Xu Youliang wanted to trick Dou Dou and Duoduo into revealing their secret of becoming human, but he couldn’t just ask directly; there had to be a gradual process.

So he feigned confusion and questioned them, because the evidence of shadows was right there, even if the two little ones denied it, they couldn’t really deny it.

And based on what he knew about the two little kids, they were quite honest and wouldn’t lie or deceive.

But now, when he asked the question, unexpectedly, both of them shook their heads in unison.

"No?"

Xu Youliang’s voice rose significantly, feeling a sense of anger from being deceived.

He liked deceiving people but didn’t like being deceived by others.

"But you clearly have shadows."

"It’s not only humans who have shadows," Duoduo said.

But she still caught the odd tone in Xu Youliang’s voice and stared at him intently.

Xu Youliang, worried that they might see through him, forced a smile and asked, "Then what is it?"

His smile was awkward; Dou Dou could tell sothing was off.

The little ones are quite sensitive; they can distinguish between genuine smiles and fake ones.

For instance, Tang Tang’s smile is silly, but each one is genuinely joyful, and being around her is contagious.

Yet Xu Youliang’s skin-deep smile didn’t convey any happiness, which was obviously suspicious.

So Dou Dou stared at him suspiciously but still answered Xu Youliang.

"Because we are gods?"

"Gods?" Xu Youliang’s voice escalated again in surprise as he looked up and down at them.

You’re telling these two adorable little girls are gods; if you’re going to lie, at least make up a better story, okay?

Wait, he suddenly recalled that these little ones don’t seem like the lying type.

So he tentatively asked, "Are you really gods?"

Dou Dou and Duoduo nodded in unison, moving in harmony, which was quite cute.

"Then what kind of gods are you?"

"I’m the Right Hand Holding Scroll Man and Guiding Child," Duoduo said.

"I’m... I’m the Left Side Only Seeing Wolf, also General Dou," Dou Dou said proudly.

He believed Duoduo’s words about fifty percent, but Dou Dou’s words sounded like a child’s fabrication; her being a Great General seed laughable.

Of course, Xu Youliang wouldn’t voice these thoughts out loud.

Instead, he directly asked, "How can I beco like you?"

Xu Youliang was a smooth talker; he didn’t directly ask how to beco a god—that would be too blunt—even though they were just two little children, he subtly expressed his desire to be like them.

Such words not only didn’t sound too greedy but also seed to create a sense of closeness.

Sure enough, the two little ones didn’t think much of it, so Dou Dou said, "You have to ask Potato brother first."

"This brother again?" Xu Youliang muttered to himself.

So he persisted and continued to ask, "Only your brother has this ability? No other way?"

His words made Duoduo a bit cautious because few people had ever asked them about this.

Besides, Sister Xiao Yue had previously told them that anyone who keeps probing about this matter is likely not a good person.

"I don’t know."

Dou Dou scratched her chubby little chin, revealing a thoughtful expression but unable to think of an answer.

Just as Xu Youliang was about to ask more, Duoduo pulled Dou Dou aside.

"Let’s go find Xu Xiangyang and tell him this good news."

"Oh, right right." Dou Dou, interrupted, imdiately forgot about the matter she was pondering.

"Let’s go." Duoduo transford into ghost form, rode the Yin Wind, and soared into the sky.

Seeing this, Dou Dou panicked and rushed to catch up.

"Wait for ," she cried sweetly.

Xu Youliang: ...

"Ah, hey..." He shouted from the ground, but nobody listened.

Xu Xiangyang’s mom hurried into the elevator with her daughter.

Xu Xiangyang’s sister was obedient and didn’t speak; she had suffered along with her mom and knew well how to show concern for her.

Her young son, cradled in her arms, was not fussy; he clung to her neck, resting on her shoulder, appearing very well-behaved.

Since it was a new community and managent was still lax, the elevator was plastered with ads, making it look dirty and ssy.

But for Xu Xiangyang’s mom, this was already a very good living environnt; she loved the place she lived now, she loved this ho.

In the elevator, Xu Xiangyang’s mom stared at an ad on the elevator door, but her gaze wasn’t really focused.

"Mom, we’re here." Her daughter prompted her to co back to reality.

Their community was not high-end, just a regular two-unit four-household setup, with two households on each side.

Upon exiting the elevator, she saw a little girl standing in the hallway of their two households.

She was slightly surprised, thinking it was a neighbor’s child, but quickly recalled the neighbors were an elderly couple who wouldn’t have a child.

It might be a relative, so she casually asked, "Are you from next door? They’re out right now, no one’s ho."

The little girl was Xiao Yue; she shook her head and said, "No, I’ve co for you."

"For ? You are?" Xu Xiangyang’s mom was puzzled.

"You’re Xu Xiangyang’s mom, right?" Xiao Yue said.

"Oh? Yes." Xu Xiangyang’s mom was surprised; what’s going on today with everyone looking for her?

"You’re a friend of my son’s too?" Xu Xiangyang’s mom asked further.

Xiao Yue thought for a mont and nodded slightly.
