Roa?"

"I already searched the entire school today!"

"You really only searched within the school... And the result?"

"No abnormalities at all. Or rather, abnormalities everywhere?"

Arcueid pointed at her cheek with her finger, speaking sowhat uncertainly.

"I get it. You an besides Roa not being here, the entire school feels off, right?"

Eiji nodded in understanding.

"Exactly! Eiji, you're so smart!"

"That's just from experience!"

Eiji shook his head with a sentintal expression.

Back when I first found out what Type-Moon Academy was like, I was in a state of wanting to complain for several days straight—even beautiful girls didn't seem appealing anymore.

"By the way, you didn't say anything strange to the people at school, did you?"

Eiji suddenly thought of sothing and anxiously asked Arcueid.

"Tell , do you think I'm an idiot?"

Arcueid wore an expression that said "how could that be possible."

"Of course I didn't say anything strange to those people!"

She had only gone to the student council room during her search.

Because it had rained heavily during the day, she hadn't been able to go many other places. But she couldn't detect even a hint of Roa's scent, so she was certain he wasn't here.

Unfortunately, the student council president wasn't there—apparently the school administration had called her away for sothing. Only a woman in a maid outfit received her. After exchanging pleasantries for a while, and learning that she was Eiji's friend, the maid asked about his recent situation. After Arcueid truthfully explained, for so reason the maid's expression beca rather strange.

Incidentally, that was also where she learned that Eiji was in this building, which is why she ca here looking for him. But after not being able to find him for a long ti, she had no choice but to stake out this spot.

Anyway, she hadn't said anything strange.

Arcueid was completely certain of this.

"That's good!"

Eiji breathed a sigh of relief.

"Let's head back."

...

That night.

After the heavy rain, the stifling heat of the day had completely disappeared. The air had beco quite cool, neon lights flickered throughout the city, and the sounds of noise filled the streets.

"Are you sure you've recovered well?"

Eiji asked Arcueid as they walked along the street.

"Yeah, no problem!"

Arcueid nodded cheerfully.

"I've recovered about fifty to sixty percent of my usual strength. No matter what Dead Apostle we encounter, it won't be a problem!"

Such vitality is truly admirable!

Even after dying once, she recovered most of her power on her own in just a day and a half. True Ancestors are truly incredible creatures.

"I really want to be a True Ancestor!"

Eiji's eyes showed envy.

Dead Apostles are another matter—they have huge flaws. Having to drink blood and all that is practically comical. Unless they reach the level of Ancestors, they're all just trash.

But True Ancestors are different. True Ancestors are completely immortal and ageless, without the flaw of needing to drink blood—they only have blood-sucking impulses. With his willpower, could he really not suppress it?

"Hmph!"

Facing Eiji's envious gaze, Arcueid proudly raised her head and puffed out her chest.

Most ordinary people would fear her because of her vampire identity. Even those who actively approached her were usually magicians with ulterior motives toward the True Ancestor's blood.

She had long grown tired of hearing words of envy.

But for so reason, hearing him say that made her feel incredibly happy.

"Let's stop here."

The two arrived at the outskirts of the city and found a secluded open space.

"I'm going to start now!"

Arcueid announced, then stood completely still.

After a while, a cool breeze began to blow through the air.

"Did it work?"

Eiji looked around but detected nothing unusual.

"It's done!"

Arcueid nodded with a calm expression.

"I've released my aura. If nothing goes wrong, it should lure out that Fire Dead Apostle!"

As for Roa.

Given his personality, he probably wouldn't show himself easily until he fully digested the scale he had stolen.

Now, they just needed to wait for that Fire Dead Apostle to appear on its own.

"Speaking of which, Arcueid, isn't there any thod to turn humans into True Ancestors?"

Taking advantage of the enemy not having appeared yet, Eiji seized the opportunity to ask Arcueid.

"Hmm..."Hearing this, Arcueid looked at Eiji with a subtle expression, her scrutinizing gaze full of bewildernt."

"What's wrong? Is there sothing strange about ?"

Eiji looked down at his body.

For tonight's battle, he had specifically changed into sportswear that allowed easy movent. It had been specially processed by Alice, giving it excellent fire resistance. He also wore a waist pouch containing so tools to use against Dead Apostles.

"No, you're as pleasing to the eye as ever.Arcueid said this, but the subtle expression on her face remained unchanged.

"It's just... how should I put it? Your idea is really quite bold..."

Ordinary magicians only have designs on Dead Apostles.

So magicians, wanting to research magic forever, would seek to beco immortal Dead Apostles by pledging allegiance to the Twenty-Seven Ancestors, but no magician had ever shown interest in True Ancestors.

At most, they might ask True Ancestors to turn them into Dead Apostles. She had never encountered anyone who wanted to beco a True Ancestor.

"True Ancestors are all created by the planet itself, so there's no such thing as reincarnation involved!"

Arcueid shook her head.

"I understand that logically. What I an is, aren't there things like artificial True Ancestors or sothing?"

Eiji continued questioning, his eyes full of expectation.

"...That idea even shocked ."

Arcueid was first stunned, then stared at him wide-eyed.

Absurd, where did such an idea co from?

"There's no such being, at least not that I know of."

Arcueid shook her head again.

"To put it simply, I don't know of any thod that can turn a person into a True Ancestor."

Turning into a Dead Apostle is relatively simple, but becoming a True Ancestor is impossible.

After all, True Ancestors are natural-born vampires, products of Gaia's will, spirits born from the Earth itself, closer to gods in nature.

"I see."

Eiji sighed regretfully, his face showing unconcealed disappointnt.

Watching him like this, Arcueid inadvertently recalled those magicians—his level of persistence was completely comparable to theirs.

Arcueid wanted to comfort him but didn't know what to say, so she gave up on speaking and began observing their surroundings instead.

"Look, there's a fire over there!"

Arcueid suddenly exclaid.

Her gaze fixed on the city several kiloters away.

"It's the scent of a Dead Apostle... No way, is that guy actually going on a rampage in the city?"
