Selene POV
My heart was thumping wildly in my chest as I sat in my car waiting for Jones to show up. At that mont, I didn’t know what to think, I didn’t know if this was bait or if this was true. I needed to call soone.
My hands trembled as I reached for my phone. The first number I saw was Kurtis. Without hesitating, I dialled his number.
"Hello!" he said groggily "This better be good, Selene, I had a rough night and I intend to sleep in today,".
"It’s Noah!" tears gathered in my eyes "He was in an accident and they won’t let see him. I t a man in front of the pack hospital who had his phone, he said he saw everything and that Noah’s accident wasn’t ordinary. I don’t know what to believe...".
"Shit!" I heard Kurtis murmur as his voice beca clearer "Where are you now?"
"A little while away from the hospital. I’m waiting for the man who has Noah’s phone to bring it to . He says he doesn’t want anyone to see us and...".
"It’s a trap, Selene," Kurtis said urgently "Listen to and I want you to do everything I tell you until the last. Start your car now and drive to the nearest public place... the school, the market or anywhere where there are people. I’ll co to et you there. Under no circumstance should you drive back to the pack house, okay?"
"Oh!" my breaths were coming in short spasms "Okay!" I managed and turn on the ignition, driving as fast as I could. Just as I rounded the bend, from the side mirror, I picked up a black jeep driving at full speed towards . "Kurtis, there’s a car following ," I cried "It’s coming at full speed and I don’t know what to do,".
"You’ll be fine, Selene," Kurtis said calmly "I’m coming towards you and I already have my n in front in case they try to take you but they won’t. Just make sure that the car driving behind you doesn’t overtake. You can stall, drive as crazy as you want but do not allow it to overtake you, okay?"
"Yeah," I replied, driving as fast as I could "I think there’s a market just by the corner. I’ll stop there and go inside the supermarket,".
"Yeah!" Kurtis agreed but make sure you remain hidden. Hide at the aisle or anything, make sure no one sees you, I’ll be there soonest, okay? And keep the call, I want to know that you’re fine,".
"Okay!" I murmured, feeling adrenaline pump into every part of my body. As soon as I got to the parking lot of the supermarket, I parked and got out of the car. Without drawing suspicions to myself, I started for the entrance, walking as briskly yet discreetly as I could at that mont. As I slipped into the supermarket, the black jeep pulled into the parking lot. I walked towards the first aisle, just by the door.
They wouldn’t think I would be there. I walked to the end of the aisle, wedging myself between the last shelf and the second shelf, making it impossible for soone to see if they were looking from both sides of the shelf.
"I’m here, Selene," Kurtis’s voice bood suddenly in my ear. There’s a huge man with a black coat and blond hair. He’s looking around the supermarket and he appears to be alone.
"That’s Jones," my breath caught in my throat "He’s the guy I told you about,".
"Alright, co towards the cash point, I want him to see you. I’ll follow you from behind, okay?"
"Okay!" I nodded.
I took a deep breath and started towards the cash point, feeling every pulse in my body. My heart was pounding so hard that I could almost hear it. As I ca out and started towards the cash point, from the corner of my eyes, I saw Jones pause and then sprint towards lightly. I also saw Kurtis in one corner, opening the fridge and acting like he was browsing through the items in it.
"Luna!" Jones whispered as soon as he ca closer "I’m sorry I delayed and when I tried to co to you, I saw you driving away with such speed, I was so worried," he said.
"It was you in the black jeep?" I asked staring at him suspiciously.
"Yes," he nodded "I waited for an hour just like your said and walked towards my car, acting like I was just another regular person before driving away. All the while, I noticed that soone had their eyes on from the window of one of the rooms. If you have ti, c’mon, I need to show you sothing,".
"Okay!" I nodded, my gaze flitting to Kurtis who nodded a sign that I should go with him. I followed him out of the supermarket, towards the parking lot insisting that we use my car, as soon as we entered, he pulled out what seed to be his phone and opened it.
"I want you to brace yourself for the worst, Luna... the video is a bit disturbing but I knew when I saw them this morning that sothing was off,".
He played the video for and I gasped when the contents ca to . Even though the audio wasn’t clear, it was evident that Noah’s accident was a deliberate act and the people I saw in the video, made speechless.
"I don’t know what you’re going through at the pack house, Luna and I hope I was able to help because I heard one of them talking about deposing you now that they had the King out of the way on the grounds of bareness. I didn’t get a chance to get that on video since it was almost daylight and their eyes were roaming around as they spoke but I could tell it was a woman’s voice,".
"Thank you so much, Jones," I smiled "I’m not sure I would have been able to do all of these without your help. By the way, can I have the King’s phone now and also can you send the video you showed a while ago?"
"Yes, sure thing," he brought out the phone and handed it to . "I think the King was eting up with soone around that area. He ca out of his car for a few minutes and walked up and down for a bit before he went back in and the vehicle crashed into him from behind. That was no re coincidence, I’m a hundred per cent sure of that,".
"Yeah!" I nodded "I’ll take it from here, Jones and you should go sowhere safe in the anti, I just need your number and I promise to call you if anything cos to us, okay?"
"Sure thing, your majesty," he smiled. "I’ll be off then, see you later and be careful,".
I nodded and watched as he slipped out of the car and drove off imdiately. A few minutes later, the front door of my car opened and Kurtis slipped in. "What’s up? What did he want?"
"He didn’t an any harm, Kurtis," I opened my phone and showed him the video Jones had taken watching him closely. Kurtis’s eyes widened with shock at the video then he turned and looked at .
"Why? Why would they do that to him? Who would even dare touch Noah?"
"His family," a tear slipped down my cheek "His father did say that he wanted to replace him and that Noah wasn’t fit to be a king. Do you know the craziest thing in all of this, I didn’t know. I went to the hospital and found out that they’d been there already and soone signed in Noah for surgery without my permission. When I tried to protest, I was told to go ho and run the pack,".
"This is too much to handle, Selene but I need you to be on guard. I don’t know what has been planned but you need to hurry to the pack house now and pick a few of your clothes and important things that you cannot do away. Keep them with just in case you have to leave in a hurry. Okay?"
"Yeah!" I nodded sniffing back tears "I’m terrified, Kurtis. They didn’t want to see him and I just have a feeling that he might be dead. That’s the only reason I could think of but the Grand Lycan said he was fine and was in the theatre room when I arrived,".
"I’ll look into it, Selene but for now, you need to go back to the pack house, pretend as if you know nothing and still prepare for the worst. I don’t know but if this is what I think it is, then we are going against tough forces, so brace yourself and you might want to call Xavier too. He might know what is going on,".
"Really? I’ll call him later. Once I get ho and get a good rest, I will. Also," I swallowed hard as my hand rested protectively on my stomach "There’s sothing I’d like to tell you but promise you won’t be alard,".
