She looked at Li Jinnan, and was about to say sothing when Li Jinnan continued without a change in expression, “But.”
Ye Youyou’s words died in her throat when she saw how at ease Li Jinnan was being.
“But?” Ye Youyou looked at him as she waited for him to finish his sentence.
Li Jinnan turned to face his back to her and replied slowly, “Opportunities are for those who are prepared. Luck may co your way, but your ability and reputation are what’s most important. Instead of worrying that you may be cast aside, focus your attention on improving your ability so much that you beco indispensable to others.”
Ye Youyou didn’t say a word, but she nodded in reply.
Li Jinnan cast a glance at her before walking toward the exit.
As he walked off, his next statent sounded half like an explanation and half like a goodbye. “You have a lot of potential, so don’t let it go to waste. Since I now know you’re fine, I’ll be leaving. Take good care of yourself. When you’re fully recovered, have Mila let know.”
That last sentence settled Ye Youyou’s emotions. Have Mila let know. In other words, he wasn’t keeping an eye on her in particular and had no idea when she’d be recovered. The implication of that statent reassured her.
“I will,” she said. “Take care, GM Li.”
Li Jinnan heard the relief in her voice, and his jaw clenched imperceptibly. Nevertheless, he walked off without another word.
