Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Anything is Possible
Huo Xingzhou’s gaze instantly darkened as he stared at her and said, “I can’t understand.”
Qiao Xi’s neck turned beet red, and she averted her gaze, muttering, “You know, that thing.”
“I lost too much blood, I don’t rember,” he furthered his feigned difficulty.
Qiao Xi blurted out in frustration, “Exploring the Mysteries of the Human Body, ‘To Subdue the Barbarians with Their Own Skills’…” By the ti she reached the last word, she could no longer show her face.
Huo Xingzhou reached out and wrapped his arms around her slender waist, his tone laced with hidden laughter, “So you wanted to watch these things with . If you really want to, I’ll make do and accompany you.”
Shu Xue was wrong, n are indeed easy to coax, but they also know how to take an inch and ask for a mile, acting coy even after gaining an advantage.
...
Qiao Xi was extrely ashad.
“The USB drive is in the car, you can go get it. We have all night long, I’ll risk my life to keep you company,” he said, his eyes half-lowered, hiding the teasing light within.
Qiao Xi was both angry and annoyed, yet she found herself at a loss for words.
In a rash move, she blocked his nonsensical thin lips and gave them a light bite.
Huo Xingzhou held her tightly against his lower back, deepening the kiss.
Heart-wrenching and tender.
Complex and lingering.
Qiao Xi’s breath quickened, her face flushed. Her almond eyes were as clear as water that had been washed over them, watery and seductive. The beast locked within Huo Xingzhou’s heart seed ready to burst its cage.
He sought to possess her forcefully.
He spoke while slightly panting, “If you want to make ands, donate yourself to next ti. There’s a ho theater in the villa; you can do whatever you want.”
His implication was very clear.
Qiao Xi’s heartbeat beca erratic, pounding loudly.
“Qiao Xi, can I do whatever I want?” he asked.
Qiao Xi shivered, eting his exceptionally dark eyes, and replied softly, “Mhm.”
Whatever he wanted, he could do.
…
The next day.
The rain gradually stopped, and after the persistent downpour, the sun made a rare appearance.
“Such perfect weather! It’s as if it knew we were leaving today and cleared the way for us.” The male surgeon exclaid, “Now the bus will be able to get through.”
“It’s finally ti to go, but I’m a little reluctant to leave.”
“I’m so envious of Dr. Qiao, having her husband co to take her ho. Where can you find such a handso and respectable husband!”
The dical equipnt for the charity clinic had been packed up, just waiting for the bus to arrive before leaving.
Qiao Xi was an exception; Huo Xingzhou had driven over and could take her ho at any ti.
The Rolls-Royce at the entrance of the village had already attracted countless onlookers.
The mountain roads were difficult to navigate, and the car was initially covered in mud and scratches, but villagers whose lives had been saved by Huo Xingzhou the day before had spontaneously cleaned it.
When Qiao Xi and Huo Xingzhou walked out of the small flat, they were quickly surrounded by the enthusiastic villagers.
“Dr. Qiao, your dical skills are truly exceptional! My child can walk on the ground now…”
“Mr. Huo, thank you for saving us! We feel so guilty that you got hurt! Here are so hogrown eggs and green vegetables from our ho, not worth much!”
“And here are ours…”
Several baskets of hogrown eggs and green vegetables were thrust into Huo Xingzhou’s arms. Qiao Xi had seen him dressed in suits, high and mighty, but she had never witnessed a scene like this.
She chuckled at the sight.
“Chen Xun, what are you dazed for?”
With a dark expression, Huo Xingzhou passed everything to Chen Xun and instructed, “Put them in the car, don’t let them get crushed.”
“Yes, President Huo.”
Chen Xun tirelessly stowed the items and took his place in the driver’s seat.
Qiao Xi and Huo Xingzhou also got into the car. She looked out through the car window towards Longtan Township, a feeling of reluctance rising in her heart.
“Mr. Huo, will we have a chance to co back here in the future?” Qiao Xi asked from the back seat.
“You can co back whenever you want,” Huo Xingzhou said indifferently, “Chen Xun, get in touch with Zhou Yu and allocate a portion of funds for the road construction in Longtan Township.”
To get rich, build roads first.
This saying is a tiless truth, regardless of the era, but building roads demands huge amounts of labor and resources.
Qiao Xi stared at Huo Xingzhou in shock, her heart unable to calm down for a long ti. She even felt ashad for once thinking that the Xingyue Foundation was rely a token of commitnt.
The man she had fallen in love with had great depth of character and a spirit as clear as the breeze and bright moon.
…
After a three-hour drive, Qiao Xi finally arrived at the Huo Family’s small villa.
To her surprise, Du Juan and Huo Sijiao were also there, helping Aunt Qian prepare a welcoming feast.
“Sister-in-law, you’re finally back! We were just guessing when you’d arrive,” Huo Sijiao said warmly, linking arms with Qiao Xi. “The kitchen is filled with all your favorite dishes.”
“Thank you for the trouble,” Qiao Xi said politely.
“We’re family,” Du Juan said with a smile. “Co, let’s talk, Mom has sothing to say to you.”
Qiao Xi glanced at Huo Xingzhou and received his approval. His wound was hidden beneath the white shirt, not visible on the surface.
On the road, he had insisted that his injury must be kept a secret from the family.
“I’m going to the bedroom to change my clothes,” Huo Xingzhou said indifferently.
After he left, Du Juan managed to send Huo Sijiao to the kitchen to help Aunt Qian.
Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law sat in the living room, as close as mother and daughter.
“Qiao Xi, I saw the stuff online. Originally, the Xu Family and the Huo Family wanted to unite through marriage; that was my foolish idea,” she said apologetically. “I was thinking that the two kids, having grown up together, would make a perfect match.”
Xu Xingluo used to be obedient and sensible too.
But the car accident made Du Juan see her true nature.
When the second branch of the Huo Family fell into decline, everyone kicked them while they were down, including the Xu Family, who couldn’t wait to distance themselves. When the second branch suggested a “lucky” marriage to ward off bad luck, Xu Guangyao sent his daughter abroad overnight.
Having seen the true faces of the Xu Family, Du Juan could understand but not forgive.
“In the past, what Xingzhou really felt for her, we, as elders, weren’t sure. But it’s clear to anyone with eyes that Xingzhou is very fond of you.”
“My son is too proud, with a strong sense of self-esteem, and deep down, he’s a bit of a male chauvinist. Please bear with him, after all, you two are going to spend a lifeti together!”
Qiao Xi pursed her lips and shook her head, saying, “Mr. Huo is very good.”
She understood that Du Juan was there to reassure her.
“If you say he is good, then he is good. If he does sothing not good, you tell . I’ll discipline him for you!” Du Juan said, laughing.
Qiao Xi’s lips curled into a slight smile.
“Aunt Qian’s soup is ready too, let’s eat together,” Du Juan stood up, took her hand, and whispered, “From now on, you can treat as your own mother.”
Qiao Xi was startled, her eyes welling up with tears.
It was clear Du Juan knew what had happened in the Su Family, but she didn’t spell it out, leaving Qiao Xi with her dignity intact.
“Alright,” Qiao Xi replied, choked up.
…
The warmth and harmony at the Huo Family was starkly different.
In North Haicheng, the luxurious and wealthy Tian Family was turned upside down.
The cause was a phone call Tian Tian had received from the police station, requesting her cooperation with an investigation.
Her face turned pale as she shouted into the phone, “Hiring a hitman? Burglary? I did not…”
She hadn’t done those things!
She had rely used connections to buy off a thug to take so photos to threaten Qiao Xi into a divorce.
If Qiao Xi didn’t agree to a divorce, then she would leak her private photos. The Huo Family cared about their reputation; they too would make Qiao Xi divorce Huo Xingzhou.
How had it turned into a case of hiring a hitman?
Tian Tian’s throat was parched, and her scalp tingled, “Could there be so mistake? In a society ruled by law, how could I dare hire a hitman?”
The voice of the police officer on the phone said, “Cooperating with an investigation is every citizen’s duty. Please rest assured, we won’t wrongly accuse an innocent person. Please co to the station as soon as possible.”
Tian Tian’s heart skipped a beat, and her complexion turned ashen.
She wasn’t innocent, but she wasn’t that vicious either.
With her mind elsewhere, she drove a BMW out of the garage toward the police station, and, distracted, she crashed directly into a bollard. Passers-by rushed her to the hospital…
The incident blew up unexpectedly.
