Julian Fordham, although displeased with Victoria Monroe being alone with Rhys Hawthorne, quickly walked towards Victoria upon seeing her in scrubs, ignoring all else.

"Victoria, what’s wrong with you?"

Victoria Monroe had no intention of explaining, hastily coming over, her voice hoarse: "How’s Grandma?"

Julian Fordham repeated the doctor’s words, and upon hearing preparations for the worst, Victoria’s legs weakened, nearly making her fall.

"Careful."

Both Julian Fordham and Rhys Hawthorne reached out to support her.

The atmosphere instantly solidified, Julian Fordham’s gaze coldly swept over Rhys Hawthorne’s hand, carrying a hint of warning.

Rhys Hawthorne, unwilling for Victoria Monroe to bear unpleasant accusations, released his distinctively jointed hand, stepping back to widen the distance.

The hug in the car monts ago was enough for him to savor for a long while.

He currently had no right to openly possess her.

Victoria Monroe tightly gripped Julian Fordham’s collar, anxiously asking: "How did you choose?"

"A cerebral hemorrhage is no small matter. Even if not fatal on the spot, there’s a high chance of becoming a vegetative state. Grandma is already elderly, thus close to death. Though the surgery is risky, at least there’s a chance."

Upon hearing the word death, Victoria’s face turned utterly pale.

She originally wanted to abort her child, but as a result of her grandma’s incident, the child survived.

Last ti, she froze overnight, and the child was fine.

As if so force from fate was stopping her, she should keep the child.

If anything happened to Grandma, these two children would be her only blood relatives left in the world.

Seeing her lost in thought, Julian Fordham didn’t know what she was thinking, so he wrapped his coat around her, shielding her from the chill of the corridor.

He patiently comforted her: "Don’t be afraid, Grandma will be alright."

Rhys Hawthorne, watching the two embrace, calmly shifted his gaze to the hazy sky.

The dawn was breaking.

Only then did Victoria Monroe co to her senses, she pushed Julian Fordham away and sat on a chair waiting.

Julian Fordham did not say much, he leaned against the wall, indifferent, but his dark eyes carried a faint complexity.

His sharp gaze swept over Victoria. Except for slightly reddened eyes, her small face was sowhat haggard and pale, but didn’t show any signs of illness.

Yet she was wearing patient clothes, clearly bearing Luminis Hospital’s logo.

The nursing ho had excellent dical resources, yet she avoided him to go to Rhys Hawthorne’s private hospital, what was Victoria Monroe intending to do?

He recalled Victoria Monroe once saying she wanted to surprise him in his arms.

In recent days, Victoria’s appetite had decreased, and scenes of her vomiting in the bathroom erged in his mind.

A thought rose in Julian Fordham’s mind.

As the possibility dawned, he was so excited his blood boiled.

Victoria Monroe was pregnant, wasn’t she?

Though he thought the probability was slim, he couldn’t think of another reason.

So, what she intended was an abortion.

Julian Fordham felt a tightness in his heart but quickly ca to his senses; when Victoria rushed over just now, she showed no signs of anything.

Victoria didn’t succeed.

The child was still there!

Julian Fordham was overjoyed; he and Victoria Monroe had a child!

They would never be separated.

Rhys Hawthorne calmly took in his facial changes.

With Grandma’s incident, in such circumstances, Victoria couldn’t change clothes, Julian Fordham wasn’t foolish; this matter might not stay hidden.

Julian Fordham certainly guessed it.

Yet Victoria, imrsed in praying for Grandma, was unaware of the undercurrents around her.

Ti passed by, second by second, until the mont the surgery room doors opened, she found herself lacking the courage to ask the result.

The chances of surgical success were only thirty percent, and Grandma was at such an advanced age.

She feared the news that Grandma had beco a vegetable, the worst outco being a failed surgery, condolences to the family.

Victoria Monroe’s body trembled uncontrollably; she gripped the chair armrest tightly, unable even to stand on her weakened legs.

Julian Fordham ca forward, "Doctor, how’s my Grandma?"

Upon hearing the words "surgery successful," Victoria’s high-strung heart finally settled.

She held onto the chair to stand, her voice shaky as she asked: "How is her condition now?"

"Still not very stable, we must wait and see if she gets through the danger period. Alright, family mbers, proceed with the paperwork."

Grandma hadn’t regained consciousness, and was wheeled out.

Victoria followed along, having been hit with two consecutive blows; her mood felt like a roller coaster, tossed up and down.

As before, she was stopped at the ICU doors.

But this ti, could Grandma pull through?

Victoria pressed against the glass, tears streaming down her face, her heart bitter and self-reproaching.

She felt if she hadn’t gone for surgery last night, Grandma wouldn’t have been in trouble.

Bla her.

It was all her fault.

Assistant Prescott completed the paperwork, reminding the couple in patient attire as well.

"President Fordham, Ma’am, it’s monitored here 24/7, you can’t go in either; want to rest first?"

Rhys Hawthorne spoke up: "It’s almost dawn, have so breakfast and rest a bit; Grandma is concerned about you, she’ll surely pull through."

"Okay."

Victoria Monroe wiped away tears at the corners of her eyes with her sleeve, ignored Julian Fordham, and left with Rhys Hawthorne.

Julian Fordham’s fists clenched; he forcibly suppressed the rage swelling within.

Only after Victoria left did Assistant Prescott cautiously speak: "Boss, you also..."

Julian Fordham coldly interrupted him, "You investigate sothing; pull out all of Victoria’s dical diagnoses from First People’s Hospital. Also, prepare so gifts for Director Zhou."

Julian Fordham stood with hands behind him, his gaze deep and fierce, "I need to confirm one thing."

"What?" Assistant Prescott was puzzled.

Julian Fordham’s thin lips spoke each word clearly: "Victoria, she should be pregnant."

Upon hearing this, Assistant Prescott was stunned, "Highly unlikely, but Madam’s health..."

"Whether or not, asking her attending physician will clarify."

Julian Fordham couldn’t wait for treatnt, he changed clothes, freshened up, took a fever-reducing pill, and hurried down the mountain.

At this ti, the hospital wasn’t open yet.

Director Zhou was just about to drive away when soone stepped out of a Cullinan.

"Director Zhou, please stay."

Director Zhou looked up, only seeing a man in suit standing before the Cullinan, his aura so imposing it intimidated. Especially when his eyes fell on her, Director Zhou felt so tension.

She treated Victoria Monroe for years but didn’t know who Victoria’s husband was.

But she had seen this face in financial magazines.

"Mr. Fordham, you’re looking for for sothing?" She politely and courteously inquired.

Julian Fordham’s deanor was calm but his voice carried an undeniable force: "Director Zhou, let’s talk privately."
