Chapter 388: The Herald?

’Parents should lead as example... yea what bullshit was that?’ Lucy thought as she currently sat in a eting of war.

After ascending to the status of Goddess, she left her realm behind.

At first, she assud she’d need so extra ti to get used to her newfound power, but to her surprise, everything ca naturally.

The mont word got out that her seclusion was over, she was promptly summoned to et with the Leaders of the Eternal Sins and the Ancestors.

Yet now, sitting through it all, her earlier thoughts seed irrelevant.

She had initially thought it would be great to show off her strength to Aurora —you know, make a solid first impression and all — but that notion faded fast.

After all, what kind of power could she possibly display that would impress soone whose father was Ash?

And then there was the bond with him... it was such a surreal experience.

For soone so accustod to others being bonded to her, it felt strange at first.

Yet, the longer the bond remained, the more she found herself wanting to be with him rather than bothering with whatever business the Sins were wrapped up in.

----

The grand chamber of the Sin Tower was alive with tension.

There were seven towering thrones — each carved from a different sin-material — ford a semicircle around a central obsidian table.

Pride’s throne glead with blinding white marble, Wrath’s burned in deep red.

Lust’s was a soft, sultry pink, while Greed’s shone a solid, unyielding green. Envy’s was a venomous shade of purple, and Gluttony’s lood bloated and black.

Despair’s was a dull gray stone, as if it absorbed every bit of light nearby. Lucy sat at the center, her throne a seamless blend of all seven materials, its colors shifting in perfect harmony.

One of the Ancestors, a massive figure of living wrath, leaned in and broke her out of her thoughts.

"Everything rides on you, Lucy," he rumbled. "The Dark Phoenixes have gotten too comfortable as of late. And you as the herald, it’s ti for their false reign to crumble"

The other leaders and ancestors leaned in, eyes hungry, greedy, envious.

For what felt like the umpteenth ti, they reached out with their senses—probing, reading, trying to gauge the depth of her newfound rank.

Yet, just as every ti since she had arrived at the eting, and like every other Originat, they sensed nothing.

Still, there was no trace of wariness among them.

The Ancestor of Pride let out a sharp, disbelieving laugh.

"She has transcended even us. Such power... truly herald-like. A true queen of sins."

The chamber burst to life.

Laughter, praise, applause, cheers— every Sin in the room seed to revel in her so-called rise.

Through it all, Lucy sat quietly, scoffing to herself.

’Tsk... transcended you? That’s putting it mildly... besides I’m not even thinking about you geezers right now.’

As the thought crossed her mind, her gaze drifted toward the entrance, and a slow smile began to form on her lips.

Why?

Because she could sense them approaching — not the Dark Phoenix or any kind of threat, but the only other Goddesses in this heaven.

Ash and the others had never bothered to hide their power; since no one else could sense it, they simply didn’t see the need.

But among themselves, they could always feel the overwhelming presence of one another.

In less than a heartbeat, Aurora, Isis, Xeros, and Xeros’ four wives simply appeared through the walls atop Aurora’s massive white bird.

At the sight of them, she rose from her throne.

The sudden arrival of strangers with unfamiliar faces — two of whom radiated power levels seemingly beyond comprehension — put the leaders and ancestors instantly on guard.

Yet, when they saw the Herald move for the first ti, their tension eased, realizing this was the perfect opportunity to witness a glimpse of her strength.

The thought alone brought smiles to their faces.

Aurora and Isis fixed their eyes on her imdiately, both feeling the waves of divinity rolling off her.

Isis blinked, confused, and looked at Aurora.

But she herself looked just as confused.

Lucy took a single step and appeared in the air, not far from the bird.

In that mont, she summoned the Records of Eternity, and Isis nearly attacked at the sight.

But Aurora placed a hand on her shoulder. "Wait..." she said, scanning Lucy.

When the information appeared, she muttered, "No... way," making Lucy laugh.

"Fufufu~ Yes way, my darling," Lucy teased as she flipped to a page showing a live scene of a dragon in humanoid form, chained in a serene-looking realm.

With a wave of her hand, the Dragon Progenitor, Tiamat, appeared in Isis’s arms.

"You ca for her, right?" Lucy asked, watching Isis, who still seed troubled. "Well... I no longer have any use for her..."

They had arrived fully expecting a fight. Isis, ever the overly cautious dragon, had even gone so far as to offer tips to the Dark Phoenixes, just in case she didn’t manage to obliterate everyone.

And yet, here they were—faced with the woman everyone called the Herald—who simply surrendered without so much as a struggle.

Xero shook his head, unable to keep up with the bizarre turn of events.

"Things just keep getting weirder and weirder around you guys," he muttered.

Just like Isis, he was more than ready to take down so Sins.

Lucy only shrugged. "Bla your father... now let’s go!" she said, waving her hand as the entire group vanished.

The whole ti, every Sin had been watching the spectacle in utter shock. Before they could even shake themselves from their daze—

BOOOOOM!

BOOOOOM!!!

BOOOOM!!!!

A torrential downpour of black fireballs began raining across their entire domain.

The sky above the Sin Tower — once a swirling vortex of corruption — was now blotted out by wings.

Thousands upon thousands of Dark Phoenixes descended in perfect formation, their feathers blazing with void-black fla that devoured every color of sin it touched.

"She... she left us..." One of the normal Eternal Sins muttered.

"No... this... it’s BETRAYAL!"
