I pushed her aside before she finished speaking "I will not be doing that with you, Brooke!" I said firmly "I don’t love you like that. I have a wife and I am obligated to remain faithful to her sothing I am determined to keep to. I wanted us to sit down like grownups and talk but it seems like I am the only one who matured. Stay the night, by tomorrow, I want you out of my room,".
Then I turned and left the room. I wasn’t even angry; I was just fed up with Brooke and all of her antics. It was funny by the way at how much Brooke was chasing after yet the woman who I truly wanted and desired, didn’t give two fucks about . I wanted to stop at her room and find out if she was fine but I decided against it. It’ll only worsen things. Thankfully, I’ve already booked a first appointnt with a marriage counsellor, we’ll see how things will go from there and that will be dependent on whether we survive this night.
I decided to stop first at the pack hospital. Judging from the way Selene had sounded in her text, I was sure that they’d take Xavier to the pack hospital when they arrived. In the pitch blackness, I navigated my way, The LED lamp I used to guide did nothing, so I had to go with the help of my intuition and visual vision of how the place was.
As soon as I arrived at the hospital, I saw Kurtis leaning against the desk of a blushing receptionist. He had a smirk on his lips as he spoke. It was the receptionist that saw first. When she saw , the smile left her face and imdiately, she lowered her head to greet . I didn’t spare her a glance as I turned to Kurtis.
"How is he doing? Selene told he was found," I comnted gazing at him intently. I saw the shock on his face at my sudden question but I wasn’t going to let that bother . After he got over his montary shock, he lowered his head to greet .
"Your majesty," He said coldly "He’s currently unconscious and the doctors are trying their best to bring him back to consciousness the last ti I was there. That’s all I know,".
"Oh!" I nodded knowing he would not provide additional information if I asked "He’s in the VIP section, right?" I asked already moving forward. When I arrived at the VIP floor, I went straight to the last room on the floor and noticed that Lucius, Xavier’s Beta was sitting outside the room where he was, he had a dejected look on his face and had several bandages tied around his biceps and legs.
As soon as he saw , he struggled to his feet "Your majesty," he murmured.
I nodded my acknowledgent waving for him to sit back down as my eyes went to the room where Xavier was "How is he now?" I asked.
"He’s not doing fine," Lucius said wearily "The doctors can’t seem to place their finger on what is wrong with him and he’s losing too much energy. They’re worried but they’re trying to see if they can create a bypass for him so he would survive on the machines in the anti and I hope it works,".
"Okay!" I nodded and took my position on the bench too. I had a lot of questions to ask but I didn’t want to wear him out. After nearly five minutes of seating, the door opened and a doctor appeared, he looked puzzled and tired at the sa ti. As soon as he and his team saw , they all gave a curt bow.
I was too impatient to respond to all of their greetings, so I waved them aside, focusing on who seed to be the lead doctor. "How is he doing now?" I asked.
"Not good! Your majesty," he sighed "He’s losing consciousness fast and his energy level seems to be dropping every single second. It’s strange because we cannot trace what could be causing it but we’ve managed to put him on a by-pass, hopefully it’ll work but we should prepare for the worse...except sothing else be done,".
Selene! He needs Selene... I knew this. She was his healing as he was hers and it irked just the thought of it. This was the exact reason why I was so pissed. It wasn’t about trying to find him and all that stuff, it is always what follows later and this was the outco. How long would she continue to do this?
"Okay!" I nodded to the doctors who in turn murmured sothing about going for a break and that we could only look through the screen we’ve set up for him and nothing more. I waited until they’d left before returning to the bench I had been sitting on.
"He needs his mate," Lucius said quietly "Please your majesty... he needs, Selene. You know this... I know it’s very difficult especially since she’s your wife now but please...".
"Stop disrespecting , Lucius," I scoffed turning to him "Do you know how deaning it is for you to ntion my wife as soone else’s mate? You’re not trying to know how I feel about my mate being with another man just give him strength. It’s a disrespect to and my throne so forgive if I refuse. By the way, how was he able to survive three years without her? Surely, he can pull through again just like before,".
"Do you know what it took for him to survive those three years?" Lucius shook his head "This is a different scenario, they’re close to each other. She’s here now and his body needs her. Please... I’m begging you!"
"You heard the doctors!" I said and rose to my feet "He’ll pull through. We’ll keep trying other options until he’s fine. Else that, I’m sorry but my wife will not be sleeping with another man to make him pull through,".
"But you knew of this bond when you married, Selene? You knew that no matter how much you think that their bond is severed, it’ll never be. So, why on earth did you have to marry her when you know tis like this will co? For moon’s sake, Your Majesty!" his voice went a notch higher "You know they need each other, stop trying to stop it, I beg you,".
I scoffed and turned to face him "The only reason why I’ll be letting you go is because you’re distraught now, I guess and it’s useless to punish you in this condition. You should be taken care of too; you look like shit ward over. Keep updated on the status of his recovery," I instructed before I walked away.
Just as I was leaving, Kurtis was returning. His gaze flitted from mine to Lucius and then back to . I paused, staring at him intently. "Can you give a status update on the security teams deployed to every part of the town and also with the visiting Lycans and Alphas?"
Kurtis gazed at blankly for a few seconds and I knew he was contemplating if he would respond to or ignore but in the end, he did. "They’re all in position and also on standby for any anomaly. Just like we predicted, Conrad tried to reach out to them but we blocked all their calls and redirected them to our channel. For the ti being, we’re watching his house to see if he’ll try to leave. We have internal and external visuals of him, so he’s still in his house until now but hopefully, we’ll be able to combat the darkness that keeps increasing,".
"That’s splendid!" I nodded pleased by the detailed report "Do you know what happened to Xavier? Lucius is not in the right state of mind to tell anything?"
"He saved us all!" Kurtis said still staring at without emotions in his eyes. He risked his life and sailed across the sea to the ships coming towards Moon Whisper. He noticed that the ships had a central engine, disabled it and could sink those ships without anyone noticing. It was while he was returning that he lost his footing and sank. Thankfully, his Beta is one tenacious human beings I’ve ever t. To say the truth, Your Majesty... you owe Xavier everything. If he should wake up to discover that you didn’t care about his life ...".
"I should let him fuck my wife as gratitude?" I yelled, "Do you even know what you’re asking to do? Fine if I must compensate him, I would do the sa thing for Greyhound that he did for Moon Whisper and I hope it evens it out,".
"Your Majesty!" Kurtis sighed "They’re not going to be with each other intimately, I’m sure. They just...".
"You don’t know these things more than I do," I scoffed staring at him "I am aware of how it works. He’s near death and only mating with Selene would fill him with energy, especially with how the moon is today. Every full moon, he mates with her for energy back when they were still married and I know once I approve of this, it’ll beco a norm,".
"Fine!" Kurtis shrugged "But if anything should happen to him, I hope you will be able to deal with your sister and his daughters. Anyways, Conrad was trying to send out a circular to the Lycans but I intercepted it. It is an invitation for a eting tomorrow by 2 pm and guess what, you were not invited,".
