"Your mistress?" Jared’s eyes widened with surprise followed by a short laugh "My bad man. I never would have guessed but I thought you got back with your mate or sothing,".
"No!" I shook my head giving him a asured smile "Belinda was the one who broke up my family. When I was still married to my mate, she was my mistress and after my mate left I was determined to marry her but sohow, we learnt of sothing shocking today and we must deal with it. Cold beads of sweat ford on his forehead as he shifted his weight from one foot to another. He was trying to catch Belinda’s eyes but her gaze was downwards and she didn’t seem to want to look up at all.
"I can understand," he said "But what could she have done that is so grievous. Did she steal or anything?"
"Like we ntioned earlier Alpha," Lucius chirped in "It’s really none of your business. We appreciate your concern but we’re good. We’ll handle the matter. Is there sothing else you wanted?"
"No!" he shook his head giving us a strained smile "We’ll leave first," he muttered and fled the room.
As soon as he left I had confird the he was no longer around, I turned to Lucius after Theo had taken the culprit back to the holding cell. "Was it your idea to bring out Belinda? I’ve never seen Jared so rattled. Of all the Alphas in the East region, he’s the coldest. So, seeing him being disoriented at the side of Belinda ans our suspicions are true,".
"It was Kragen’s idea," Lucius finally said. "While we went to see Belinda, he told that Belinda wouldn’t have worked on her own and would not even do it unless she’s left with no choice at all. He also said that Witches are docile when they’re not aware of the extent of what harm their powers can cost. So, he told that Jared would visit the pack house very soon to co search and when he does, we should arraign Belinda in front of him,".
"Won’t it only rile Jared up or provoke him to do whatever he pleases? You saw he was ready to make us hand Belinda over to him. It ans she’s an important person in his life and...".
"He doesn’t want her to expose any of his secrets because she knows a lot," Lucius finished "Anyways, that should be least of our concern. Our main concern now should be Jared’s real intentions and Belinda is yet to confess to us about that but she did say that Jared was the one who asked her to go make friends with all the Alpha’s in each pack, make friends with them and report back to him on whatever was going on in every pack,".
My heart sank as the implication beca clearer. "W-what are you talking about?"
"It ans she was not only sleeping with you, Xavier," Lucius sighed "She was sleeping with you and all the Alphas. You rember all those sudden trips she’d make with very stupid excuses... that’s exactly when she was eting them. Back then, she was young and innocent so no one could have suspected or we were all under a spell,".
"It’s not possible," I shook my head trying to convince myself that it was not real "She was always in the pack, when did she find the ti to be eting up with Jared? How could she even do that to ? I gave Belinda every love I should have given Selene. At one point, I thought I liked her so much and told myself I’d be able to do anything for her but this..." "Oh please!" Lucius eyes glinted with amusent "You’re feeling betrayed for cheating? That’s what happen when you cheat on your mate. Were you expecting that she’d be faithful to you?" he chortled "Please... she has tried hitting on several tis and I’m sure if you were to conduct research in the pack, she has hit on at least everyone who works in the pack house. "So... what am I supposed to do now?" I asked trying to suppress the anger I felt. It was as if I’ve been jinxed and just got my freedom now. "I suppose the so-called god didn’t tell you what we are supposed to do,".
"Don’t be disrespectful, Xavier," Lucius sighed rolling his eyes "But he told us to keep the girl until he cos back,".
"What if Jared tries to attack or sothing? Don’t you think by showing him that the girl is with us could an a lot of trouble. He could try to make a play for her or worse still...".
"Jared is not stupid, Xavier. He would question why we made him see that she was with us and try to work carefully. Maybe he might attempt a murder but Kragen took care of it so we don’t have to worry. Now, we have a more pressing issue at hand,".
I wanted to retort at Lucius’s final statent about Kragen but I decided against it. There was a lot of sense in everything Lucius has said so far. "What is it this ti around?"
"The other Alphas wants to hold a eting with you, privately and all because they’re against Jared. They’re tired of his tyranny and I think they ntioned sothing about going to Moon Whisper to plead to the Lycan King...".
"First, you know my travel restrictions to Moon Whisper and secondly, they all had their chance to make the right choices but everyone was still blinded about making Kurtis an Alpha. They were so pissed about it... right now, if things hadn’t gone this way, Kurtis would have been an Alpha and we would all be existing in peace and not under Jared’s tyrannical reign. "I will reach out to them and tell them that you would communicate with them when you’re less busy. By the way, can I have the week off?" Lucius asked.

"A break?" I murmured "Is it because of everything that has been happening so far? I know you’re tired but you know our itinerary and what we’ve planned. All the people we’re eting and all... I need you for at least until we’re done with the initial talk with them,".
"My body cannot wait that much, Xavier," he said tiredly. For the first ti, I studied him and almost reeled back with shock when I noticed how haggard his appreance was. His hair was uncombed and unkept, his clothes were not ironed and he had a haunted look on his face as our eyes t. "I just need to truly rest. Sothing Is not right with my body and one of those things is stress, I’m so sure of it. I’ll use a week to rejuvenate. So, I can co back stronger,".
"Okay!" I nodded "Please take care of yourself please and I’ll just pause on most of the projects we’re working on and we’ll resu when you return,".
"Yeah," he nodded stifling a yawn at the back of his hand. He murmured another goodbye and left the room. It was just present in the room, so, I dropped on the couch in the living room trying to replay everything that has happened. If Belinda has any affiliation with Jared and she’s a witch, the chances of him being stripped of his title was at 95%.
Right now, even though I would not be fighting politically, I should at least know the real truth behind Belinda and Jared. I cannot put my trust in Kragen. I rose to my feet and started towards the security departnt. When I reached, I asked for the Head Delta.
"Alpha," he ca shortly, giving a polite bow "You asked for ,".
"Yes," I nodded "I need a favour from you and it’s going to be tedious but before that, how much of our data is saved?"
"From the day I started working here, Alpha. About 20 years ago, I always made sure I saved every important information," he replied.
"That’s good!" I nodded "Could you pull out the CCTV cara recording of a particular person from 8 years ago? And where does our CCTV stop?"
"We have coverage to as farther as the bush we can get and it’s not a problem, Alpha," he chuckled when he saw the aghast look on my face. "Nowadays, there’s so many technologies to help one look for things the easiest and most simple ways. So, you really should not worry. I will have it ready by the end of tomorrow or possible tonight,".
"Good!" I nodded "I’ll be expecting it and I’ll ask the guards to let you drop it off in my office. So," I pulled out my phone and flipped through it for a few seconds before I saw Belinda’s pictures. "this is the person I want every CCTV footage from 8 years ago. You could just compile it for easy access. Nothing too bulky,".
