Qiao Xi was montarily taken aback but quickly stepped forward and pulled Huo Sijiao away. That seductive vibe of hers could captivate even won.
Xie Xubai really was a paragon of virtue.
“Coincidentally, I brought my acupuncture kit today. It was originally ant for Guan Wenli.”
Sweat dotted Xie Xubai’s forehead. He suppressed his discomfort and said, “Then I’ll trouble Doctor Qiao.”
Guan Jingtan wisely said, “I’ll arrange a room for you. This way, please.”
The group quickly found a nearby room. Fortunately, Qiao Xi had co prepared, taking out her acupuncture kit to treat Huo Sijiao.
She was well-practiced in this; there was sothing about the people of the Imperial Capital—they always seed obsessed with using this kind of drug.
Before long, Huo Sijiao slumped weakly to one side, her eyes regaining clarity.

“Maybe the Pei mother-and-daughter duo, or perhaps soone else,” Xie Xubai replied, his expression cold and distant.
Just as he finished speaking, faint footsteps and the sound of a door creaking open ca from the hallway outside, sneaky and deliberate.
Soone was checking room after room.
Qiao Xi gestured for silence and whispered to Xie Xubai, “Young Master Xie, I need your cooperation for a little trap.”
Perhaps by so inexplicable urge, Xie Xubai instantly grasped her aning and flushed bright red.
The proper gentleman that he was, he still managed to overco his embarrassnt in front of everyone. He intentionally made so noise, murmuring Huo Sijiao’s na.
The footsteps outside ca to an abrupt halt.
A shadow approached.
Pei Chun leaned against the window and called out softly, “Xubai, is that you? Xubai…”
She had clearly heard Xie Xubai’s evocative sounds. She knew very well the kind of noise a man would make in such a situation.
“Xubai…”
Pressing her ear against the door, she heard Xie Xubai uttering Huo Sijiao’s na tenderly.
This little tramp was really with him!
All her efforts had ended up benefitting soone else.
Pei Chun was instantly furious, raising her foot and kicking the door hard. “Huo Sijiao, you slut! How dare you seduce Xie Xubai!”
With a loud crash, the door was flung open.
Pei Chun was about to storm in and catch them in the act, but what greeted her were several pairs of eyes staring at her.
There was none of the passionate scene she had imagined.
As she turned to flee, Old Chen grabbed hold of her.
“What are you doing? Let go!”
Qiao Xi stepped forward and said, “Miss Pei, what are you doing here?”
“I… I just happened to pass by.”
“Passed by? The second floor of the Guan residence is open to just anyone now? Or perhaps you had other intentions?”
“No… No, I don’t know anything. No one stopped when I ca up, so I just ca to take a look. Who would have thought…”
Qiao Xi sneered, “Who would have thought you’d find so many people in this room? Were you here to check the results of your drugging efforts?”
Pei Chun turned pale. “You’re slandering ! I didn’t do anything!”
“Slandering?”
Guan Jingtan stepped forward and said, “Miss Pei, to ensure everything went smoothly at this wedding banquet, we installed hidden caras in several areas. I’ll have soone check the surveillance now to see if you’ve been wronged.”
“I…”
Pei Chun opened her mouth but couldn’t say a word.
There were hidden caras!
Her eyes darted around as she began throwing a tantrum. “I don’t know anything! Let go, or I’ll call the police and report you for unlawful detention! Let go of , all of you!”
“Chun’er!”
Downstairs, Madam Pei had been waiting too long and ca over after hearing the commotion. As she approached, she heard her daughter’s loud, angry voice and hurried over.
She saw her daughter tightly restrained by a bodyguard.
“Chun’er! Don’t you dare lay a filthy hand on my daughter!” Like a madwoman, she clawed and slapped at Old Chen’s arm.
Old Chen let go imdiately, and the mother and daughter stumbled onto the floor, landing hard on their backsides.
Madam Pei rubbed her sore tailbone and shouted angrily, “You’re all taking this too far!”
“This is too far? You haven’t seen anything yet.” Huo Sijiao braced herself and slowly walked over to the Pei mother and daughter. Leaning over, she raised her hand and slapped Pei Chun twice across the face.
“Calling a slut? Who the hell do you think you are?”
Huo Sijiao, thoroughly enraged tonight, couldn’t hold back, delivering two more slaps that left Pei Chun’s face swollen.
Madam Pei tried to intervene, only to receive a slap herself.
“Drugging ? What a brilliant idea.”
Pei Chun cried out, “I didn’t drug you! I drugged Xie Xubai… Who knew you’d drink his water!” She had hoped Huo Sijiao would end up under the influence and embarrass herself with soone random.
That way, she’d never be able to face Xie Xubai again.
Qiao Xi glanced at Huo Xingzhou, then at Xie Xubai and Huo Sijiao. “So, how do you plan to handle this?”
“Leave it to . Reporting them to the police would be letting them off too easily. I’d like to see if they have the nerve to spread word of tonight’s events!”
Huo Sijiao gritted her teeth. “Everyone out, except Old Chen. Miss Guan, could you have the footage of their drugging sent to my phone? I need it.”
“Of course,” Guan Jingtan agreed without hesitation.
“Sister-in-law, brother…” Huo Sijiao called out, then glanced at Xie Xubai, who looked slightly disheveled. “You all wait for outside. I’ll deal with these troublemakers myself. Enough is enough—I’ve had it!”
The last ti Pei Chun had deliberately hit her with a car, she ended up twisting her ankle.
And Madam Pei had caused a scene at her beauty clinic opening.
Now this mother-daughter duo had sched against her again.
Enough was enough. No more tolerance!
After a pause, Qiao Xi finally took Huo Xingzhou’s arm and left the room.
Xie Xubai and Guan Jingtan followed suit.
The door shut tightly behind them.
Before long, cries and pleas for rcy from the Pei mother and daughter echoed from the room.
The sound of slaps was loud and clear.
The commotion was significant.
Within it all, Huo Sijiao’s sharp, scolding voice was impossible to ignore; she had a knack for insults.
Xie Xubai touched his nose, his expression sowhat unreadable.
Qiao Xi caught the look in his eyes and said softly, “Our Jiaojiao has this kind of temper. If Young Master Xie prefers soone gentle and kind, don’t expect her to change.”
Xie Xubai’s lips felt dry. He replied, “I don’t like sticking to conventions.”
Qiao Xi smiled slightly at his words.
Xie Xubai liked Jiaojiao.
Huo Xingzhou noticed her smile and brushed his fingers against her palm, tickling her slightly.
Qiao Xi was about to say sothing when Huo Xingzhou’s phone buzzed.
She could only watch as he answered the call.
“Hello.”
As he listened to the voice on the other end, his expression grew increasingly grim.
Qiao Xi couldn’t help but grasp his fingers until he ended the call and leaned in to whisper sothing in her ear.
She froze, ice-cold dread spreading through her body.
