Buzz Windbreaker floated like a dying ember through the musky air of the thick canopy. At length he ca upon what seed a naturally shaped citadel, a slab of stone of gigantic dinsions, suspended between the roots of ancient trees and the mangled stumps of fallen logs. Hanging over the moss-slick ground like a sleeping giant of the Age of Bone, the stone threw a long, protecting shadow.

The place was a tactical masterpiece. This shady cove was about two hundred and seventy ters away, and close enough to rush back to in case of ergency or opportunity, without being too far away to be within the psychic tether of the spiritual predator, Tenebrisilk, who crouched in silent stoicism at the cursed tree.

Here the air was cooler, the mana-tension deadened by the stone that surrounded and apparently opposed the weave of spiritual radiation. Buzz’s wings finally relaxed, their vibrating frequency subsiding to a gentle whir.

"Now," he muttered internally, an undertone of anticipation dancing through his buzzing thoughts, "let us ascend."

[Initiating Evolutionary Pathway Sequence...]

[Permission Granted: Evolution recognized through accumulation of gene matter and lifespan essence.]

[Comncing Evolution.]

The world broke.

No, it was his body.

The pressure within was titanic, as though the latticework of his genetic code were falling in and reforming. His legs curled reflexively as his exoskeleton burst in a spray of liquid blood and glowing essence. The blood cocoon hung, like molten obsidian impregnated with divine plasma, to the beat of sothing ancient and eternal.

Mana threads—bluish, whispering with ancient syllables—began coalescing from the forest air, drawn into the storm of rebirth. They spiraled inward, funneling toward the writhing sphere like veins feeding a god’s heart. With every second, Buzz consud more: mana filants, lifeforce residue, even micro-particles of spiritual breath. The atmosphere thickened to a syrupy viscosity.

Cracks laced through the base of the stone overhead as runic tension pressed downward, threatening to fracture the natural shelter into rubble. But Buzz held firm in suspension, his transformation guided by an unseen algorithm scripted in the language of chaos.

Finally, after an eternity that could have been minutes or a micro-age:

CRACK!

The sphere exploded.

Like the rupture of a dying star, a detonation of crimson light burst across the forest, forcing mana beasts in the vicinity to flinch, scatter, or howl in despair.

Buzz erged.

He was no longer the pitiful micro-predator he had once been. His fra had expanded to an unsettling length of nearly eight centiters, and his proboscis had evolved into an organ of surgical savagery—spiked, ridged, and drenched in dormant toxin. His carapace shimred with faint reflective threads, resistant to minor elental ripples. Every limb pulsed with subtle echoes of internal force.

His maxillary palps and antennae beca hypersensitive organs, able to decode scent trails into visual data. His eyes—once overwheld by radiant saturation—now filtered the forest into layers of scent, temperature, and spiritual wavelength.

He was not simply bigger.

He was smarter, faster, crueler, and woven tighter into the spiritual fabric of the world.

And yet, sothing gnawed at him.

"No bloodline... yet," Buzz murmured with a twitch of disdain. The weight of unrealized potential lingered in his limbs.

He summoned his status interface, and it materialized before his mind’s eye in elegant, spiraling runes.

Buzz felt sothing deeper now. He no longer simply "moved." He accelerated with intent. Every flap of his wings ca layered with silent equations of air resistance and gravitic tension. Every twitch of his sensory limbs decoded space with algorithmic precision.

And in the back of his mind, a phrase whispered.

"This world is readable now."

---

Far away, within the great arboreal fortress of spiritual saturation, Tenebrisilk stirred.

The spider’s eight eyes glimred.

A pulse had reached it—not of danger, but of resonance.

"That little parasite... evolved?"

The spider extended one leg and scraped it gently along its web, the vibrations running through the silk like sonar. It detected nothing within direct range, but a residual wave pulsed through the deeper mana-field.

"How did he break the natural cap... so early?"

It blinked slowly.

mories ford.

The scent of blood from the knight’s corpse.

The sweet rot of stolen life.

The spiritual energy that had been sealed within a dead man’s form.

Tenebrisilk narrowed its eyes. It wasn’t fear that it felt.

It was intrigue.

---

Buzz went dashing away, his wings flashing like serrated daggers in twilight. The woods were slower now. The wind talked more plainly. His senses were teased by vibrations like a musical score.

He drew up at the tree of Tenebrisilk, eyes keen.

[Ding! A Stage 2 Entity has been detected.]

Buzz shuddered inwardly.

He was not even near.

His spiritual pressure was half of Tenebrisilk.

But just as he started to draw back, the voice ca again.

Shrieking, infantile, and oozing with unnatural naivete:

"What did you do, thief? You feel different now."

Buzz twitched.

He flared up.

"Thief? Really? You half-woven eight-legged soft-brained canopy clown, I’ll make you eat your webs!"

The forest was silent a heartbeat.

Then the spider said.

"...I’m sorry, thief. I didn’t an to hurt you."

Buzz paused.

His compound eyes twinkled twice.

Apologize? Did it?

An idea flashed in his mind.

He cleared his throat theatrically.

"Sorry? Hah... You believe that is sufficient? My little, little heart is broken to pieces. Apologize again. But this ti, in poetry."

Thus a new relationship was started.

Not by trust.

However, sarcastically.

And perhaps, perhaps...

Opportunity.
