Lucius POV

I turned to Emilia and gave her a sign to leave.

She wanted to protest but when she t my gaze, she rolled her eyes and left us. Now it was just , two Selenes and Jade.

"Well, well," Jared drawled. "if it isn’t the loyal lapdog, co to rescue his mistress. I was just telling Jade that the possibility of you showing up here was high and she was doubting and I am right. The most loyal, selfless Beta ever – I wonder what these people pay you because they do not deserve you one bit. You’re the gift that keeps giving,".

"I’m not here to banter words with you," I told him quietly "We’re not friends, we never were and will never be... so I don’t take advice from people who are not qualified enough to be my enemy or my friend. Just let her go and this ends now. I promise I’ll take just the Luna and leave quietly,".

"I know you’ll do that," Jared nodded and began to remove the tape around Selene’s mouth. My gaze darted to Jade again and I didn’t know if this was the Fox that was sent to deceive Jared but we made no ntion of using another Selene... so it was all confusing for .

I looked at both Selenes – one of them was literally fidgeting on her seat, tears in her eyes. Even without speaking, I could tell she was begging with her eyes. While the other one was quiet.

Jade removed the tape around her own Selene and imdiately she started pleading.

"Where is Noah? She says if he’s not here she would kill and my pup. Please, you have to call Noah... she won’t hurt him, I promise. Please," she sobbed.

My gaze flitted to the other Selene whose gaze and mine t... she was quiet and seed collected.

Jared laughed, the sound echoing off the tal walls. "You heard her, dog, do as she said or else I’ll do what I have in mind. You see, I have big plans for dear Selene here and for that weakling, you call a king,".

"Noah is twice the Alpha you’ll ever be," Jade’s Selene spat, struggling against her bonds.

Jade’s hand shot out, gripping Selene’s throat. "Quiet, you little weasel or else I’ll cut off your tongue,".

Then she turned to , a quiet smile on her face. "I’ve heard so much about you, Beta Lucius. Jared was full of your praise and I thought he was bluffing when he said you were going to co but here are you. This is what’s going to happen... I know you have Noah on the other side of your earpiece and I want you to tell him to co here right now or else ..." she paused and clapped both of her hands.

From the shadow, ca out five other Selene held by either a Jared or a Jade. A small smile settled on my lips as I scanned the room. I had underestimated Jared but this is genius.

"Don’t try to do anything stupid, Lucius... because one of us here is holding the real Selene and if we as much as you try to throw a wild punch, you’ll be surprised at what I’ll do. I’m not Jared – I am a Lycan and I can tear you apart in minutes plus your beloved mistress,".

"I believe we’ve not t and introduced each other properly, Jade," I scoffed enjoying the surprise that flashed in her eyes when I called her without her title. "I would have especially since I have heard a lot of things about you and your kingdom but with what is going on now, I don’t think you deserve to be a princess,".

"Like I care!" she drawled. "Suit yourself,".

A faint scratch reached my ears and I smiled inwardly. I had sent Emilia to go get my shadows surround us as we were speaking and the faint scratch was an indication. The Selene Jade was holding was too chaotic to be the Selene I know. Selene will not cry like a child in situations like this.

I also know she won’t beg aimlessly, especially after Kurtis had disclosed to what she intends to do. More than anything, she’ll remain calm and try to think of a way out. The other Selenes the rest of the n were holding were sobbing too, so quietly and others loudly. Steeling myself, I readied myself and my wolf slowly tapping my feet three tis on the ground.

What happened next happened in a flash. I jumped at Jared, catching him by surprise as I knocked him to the ground while the shadow that had co up behind , grabbed, Selene. The other shadows reached for the rest of the n and with the swiftness of light ran their knives around their necks and their Selenes.

I and Jared were locked in a fight. Jared was strong and cunning after all he had Alpha blood in him but I was fighting with the desperate fury of one protecting not just my Luna, but my entire pack. Slowly, I gained the upper hand by switching between my wolf and my human form.

Finally, with a powerful kick, I sent Jared crashing into a stack of old crates. He didn’t get up. Panting heavily, I rushed to Selene’s side. She was with one of the soldiers I had co with. "Are you alright?’ I asked, my eyes scanning her for injuries.

She threw her hands around my neck and burst into tears. "I’m fine, Lucius. Thank you... Thank you so much. For a mont, I thought that was going to be my end and my baby. Thank you,".

"You don’t have to thank Selene... I will always protect you no matter what," I said with a smile before turning to my team. The rest of the fake Selene had turned back to their original dead fox form. Jade had been captured and put to sleep. Even Jared too.

I instructed the n to keep them in a cage and make sure they remained unconscious until we got to Moon Whisper. They went about doing everything I had told them, I helped Selene to her feet as we started out of the old warehouse.

We arrived at the other end of the building where a doctor was waiting to check her. As I deposited her and turned to leave, Noah’s voice ca into my ears urgently. I had asked the soldiers to turn on the communication signal.

"What’s the update, Lucius?" he asked imdiately his voice ca on.

"I have the Luna with , Your Majesty. The doctor is checking her to see if there are complications and I have Alpha Jared and Princess Jade in my custody. They’ve been sedated and we’ll bring them with us. As soon as the doctors confirm she’s alright, we’ll start coming back to Moon Whisper,".

"I just spoke with Alpha Kurtis a few monts ago Princess Jade wasn’t at the other end of the tunnel, so they’re heading towards your direction. It’s quite late, Lucius. You should stay there tonight and set out as early as tomorrow,".

"When Alpha Kurtis arrives, we’ll determine that, your Majesty," I said instead. "We don’t know what’s out here. Returning to Moon Whisper is the safest option for now,".

"Fine, just let know!" Noah agreed and the call went off. Sighing, I walked back to the old warehouse to see if I could find traces of anything we could use. I was so focused on it that I didn’t notice Emilia had sidled up behind . It wasn’t until her arms were wrapped around my body that I turned.

"Relax, Lucius!" she giggled, pressing deeper into my back. I could feel her bare breasts splaying on my back and imdiately, the lower part of my body shifted. Clearing my throat, I tried to pry her hands away but she held on tightly.

"Soone might walk in and see us, Emilia," I queried "Behave!".

"They’re all busy trying to gather woods in case we have to stay here tonight and so of them have manned the periter of the building... it’s so nice to work with soldiers that do things without being told," she sighed.

"It’s all thanks to Alpha Kurtis. Noah was wise to entrust his soldiers under his care. He did the sa things with our soldiers in Greyhound and now they’re the best in the region,".

"I see!" she murmured running her hands up and down my chest. Without warning, she suddenly grabbed my erect mber and giggled. "All this fighting and blood has made horny, Beta Lucius. Please quench that thirst,".

"We cannot!" I said weakly "Soone might...".

The words were barely out of my mouth when she suddenly skittled to my front and captured my lips with her mouth. Her hands reached for my fly at the sa ti. I moaned into her mouth losing control.
