"Hello, I’d like to buy so clothes for a child, I see your shop is closed, could..."

"Click, beep beep beep..."

Before ng Guangyuan could finish his sentence, the person on the other end hung up abruptly, and he vaguely heard them curse, calling him crazy.

ng Guangyuan sighed, but he was not discouraged; there’s always hope.

He got on the electric scooter parked by the roadside, twisted the throttle, and continued to drive forward.

The night grew deeper, and there were hardly any pedestrians on the street. Most of the shops were already closed, with only the streetlights casting a warm yellow glow.

Not long after, he saw another small shop with a "Children’s Clothing" sign lit up. He quickly stopped his scooter, wrote down the contact number on the store’s sign, and called again.

This ti, the shop owner was patient, listened to him, but spoke with a tone full of apology: "I’m really sorry, buddy, it’s so late, I’m already ho resting. I can’t go and open the shop for you now. Please co back tomorrow."

ng Guangyuan could only hang up the phone helplessly.

Thus, ng Guangyuan contacted eleven places, but none of them were willing to open their doors for him at this hour; each had their own reasons.

Until he called the twelfth shop.

"Hello, ma’am, I’d like to buy a piece of clothing for a child. Your shop is closed, would you mind coming to open it?"

ng Guangyuan’s voice carried an urgency, and a hint of caution.

"To buy clothes for a child?" The shop owner paused for a mont, then agreed readily, "Sure, wait at the shop’s door, I’ll be right over!"

No unnecessary questions, no hesitant refusals; this sudden agreent made ng Guangyuan’s heart, which had been hanging in suspense, settle imdiately. He let out a long sigh of relief and thanked her repeatedly, "Thank you so much, it’s really a bother for you!"

About ten minutes later, a woman hurried over on an electric scooter.

"I’m sorry to bother you so late." ng Guangyuan said gratefully.

"It’s nothing, it’s all for the child," the shop owner said with a hearty laugh.

ng Guangyuan didn’t tell the owner that it was for a child about to leave this world, to wear a new set of clothes.

So, the shop owner thought he was buying clothes for his own child, just that he missed the chance during the day because he was too busy delivering food.

ng Guangyuan didn’t explain, he didn’t even tell those he called before. If he said that, it felt like moral kidnapping.

This clothing store wasn’t large; it mainly sold won’s and children’s clothing.

Because these two markets are the largest and sell the best, most small shops generally choose these two directions, and naturally, this shop was no exception.

"How old is the child?"

"How tall?"

"How much does he weigh?"

...

The shop owner asked very carefully. Only by clarifying this could she pick the most fitting clothes, to avoid the hassle of returns later. This was all based on experience.

ng Guangyuan gave a general description of the child’s situation.

The shop owner smiled and said, "Nine years old this year, huh? That’s about the sa age as my child."

As she spoke, the shop owner took a piece of clothing from the rack and handed it to ng Guangyuan.

"What do you think about this one? This piece is the latest style this year."

ng Guangyuan reached out to take it, then looked back at the rack, not knowing if it was good or bad.

He just casually asked, "Is the size right?"

"As long as the asurents you gave are correct, it must be right. If not, you can co back and exchange it tomorrow," the shop owner said with a smile.

"Alright, we’ll take this one, please pack it up for ." ng Guangyuan didn’t hesitate, he took out his phone and prepared to pay.

The shop owner was smiling as she folded the clothes, packed them in a bag, and also casually placed a toy in the bag.

"Give the child a toy as a gift."

"No need, the child can’t play with it now," ng Guangyuan said.

The shop owner paused her action upon hearing this and quietly asked, "What’s wrong with the child?"

"He’s lying in the hospital, won’t make it through the night. Before he goes, his parents wanted him to have a new set of clothes."

By this ti, ng Guangyuan had already paid and reached out to take the bag.

But as he tugged, he didn’t get it. Looking up, he saw the shop owner with a sorrowful expression.

"Ma’am, I’m in a hurry," ng Guangyuan said, then tugged again and easily took the bag this ti.

"Thank you very much," said ng Guangyuan, expressing gratitude as he hurried out of the shop.

Seeing this, the shop owner quickly followed, watching as ng Guangyuan hurried away on his scooter.

Sigh...

The shop owner let out a deep sigh.

-----------------

"What’s wrong with this little brother?"

At this ti, three little ones had already walked into the ward, surrounding the little boy’s hospital bed.

The little boy was already emaciated, with tubes all over his body, which was a bit frightening, so Dou Dou hid behind Duoduo, only peeking out a small head.

"He’s sick," Weiwei said.

"Then get the doctor to take a look," Dou Dou said.

"Dummy, this is a hospital, of course, the doctor has already seen him," Duoduo said unkindly.

Weiwei nodded, "The doctor has seen him, but the doctor can’t cure him, we can only wait for him to die."

Weiwei’s expression was a bit sad, she too had passed away from illness, and that period before passing was particularly hard.

"Then go find Potato; Potato must be able to heal him," Dou Dou said imdiately.

In her eyes, Shen Siyuan was omnipotent.

"Do you think brother is an immortal? Always going to him for everything," Duoduo said dissatisfied.

"Isn’t he?" Dou Dou scratched her head.

"Uh... seems like it, but it still won’t work," Duoduo insisted on her opinion.

"Why not?" Dou Dou was a bit dissatisfied.

In her view, if soone is sick and soone can cure them, then naturally the one who can cure should heal the sick person, the logic was just that simple.

"If brother healed him, what about the one next door, and others in the rooms, should they be healed too? There are so many sick people in this hospital, do they all need to be healed?" Duoduo said angrily.

"I don’t know them," Dou Dou said confidently.

"Then brother doesn’t know them either, if you want to heal, you heal them," Duoduo said angrily.

"But I... but I don’t know how," Dou Dou said.

Her little face showed grievance and also sadness.

"Then... then go learn, let... let brother teach you."

Seeing Dou Dou like this, Duoduo didn’t want to keep arguing with her, instead gave her suggestion.

"Oh right, when we go back, I’ll ask Potato,"

Dou Dou hit her palm with a fist, her face lighting up with joy.

"Are you talking about immortals? Have you seen an immortal?" Weiwei asked, very curious and excited.

"Of course," Duoduo and Dou Dou replied in unison.

"Where did you see the immortal? Can I see him?" Weiwei asked excitedly.

Hearing this, Dou Dou got energized, no longer hiding behind Duoduo, she stepped around her and stood in front of Weiwei.

Hands on her hips, she stood proudly and confidently.
