481 Damsel in Distress
The entire ti, I watched as Fina's eyes looked at with a mix of resignation and sadness.. up until she was dragged away by that knight in white armor.
Anger devoured my senses as I rushed forward. As soon as I reached the spot where Fina was previously, I quickly tried to detect traces of the teleportation skill that was used but couldn't gain any useful information.
"DAMN IT!"
I was too complacent. It should be obvious that leaving the girls without protection would make them the perfect target! And now, this is the result.
Turning around, I was t with nine more knights. All of them stared back but weren't really rushing to catch anymore. Instead, they were backing away slowly... planning to escape.
"YOU THINK I'D LET YOU?!"
[Will, wait! Don't kill them all off!]
I could hear Fatima's voice, but I was too preoccupied to even care. I rushed forward while activating [Shadow Teleportation] to reach the furthest one.
However, as if anticipating my action, he managed to turn around and attack the spot I ca out of, causing to lose montum.
"B*STARDS! GIVE BACK MY FINA!"
As the broadsword swung horizontally after a chop, it lost most of the force behind it. I t it with the Energy Blade, bisecting it, and continued along the knight's arm, reaching to his neck and sending his head flying off.
After confirming his death, I turned to the next one but realized that only one remained. The others had already entered their own portals and escaped!
[Capture him alive! Or else we'll lose all clues to locating Fina!]
Just as I grabbed a nearby knight's head, planning to squish it like squeezing a lemon, Fatima's words brought back to my senses. Right... I need to stay calm.
Instead of smashing the knight's head along with his helt, I just went ahead and cut off all four of his limbs before peeling off the helt and tearing off his tongue forcefully.
*SIZZLE!*
The drops of blood that flew to my face caused a small burn on my skin, but I didn't worry about it at all. Instead, while ignoring the knight's screams of pain, I slamd his head against the crystal ground, robbing him of his consciousness.
"..."
I panted hard while trying to assess the situation.
Eight knights escaped, and along with them was the one who took Fina.
Judy and Yorm were heavily injured and fainted on the ground, while Julia was on the brink of death.
There was no ti to waste, so I quickly activated the Guardian's Halo for the two, then rushed to Julia's side and used Void Powers to heal her wounds. After all, calling Ember to heal her would be way too slow.
Just as I was thinking of interrogating the captured knight, I suddenly rembered a certain function that I seldom used.
"Right, there's that! RECALL!"
I tried to activate the System's function, Recall, which calls upon my tad monster, or anyone under the Servant Contract, to my side instantly. However, although I could feel the function wasting my energy as it activated, nothing happened.
"Will, it's no use. They probably already placed a restriction on her..."
Fatima, who had returned to her human form, ragged and seemingly in pain, patted my shoulder with a sad expression. I turned to her with a deep frown, recalling the function's effect.
"But Recall should be able to pull in any of my tad monsters, regardless of space locks!"
Right. It should be able to call back Fina, whether or not the space around her was sealed!
"That's true. But there's a loophole to anything, Will."
Fatima explained.
"A certain tool, when equipped, would cause a temporary separation of the Tar and the Tad monster. It's called the [Freedom Shackles] and is supposed to be a banned item, with its manufacturing thod lost in ti."
"...!"
Ignoring the contradicting words in its na, I tried to "feel" the connection I had with Fina...
"No way..."
And as Fatima said, I couldn't feel her presence at all! I even tried calling her using the ntal Scape, but she didn't even respond. No, it's more like my voice didn't reach her in the first place.
Just as I was starting to feel panicked, Fatima placed a hand on top of my head.
"Relax. They took Fina as technically a hostage, so they wouldn't kill her, at least. Otherwise, they would just end her then and there and not take her back with them."
"..."
"Anyway, before that, we need to get the coordinates of where they teleported to from this guy."
Fatima lifted her hand off my head and started to walk to the limbless man lying on his back while fainting.

While Will and the others were busy fighting against the priests and knights, Fang and Igni were also busy in their own way.
"Co on! How many of these guys are there?!"
Igni roared in irritation as she roasted another "angel" to ashes using her [Ignis Faatus]. That had been the hundredth kill she made in just a few minutes!
"Stop complaining and just kill more of them!"
Fang, on the other hand, had already killed over 500 of them. The rate of their massacre was on a whole other level compared to Will's!
"Sh*t, more reinforcents!"
Fang cried as she peeked out of Igni's shadow, noticing the incoming army of a thousand angel-like monsters. Seeing such numbers sent goosebumps across the two's arms. There were just too many of them!
"What are these things anyway?!"
Igni asked with a hint of fear and irritation. Fang, on the other hand, simply glared at the incoming army, thinking about the thods she would use to kill more of them.
"I don't know, but one thing for sure is that they're our enemies!"
Fang waved her dagger before diving into the shadows once more. Igni, having no other choice, activated her [Fla Body] and prepared for another battle.
"Co at , you chicken b*stards! I'll show you what a dragon's wrath is!"
Although they were in grave danger, they were still performing their jobs as intended, pulling in most of the enemy's attention to them!
