Andria’s POV

The match raged on for what felt like endless minutes, and I soon started losing interest. They were formidable rivals, and they made near scores, without letting each other score any.

"This is a good ga," Becca whispered beside . "It’s tough for any of them to score any points."

"And that makes it boring for ," I replied.

"Exactly," Allison added.

By the last ten minutes, both sides looked ready to kill for the win.

And then, Aven charged forward, Tristan covered the flank, Khalil ran ahead, shouting, "Pass it!"

Aven ignored him and kicked.

A clean, devastating shot, and that was a goal.

The Alpha successors roared triumphantly, Aven bit his chest hard, Tristan flexed his muscles, while Damon winked at . The crowd scread.

The ga ended in a 2–1 victory, with the Titan Wolves and Khalil of Westbrook defeated.

Allison wore mixed feelings on her face as they walked out of the field.

"Now we can have a short recession if you want, and co back in ten minutes for the results," Macy announced.

The students shouted excitedly as they made their way to the cafeteria.

I remained in the field, chewing on so snacks I had brought earlier.

Soon, the short break was over, and the students started returning. I caught Tricia and Alexa staring intently at . I ignored them and continued to bite down on my snacks until I was done with them.

Zade and Macy, the appointed student judges, climbed the stage with clipboards in hand.

I swallowed.

Zade’s eyes swept the crowd and then locked on mine.

My breath lodged in my chest.

His expression was unreadable, but sohow curious. I moved uneasily in my seat.

He looked at as if he were reading , and since that day we jogged together, I haven’t been able to shake off this feeling.

Did he know? Had my cover slipped sohow? Was he that observant?

No, he wasn’t; if he were, he wouldn’t have fallen for Lena’s little tricks and treated that way.

I forced myself to look away, gripping Becca’s hand.

"What’s the matter?" she whispered. "Well, relax, we would be winning this one."

My stomach churned; she probably noticed that I gripped her hand out of anxiety. Well, I did, although not from anticipating the results, but from the thoughts roaming in the mind of the one announcing it.

Macy stepped forward first, clearing the microphone. "We will begin announcing from the last position."

Zade’s voice followed, deep and echoing. "The last group is... Group E."

Cheers and groans erupted.

"Next," Macy said, "Group G."

The tension tightened as other groups were ntioned one after another.

"And for the second runner-up..." Zade paused deliberately. "Group A."

A wave of noise washed through the crowd.

Allison whispered, "Okay... okay... we’re getting close."

My palms dampened.

"And for the first runner-up..." Macy started, but Zade whispered sothing in her ear, and she stepped back.

Zade stepped forward again, lips curling into a slow smile.

"And the winner is..."

The crowd scread wild guesses.

So scread "Group C," while the others yelled "Group B." Besides, we were the only group standing, and Macy didn’t call the first runner-up.

My heart pounded painfully.

Zade let the chaos rise, savoring every second, nodding his head slowly, with a weird smirk on his lips.

"The winner is.... Group B!"

The stadium erupted, so in groans, while so were in cheers.

Becca let out a scream, practically launching out of her seat. She hugged so tight my breath almost vanished, then grabbed Allison, squeezing her like a treasured trophy.

"We won!" she shrieked. "Aria, Allison, I told you we are winning this"

I laughed. Becca needed this win so much. I’m glad we could make that happen. Allison grinned, pulling us into another group hug.

The Alpha successors walked off the field as if they weren’t part of the ceremony. They didn’t look so excited for wolves who should be excited that they won.

Allison snorted. "Look at them. As if winning is a chore."

"Let your brother and his friends be," Becca said, still vibrating with joy. "We have a cup to collect!"

We marched to the stage, hands linked.

Zade handed us the silver trophy. Macy placed dals around our necks; her smile was too bright, even for .

We posed and took pictures, striking different poses with the trophy. After the pictures, we started jumping.

Other students joined us, hugging, celebrating, and chanting our group letter. They were so excited. Although their groups failed, they were still happy with the winning team, and that ward my heart.

Across the field, Alexa and Tricia walked off with their shoulders slumped, their expressions rotten with disappointnt.

Becca nudged , smirking. "Now that is a beautiful sight."

Allison snorted. "Fra it."

We laughed as the crowd slowly dispersed, students drifting slowly out of the field, back to their dormitories.

Becca carried the cup as if it were her newborn child.

"Careful," I teased. "You will dent it with all that hugging."

She gasped dramatically. "Do not speak curses upon my trophy."

Allison laughed and waved at us as soon as we got to the crossroads. "See you in a bit! I need a shower before I collapse."

Becca and I continued to our apartnt, still buzzing from the win.

"I can’t believe we now share an apartnt," Becca said excitedly.

"I’m just as shocked as you are," I replied to her.

When we entered, l was already sprawled on the sofa in her sports bra and shorts, her hair in a frizzy ss, eyes narrowed at us.

"You guys are annoyingly loud," she grumbled.

Becca lifted the trophy. "We won."

l scowled deeper. "I know."

I sat down on the sofa beside her. "What happened to your group?"

l groaned dramatically. "We lost to your group. And your stupid perfect-footwork, perfect-everything group."

Becca cackled. "Aw. Poor baby Titan Wolf."

l picked up the throw pillow and launched it at my face with deadly precision.

I gasped, grabbed another pillow, and smacked her arm. "You started this!"

Becca jumped in imdiately. "War!"

We tossed pillows at each other, laughing out loud. This felt even more exciting than the field sports.

We collapsed in a tangled heap, hair sticking to our foreheads, ribs aching from laughter.

l groaned into the mattress. "I hate all of you."

"No, you don’t," Becca chirped. "You love us. Otherwise, you wouldn’t still be here."

l rolled over, eyes half-closed. "Shut up."

Then Becca said lightly, almost absentmindedly, "Up next is the prom night. Once upon a ti, Liara was our princess candidate."
