Selene POV
I saved the day.
One of the things I learnt about dealing with people was to always be have the upper hand in any situation you find yourself. Whether it is getting access to dark secret of the other person or looking for a vice you can hold on to incase things didn’t go your way.
The only people that turned out completely clean in the thieving heist going on in Moon Whisper was Noah and his family. They were surprisingly clean... too clean for my liking but I was going to look for sothing too, I could hold on to and use as a bargaining chip, especially for soone like Nora.
"Why didn’t you inform be about all this?" Noah broke into my thoughts.
We had left the eting hall together with all the elders and pack officials sitting quietly. Noah told them that he would check all the evidence provided and decide on the best way to go about it.
"Inform you?" I chuckled "C’mon, Noah... if I had told you this way before that eting, you wouldn’t have allowed to use it in the first place. Like I told you, this was going to be my ace and I wasn’t going to use it but they asked for it. If they had just accepted my apology and not co up with those stupid ideas, I’m sure...".
"You’re making things worse, Selene," he breathed covering his face with both hands "You do not know these n... they’ll hate your more and will be determined to do anything to have removed. I had a feeling that they’ve been taking money but it didn’t start now, it has existed way before I beca King. You cannot just fight this thing... it’ll lead to rebellion and that’s the last thing I want now,".
I stared at Noah, trying to wrap my head around everything he was saying "Are you serious right now!? We are trying to dismantle this guts that these n have and you’re complaining about it? Did you like the way they were threaten to have you removed because you do not want to dance to their tune... for Moon’s sake Noah aren’t you tired of being treated like a figure head,".
"That’s not what I am," Noah screeched "Stop belittling , Selene. I’ve been in Moon Whisper long enough to know how things are done around here. This so-called findings of yours, will not fly. I am not going to do anything about it and I’m telling you right now. So, please... I beg you.".
"Hold on..." I scoffed "You won’t do anything about it? Why, Noah? Those n out there are so particular about upholding traditions and laws yet you want to make them an exception? C’mon, that’s not fair. They have to get a taste of their own dicine no matter what,".
"So, you want to relieve them of their duties or what?"
"Exactly!" I nodded "Relieve them of their duties and start afresh, Noah. What’s so hard to do there? There are lots of n in Moon Whisper that will easily fill up that position for you. You need to create your own loyalists, Noah... it is not enough to just ride on the Grand Lycan’s coat tail, it’s ti to step up your ga and rule Moon Whisper as you ought to. Make decisions and make sure everyone is given equal chance to improve their lives,".
Noah stared at for a few seconds and burst into laughter. When he was done laughing, he ca to where I was standing "This is not Greyhound, Selene. I understand that you want to present yourself like so sort of gift from the moon goddess herself but everyone cannot have equal opportunity in any part of the world. The reason why there’s a governnt is because we need so people to perpetually be in a state that needs fixing. There’s a lot of things to bother about than the lower towns or villages. I am not saying they’re not worth but they’re not just priority,".
My eyes widened with shock as I stared at Noah, trying to understand what he was trying to say. Before I could say a word, the door to his office opened and the Grand Lycan, Leonard ca in, in his usual quiet deanor. As soon as Noah saw him, he ca to stand beside protectively.
"Dad, if this is about what Selene did...".
"No!" Leonard shook his head, as his gaze remained fixed on . I could sense the earlier hostility directed towards has ebbed away and was replaced my curiosity. He turned away from and faced Noah "Let see the docunt," he asked stretching his hand.
Noah sighed "Father, if this is about...".
"Just do as you’re told, Noah..." the Grand Lycan interrupted him "Please,".
The hairs at the back of my neck pricked in anticipation as I heard the word ’please’ co out from the Grand Lycan. I was sure that those words are not things he was used to saying regularly. I also noticed; Noah seed perplexed by it too. Unable to do anything, he passed the file to his father. The Grand Lycan flipped through the pages of the docunt, his face as impassive as it had been during the eting... after a while, he looked up and turned to
"Do you know how long I’ve tried to do sothing like this and it didn’t occur to that the only person that has access to everything in the pack is the Luna and such detail, thank you, Selene. If you did this to apologize for the other day, then accepted and I’m ..." he trailed off as his eyes darted to his son who was staring at him strangely too. "I’m sorry for the other night," he said and cleared his throat "I shouldn’t have put my hands on you... it is not in my manner. Do you think you can accept my apology and let’s move past it?"
I froze, and sneaked a look to Noah who was as shocked as I was. "Dad," Noah moved towards him "Are you alright? Are you dying?"
"Don’t be silly!" the Grand Lycan flashed him a hard stare, his eyes were still on . Maybe the Carrell’s are not bad after all.
"I accept, your majesty," I murmured with a smile.
"Good!" he nodded, "A lot has happened tonight already, let’s talk about this tomorrow, by the way, I had the Pack Police detain those elders and pack officials until tomorrow, just to be on a safer side. There’s a lot they can try to do but, in the cell, they’ll be less powerful. I instructed so Deltas assigned to to watch them, we need to be sure that they won’t contact anyone and, we also need to watch their families. Do you think you can provide soldiers at least not from the Pack,".
I and Noah shared a glance then he turned to his father "Yes, I’ll contact soone I know and have him give us so of his soldiers. I am also going to declare and ergency curfew tonight just to restrict any form of movents. Babe," Noah turned to "Do you know how long it will take for Kurtis’s n to get here?"
"At least before 9pm. The night is still young and i..." I trailed off. Noah cannot know that I am still in contact with Kurtis. I have to make him call him by himself. Also, this could be a trap... "I think you should call him now to see if it’ll be possible to get them here,".
"Okay," the Grand Lycan nodded "I’ll leave you two to take care of these tiny details why I go and ensure that my orders are being obeyed, keep posted if anything cos up,".
He gave a curt nod before leaving the office. As soon as we were alone, Noah turned to "I don’t know how you did that, Selene but you’ve managed to charm my father. I haven’t seen that light in his eyes since forever. I’m grateful darling, thank you so much," He leaned in for a kiss which I willingly gave him.
Our kiss deepened as his hands road around my body, pressing to himself. When we ca up for air, our gaze t and he smiled at wistfully "I wish we had ti, Selene... my body wants you so much,".
"But not Rio..." My eyes crinkled with sadness "He doesn’t like that much,".
"He will darling," Noah sighed and pressed another kiss on my nose "You know that first ti, he would have ward up to you if you had been more around but... then Brooke ca but one of these days we should go for a run or how about a vacation? We’ve never done anything by ourselves, Selene... I need to be with you alone for a few days without worrying about the Pack..."
"I agree," I circled my index finger around his nipple, feeling powerful when I heard his sharp intake of breath and loving the way, Bea purred inside . She loved Noah... "Let’s do it after we take care of this ss and we could spare a few minutes now to... I winked at him.
"Yeah," he nodded, his eyes going dark with lust.
