Selene POV

After Noah left the room, I crumbled to the ground and began to sob.

It was happening again. I was losing control of my life just like I had before, and it bothered so much.

A knock sounded on the door and hurriedly, I cleaned the worst of my dears, hoping it was not the girls. I couldn’t stand for them to watch like this. I rose to my feet and smoothened my rumpled gown.

"Co in," I shouted.

The door opened and Lucius peeked his head inside the room. Our gazes t and held.

"Lucius," he was the last person I was expecting.

"Hurry, we don’t have ti," he said, throwing the door open while peering at the corridor. "We have to be fast before anyone notices,".

"Okay," I hurried towards him and together, we navigated the dark corridors of the pack house until we burst out at the back of the house.

I stopped to catch my breath and also turned to Lucius for an explanation. "Where are we going to? Why are you in so much hurry?"

"The Lycan King and Xavier would be visiting the prison with the foxes in it to question them. I overhead the Lycan saying they’ll be induced to say the truth and we all know that they’re going to say. We need to prevent that,".

I stared at him for a mont, trying to understand what it was he was doing. A few days ago, he had been begging to make up with Xavier but to think that he wanted to keep my children hidden and my identity hidden worried so much. What did he have in mind?

"Why are you doing this, Lucius?" I stare at him. "Xavier trusts you so much, and he’ll believe anything you tell him. Why haven’t you told him about yet?"

"Because I want both of you to find your lost love, but let him hear it from your mouth directly. Third party sses things up, Selene, and no matter what, I wouldn’t want that for you,".

"But it’s abortive no matter how much I think about it. He’s still going to hate . It’s our fate,".

"But a lot of things have changed recently, don’t you think? And to say the truth, the prophecy lacks potency to these days. It said that both of you won’t be able to survive a day without each other, but it’s been three years now. If there’s anything I know about the passage of ti is that a lot of things can change,".

"You think it’ll work for and Xavier?" My brows scrunched with doubts.

"It’s already working," Lucius said quietly. "Anyways, let’s hurry. It takes about 10 minutes for the new guards to replace the old shifts. It’s more than enough ti for us,".

"Enough ti?’ to do what?" I asked, walking briskly beside him.

"To kill the foxes,".

"What!" I exclaid as my steps faltered. "You’re taking with you to kill people? Why?"

"There’s no other way, Selene. We have to act now. If the Lycan King and Xavier get to them first, it’ll be ssier than you can ever think. This isn’t the way Xavier should find out about you," Lucius urged.

My eyes flickered with a mix of apprehension and regret as I stared behind , hoping soone would show up at this mont. And also regretted why I hadn’t asked for the details from Lucius before going with him.

"The idea of bloodshed is against every principle I hold dear. I’m sorry, Lucius, but I can’t be a part of this,".

I watched as his jaws clenched as he ran a hand through his tousled hair. He takes a step closer to , his gaze locking onto mine.

"Listen to , Selene. If we don’t stop them, then your entire world will crumble. If Xavier should know that you’ve been alive all this while, the council will not hesitate to ask you to hand your children over to him. All these years would be for nothing. Is that what you want?"

The thought of losing my children made my heart palpitate with fear.

"There has to be another way, Lucious. I can’t just... I can’t be a part of this violence,".

Lucius exhaled, as his eyes searched mine. "I am not asking you to kill them. I’ll do that and it’ll be painless and quick, but I need you to be there so they can confess the reason they had co. Is it too hard for you to do?"

"What if soone catches us?"

"The more ti will waste, the more ti we put ourselves at risk. We should have finished up by now. C’mon, let’s go," he urged again.

Reluctantly, I allowed myself to be towed away until we got to the holding cell. Everywhere had a strong sll of garlic. Passing a mask, Lucius and I strapped on before he unlocked the cell. The foxes were lying now, almost unconscious at the first cell we saw.

Lucius used his signet ring to hit on the iron bars of the prison, rousing the n. Their eyes fluttered around weakly until finally, they fixed on us. Recognition entered the eyes of the man who had seed like their leader that day.

"You’re here," he said weakly. "I presu you’re here to make a deal and I’m willing else I’ll spill everything I know,".

My hands trembled beside as I clutched at my dress. "What things do you know about ?" I tried to sound calm.

"For one, you’re Xavier’s Luna and ran away just to be with the Lycan King. You left your husband, your pack and your duties and don’t get started with your cursed children..." the man howled but entered into a spasm of coughing that lasted for more than a minute.

"Your children are blue-eyed wolves... babies born with their wolves are a curse to any wolf clan. Wait until the Lycan King finds out...," he wheezed. He’ll kill you and kill your children without remorse. Don’t think riding his dick would save you. Also, the council will have you..."

"That’s enough," Lucius interrupted him from the side. "You deserve what is coming to you,".

Then he turned to and asked to wait for him outside of the prison. I hurried out, as my heart began to pound in fright. Five minutes passed and there was no sign of Lucius. Just as I was about to go back in and look for him, he ca out.

"Sorry, that took so long," he said, cleaning his hands on his sleeves. "Let’s go,".

"Well, well, well," a shrill, woman’s voice erged from the corners of the prison clapping her hands "What are the chances of witnessing a murder every day of your life by a Luna and Beta....".

It was Belinda.
