"Does your dad know you can see ?" Du Jianghe cautiously leaned over to Duoduo and asked in a low voice.

He was extrely curious. Having lived for decades and been dead for a few months, it was the first ti he encountered a living person who could see him, and it was such a young child.

Duoduo didn’t answer imdiately. She just looked up and glanced at Lin Jianming behind the counter, "It’s the round-bellied dad."

Lin Jianming paused his movents, put down the cloth, looked at his daughter, and asked with a hint of curiosity, "Where is he now?"

Upon hearing this, Duoduo imdiately lifted her small hand and pointed to Du Jianghe standing beside her, "Right here."

Du Jianghe instinctively straightened his body, cupped his hands in the direction of Lin Jianming, and politely greeted, "Hello, sir."

But as soon as he finished speaking, he realized that the other party couldn’t see him. His gaze didn’t linger on him, only resting on the space Duoduo was pointing to without any focus.

Du Jianghe felt a bit awkward at once, silently retracting his hand, and his curiosity grew even stronger.

He lowered his head again, looking at this special little girl in front of him, and asked curiously, "Why can you see , but your dad cannot? Wait, is he really your dad? Are you adopted?"

Du Jianghe scrutinized Lin Jianming and Song Qingwei, unable to see how either was old enough to have given birth to a daughter as young as Duoduo.

He couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander. Was she a test-tube baby? Or perhaps, was it because Duoduo was born under special circumstances that she naturally possessed the ability to see ghosts?

Duoduo was very angry upon hearing this. Before Du Jianghe could react, Duoduo lifted her little short leg and gently kicked his ankle, puffing with anger, "He is definitely my dad, I’m not adopted."

"Ouch~"

Du Jianghe stiffened all over, instinctively hugging his ankle, twitching from the pain.

The kick clearly felt light without any force, but when it landed on him, it was as if the tip of a red-hot needle pierced him hard, the pain searing to the bone, making even his ethereal soul body shiver slightly.

Du Jianghe was stunned.

He’s a ghost, without a flesh body or sense of pain, how could he feel pain?

In an instant, shock, confusion, and disbelief all piled on his face, changing his curious gaze toward Duoduo to one of awe.

Lin Jianming saw his daughter suddenly raging and lifting her foot towards the air, his expression imdiately darkened: "What’s wrong, why are you angry all of a sudden? Did he bully you?"

Duoduo pouted, disdainfully saying, "He wouldn’t dare bully ."

Lin Jianming thought it made sense. His daughter was with the ghost gods, how could she be bullied by a ghost.

So he relaxed, smiled and said, "Then I won’t disturb you, you handle it yourself."

After saying that, Lin Jianming exchanged a look with Song Qingwei, and they both tacitly moved to the shelves, pretending to clean off dust, leaving the space to Duoduo and her "special guest," while quietly listening to the movents here.

When the adults moved away, Du Jianghe slowly ca to himself from the stinging pain.

He walked over to Duoduo, with a hint of awe in his tone: "Little friend, who exactly are you? Why are you so special?"

Duoduo tilted her little head, thinking seriously, then solemnly introduced herself: "I’m a Guiding Child, do you need to go to the Netherworld? I can take you there."

"No, no, no..." Du Jianghe waved his hand in fright.

If he wanted to go to the Netherworld, he would have gone already, why would he wait until now.

However, he beca even more curious: "Are you a Ghost ssenger?"

Duoduo blinked her eyes, thought for a mont, and gently nodded.

That was about it.

Du Jianghe was instantly thrilled, with questions pouring out one after another: "You’re human, how did you beco a Ghost ssenger? And you’re so young? What is the Netherworld really like? Is there truly a Hell? Are there eighteen layers?"

He spoke very fast, with excitent and anxiety.

Living his entire life, having heard countless legends, he finally had the chance to get answers from a true "Ghost ssenger," how could he not be excited.

Before Duoduo could answer, Du Jianghe continued on his own, his tone carrying a bit of urgency and unease: "My entire life, I’ve never done anything shaful. I was a firefighter, rescuing people, and in the end, I sacrificed myself to save lives. With a lifeti like mine, I shouldn’t go to Hell, should I? Can I be reincarnated into a good family in my next life..."

He rambled on for a bit, then looked down to see Duoduo just staring at him with big eyes, looking confused and obviously not understanding much.

Du Jianghe suddenly felt a bit embarrassed, scratching his head: "Uh, sorry, I think I talked too much."

He soon rembered sothing even more important, quickly stepping back a small distance, and cautiously said: "I really don’t want to go to the Netherworld right now. I want to spend more ti with my wife and kid... so, I’ll not disturb you then."

He was filled with curiosity about this little Ghost ssenger nad Duoduo, but was also fearful deep down.

Children can be unpredictable, and if she didn’t listen to reason and forcibly took him back to the Netherworld, he would have nowhere to argue his case.

"If you don’t want to go then don’t go." Duoduo looked indifferent.

Du Jianghe’s steps, intended for leaving, suddenly halted.

"You’re not going to take back?" He looked incredulous.

In his impression, Ghost ssengers were all responsible for bringing ghosts back to the Netherworld.

"Why would I take you back?" Duoduo tilted her little head, looking puzzled, "Aren’t you unwilling to go back?"

Du Jianghe was stunned for a while before exhaling deeply, self-deprecatingly saying: "Right, right... It’s my mistake."

He steadied himself and brought the topic back, even showing a hint of anticipation in his eyes: "By the way, you haven’t told how you, at such a young age, beca a Ghost ssenger."

Others might not know, but he, as a genuine Northern person, did.

In life, he wanted to work in public service; in death, he wished to get a decent civil job in the Netherworld.

If he could figure out how Duoduo beca a Ghost ssenger, perhaps he could secure a similar post later on, rather than becoming a wandering ghost.

To be honest, he was quite ambitious.

But by chance, he t Duoduo.

Perhaps there is indeed such an opportunity.

"My brother made one." Duoduo answered honestly.

"Brother?" Du Jianghe’s eyes lit up, quickly asking, "You have a brother? Is he also a Ghost ssenger? No wait, is he an official in the Netherworld?"

From his perspective, only an official holding a high position in the Underworld would have the authority to appoint a Ghost ssenger at will.

Although Duoduo was young, she also knew not to spill everything.

She simply looked at Du Jianghe and said seriously, "Do you want to et him? I can take you to see him, and if you have any wishes, my brother could even help you fulfill them."

"Really?" Du Jianghe was first overjoyed, but beca cautious the next second, "He... he won’t take back to the Netherworld, right?"

Duoduo appeared even more puzzled: "Why would he take you back? Did you do sothing bad?"

"No, no..." Du Jianghe quickly waved his hand, speaking with utmost sincerity, "In my lifeti, I’ve saved countless people, and in the end, I died saving others, how could I possibly do anything bad."

"Saving people?"

Hearing him ntion this repeatedly, Duoduo was also growing curious.

Seeing that Duoduo was genuinely interested, Du Jianghe didn’t hide, and began to recount his past.
