Upon hearing this, Li Qingxue froze for a mont before fixing Hu Yuying with a serious gaze. "What did you say? You two aren’t...?"

Hu Yuying knew exactly what Li Qingxue was implying and sighed awkwardly. "We really aren’t. Why do you think that too?"

Li Qingxue’s stunned expression wasn’t feigned—she was genuinely shocked.

After all, she had personally witnessed just how well Long Aotian treated Hu Yuying...

Noticing Li Qingxue’s disbelief, Hu Yuying couldn’t help but laugh, though a hint of lancholy soon crept in.

She didn’t know what Long Aotian was thinking, but she understood her own heart perfectly.

Li Qingxue shook her head slightly, watching Hu Yuying’s subdued expression, and felt an odd, fleeting flicker of secret delight.

It was like... an indescribable sensation...

"Let’s just head to campus first," Li Qingxue suggested. Since she and Yuying attended the sa university, there’d be plenty of ti to figure things out later.

"Mhm." Hu Yuying took a deep breath, steadied her emotions, and nodded.

---

At the entrance of University A.

The arrival of Li Qingxue and Hu Yuying naturally drew plenty of attention.

College life was a paradox—relaxed yet intense. But whether in high school or university, gossip about campus heartthrobs never lost its appeal.

And when it ca to Li Qingxue and Hu Yuying, their looks alone, regardless of personality, easily earned them the title of "goddesses."

As they reached the orientation area, a swarm of upperclassn eagerly approached them.

Hu Yuying had grown bolder since the past—no longer shrinking under stares—but she still avoided initiating conversations with guys.

Aside from Long Aotian, she’d been burned too many tis: reject their confessions, and they’d turn on her. Better to just keep her distance from the start.

Li Qingxue, however, confidently took Hu Yuying’s hand and smiled politely at the eager upperclassn. "No need, seniors. I already know where the registration and enrollnt offices are."

Having arrived earlier, she’d been through this before. She wasn’t immune to their tactics, but she also knew how to decline gracefully.

Afterward, she led Hu Yuying straight to registration.

Once all the paperwork was settled, the two headed toward the dormitories.

University A looked massive in photos, but walking through it in person still left them gawking at every turn.

It took forever to reach their dorms.

Li Qingxue’s dorm was in Building 6, while Hu Yuying’s was in Building 12—facing each other across a glass-covered skywalk.

"I’ve already unpacked, so go ahead and settle in. Let’s et here afterward and explore together," Li Qingxue said cheerfully.

"Okay." Hu Yuying was eager to get settled too—so she could hurry off and find Long Aotian.

---

Since it was the last day of registration, Hu Yuying could hear lively chatter from inside her dorm before even opening the door.

She took a deep breath, replaying Long Aotian’s advice in her mind.

Then she pushed the door open, offering a soft smile. "Hi, I’m Hu Yuying."

---

anwhile, in another dorm...

"Dude, did you get into University T on a sports scholarship?" One of Long Aotian’s roommates blurted out, eyeing his muscular fra.

"Oh, right—I’m Xu Shuai, from Xishan."

Xu Shuai had dark skin, slightly thick lips, and the easygoing charm of a natural extrovert.

"Long Aotian, from Haibei," he replied with a grin.

"Whoa, what a coincidence! I’m Li Longlong—both our nas have ‘Long’ in them! I’m from Nanhe," chid in another roommate, a lanky guy whose thinness made his smile crinkle with extra folds.

Ahem. The last roommate cleared his throat dramatically, waiting until all eyes were on him before standing up with practiced confidence.

"Huang Fei, from Qianzhen." He adjusted his designer T-shirt as he spoke.

It was a bit showy, but not in an obnoxious way—his willingness to stand and introduce himself properly made that clear.

Long Aotian wasn’t the silent type either, and within minutes, he’d blended seamlessly into the group.

Once they’d unpacked, the four gathered to chat.

At first, everyone was on their best behavior, still feeling each other out.

But the conversation quickly swelled with lofty ambitions—grand, sweeping dreams that made University A seem beneath them. They should’ve been on the national stage already, changing the world.

So when did the tone shift?

Probably when soone offhandedly remarked, "Those senior girls welcoming the freshn today were sothing else—especially their figures."

And just like that, the discussion took a nosedive into uncharted territory.

Mid-laugh, Huang Fei suddenly let out a sigh.

A sudden sigh drew everyone’s attention toward him.

Xu Shuai asked, “What’s up with the sighing?” ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ novèlfire

Huang Fei suddenly chuckled. “Nothing, just suddenly feeling nostalgic about the girlfriend—well, girlfriends—I had back in high school.” He deliberately emphasized the plural.

“Back then, I was the type to ‘flit through a garden of flowers without a single petal sticking.’ Honestly, it wasn’t all that. It’s like sleeping on a pile of cash every night—sooner or later, you’d get sick of it. Truth be told, being single now is way better.”

He sighed again, then seed to rember sothing and added, “What about you guys? Don’t tell none of you have ever been in a relationship?”

Xu Shuai imdiately waved his hand dismissively. “As if! Don’t let my looks fool you—you might not believe if I told you.”

His expression turned unusually solemn as he continued, “I actually had soone chasing after back then. But, as you just heard about my dream, I didn’t hesitate for a second—I broke it off right away. No woman’s gonna slow down my backhand swing!”

Hearing this, Li Longlong’s face also darkened with seriousness. He stood up, tilted his head at a 45-degree angle, and slowly turned to face away from everyone. “I’ve always been reluctant to bring this up…”

“But what can I do? ‘A thousand rivers flow, yet I take but one sip.’ Even though they all pursued madly, adored beyond reason, not a single one ever made my heart skip a beat.”

“I’m not the type to settle. So even though I’ve never been in a relationship, I’ve rejected every single person who ever tried to get with !”

After he finished, all three of them turned their gazes toward Long Aotian.

Under their collective stare, Long Aotian could only laugh helplessly. “I might be the only one in this dorm who’s never been in a relationship.”

Hearing this, the other three offered words of consolation, but the corners of their mouths twitched upward uncontrollably, as if to say, Nice. Our dorm hierarchy is officially locked in.

Huang Fei was the most delighted of all. In terms of looks, he only saw Long Aotian as real competition—the other two weren’t even on his radar.

“Ahem. Don’t lose heart, Lao Ao. You’re handso, you’ve got a great build—you just missed your chances or never learned how to chase girls.”

“But don’t worry. I’ll teach you a couple of moves. Guaranteed, you’ll get your shot at love soday.”
