Tang Lingfeng’s mother’s na is Zhang Guixi, a native of the Bin Hai Danzai Family.

Since she was young, she lived off fishing with her family. Other than that, she had no other life skills, and even after returning to the shore from the sea, she never left Bin Hai.

It was the developnt of Bin Hai and the influx of tourists that showed her the colorful world and how vast it is.

For this, she is grateful to her husband Tang Xiaoshan, who brought her ashore to live.

She t Tang Xiaoshan through an introduction when she was just 17. After a few etings, they got married and had their first child, who unfortunately didn’t survive past infancy.

Later, she gave birth to a daughter, Tang Qionghua. Back then, her parents-in-law were still alive, and her husband was under their guidance, treating her well; life was fairly decent.

However, after her parents-in-law passed away, her husband lost restraint and gradually adopted bad habits, making life increasingly difficult; it was during this ti she had a son, Tang Lingfeng.

Tang Lingfeng, this little bitter lon, hardly had enjoyable days since his birth. Despite being the only boy in the family, Tang Xiaoshan did not treat him differently; he was beaten and scolded as much as anyone else.

The departure of her daughter and the death of her son made Zhang Guixi very sad, though she never blad anyone else; she only blad the unfairness of fate and her own unfortunate life, silently bearing everything.

Her daughter looked down on this attitude, leading to frequent argunts, resulting in a poor relationship between mother and daughter.

Finally, last year, after Tang Qionghua’s arm was broken by her father, she decided to leave this family.

She had a big argunt with her mother before leaving.

Her daughter accused her of being a useless person, not knowing how to resist; she had hands and feet and could survive without her father.

She berated her for silently watching as her children were beaten and scolded, never intervening.

She chastised her ignorance, constantly siding with her father, asserting that it was her acquiescence that brought about the current state of the family, placing most of the bla on her.

...

She doesn’t accept this; how could it be her fault?

He was her husband, the man of the house; she had to listen to him, didn’t she?

Her father hit her for her good, even if he was too heavy-handed; she couldn’t be held entirely responsible.

The daughter said the only worry she had was for her little brother, which was why she hadn’t left sooner; her little brother was understanding but living in suffering at ho.

She agreed with this; her son, like her, had a life filled with misfortune.

Unfortunately, alas...

...

Though Zhang Guixi felt life was unfavorable, she never thought there was anything wrong, because many families around were similar to hers; hers wasn’t an exception.

So she thought, if others could live like this, why couldn’t she?

She thought just to endure a bit longer, and wait for her husband to co to his senses.

Just to endure a bit more, wait for her husband to grow old and frail, and then he would behave.

Just to endure a bit more, as there would be no insurmountable obstacles in life.

Just to endure a bit more, as life wouldn’t be much longer than those few decades.

Just to endure a bit more...

...

It was just a pity for her little brother, Zhang Guixi sighed with such sentint.

Ever since eting that young girl, Zhang Guixi had been sowhat absent-minded.

The young girl spoke as if she were channeling her son.

Nonetheless, he was just a child, how could he understand adult affairs?

Moreover, how could matters of her family be casually discussed outside?

Thinking about this, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of resentnt towards her son.

But soon this feeling dispersed, after all, her son was already dead.

"Alas, my unfortunate boy, may you be reborn into a good family in your next life," Zhang Guixi thought in her heart.

Zhang Guixi didn’t return ho, considering she still had items to sell and it was still early; it’d be a huge loss to go back now.

However, she found a shaded spot with fewer tourists to sit and rest for a while.

Zhang Guixi was very frugal; her food and drink were always brought from ho, and daily outings incurred no expenses beyond bus fare.

She ate a kind of flaky cake, made with thin crispy pastry wrapped around fresh coconut at ground into coconut flakes. So even had raisins and candied winter lon added, if made well, they lted in the mouth, quite delicious, a common pastry in the local old dad tea shops.

But if poorly made, it would be incredibly dry and nearly inedible.

Clearly, Zhang Guixi wasn’t eating a well-made flaky cake, as she needed water to swallow it down.

Having been out all morning, Zhang Guixi was indeed hungry. After taking the cake out of the bag, she didn’t care whether it was dry or not, biting a big mouthful, choking and rolling her eyes, hastily reaching for the nearby bottle of mineral water.

But at that mont, a small hand handed her the bottle, gently unscrewing the cap for her.

Zhang Guixi quickly grabbed it and drank from it, swallowing down the cake, then realized and looked up, seeing her son standing in front of her with a broad smile.

"Fengzai?"

Zhang Guixi first cried out in surprise, then imdiately lowered her head to look at the ground, seeing Tang Lingfeng truly had no shadow, feeling a sudden panic and a surge of fear.

"Mom," Tang Lingfeng cheerfully called, his face full of irrepressible joy.

"You... why have you co back? Do you want to take away with you? I’m sorry, my child," Zhang Guixi said with red-rimd eyes.

Tang Lingfeng paused hearing this, then said, "Mom, how could you think this way? I never blad you; it’s all Dad’s fault, if I’m to bla, I bla him."

"Don’t bla your Dad; he didn’t an it, he regretted it afterward," Zhang Guixi hastily said.

Tang Lingfeng widened his eyes in response, speaking with so agitation, "Mom, he treated you like that, and you’re still backing him; when did he regret it?"

"He... he..."

She wanted to defend her husband with a few words, but couldn’t think of any.

"He is your Dad, he gave you life, so you shouldn’t harm him; his health isn’t good, he’s of such age, barely any years left to live; please, do this for , okay?" Zhang Guixi pleaded with an anguished tone.

Tang Lingfeng stared blankly at her, though not surprised by his mother’s words, just feeling heartbroken.

"Mom, you always say this, even after he beat to death, you still say this; sister says you’re stupid, you... you..." Tang Lingfeng was both angry and despondent.

"I really don’t want to care for you anymore, I truly don’t..." Tang Lingfeng cried, sobbing sorrowfully.

"Don’t cry, please don’t cry, no matter what, Mom doesn’t need you to care for ; I’m fine, you just take care of yourself..." "Guixi hurriedly comforted her child.

Her words only made Tang Lingfeng angrier.

"I owe him nothing anymore; my life has been returned to him; I’m going to kill him, I’m going to kill him..." "Tang Lingfeng shouted at Zhang Guixi, on the brink of collapse, unable to understand why his mother always defended his father despite his cruelty.

"You must not say that."

Zhang Guixi, hearing this, widened her eyes, reached her hand out to hit him but couldn’t bring herself to do it.

With tears streaming down her face, she said, "I implore you, don’t harm your father, it’s all my fault, bla ..." Seeing her plight, Tang Lingfeng felt a suffocating anger he couldn’t express.

Finally, he let out a loud cry, dissolving into a Yin Wind, vanishing from sight.
